2012-04-30: I had the great pleasure of speaking with Harriet McDougal Rigney about her life. She's an amazing talent and person and it will take you less than an hour to agree.

    Interview: Jul 19th, 2005

    Week 11 Question

In the books, Perrin calls on the wolves in times of need (rescuing Rand, searching for Faile, etc.). Do the wolves view his use of the gift as selfish due to his general theme of "help ME," "do ME a favor?" Does Perrin risk alienating himself from the wolves as a result of such actions?

    Robert Jordan

No, he doesn't. Among wolves, requests for aid are common, though aid isn't always given. Witness how the wolves withdraw from Perrin when they don't want to talk about a subject. Of course, there are wolves for whom the whole notion of talking to men is anathema, but most know that according to their lore, it will be a human who can talk to wolves who will warn them that it is time for them to take part in the Last Hunt, their name for the Last Battle. They don't know whether that will be Perrin or Elyas or someone else yet to be revealed to them, but most of them value this return, as they see it, to a time when men and wolves cooperated in the hunt. This despite the fact that the reappearance of such people tells them that the Last Hunt is coming.

    Interview: 2010

    Jay (8 July 2010)

Will we see the Dark One in WoT? Will he walk the earth and physically fight with Rand & Co?

    Brandon Sanderson (8 July 2010)

I can't tell you for certain about the Dark One. There WILL be a confrontation, though.

The last seals will be broken.

    Twitter 2011 (WoT) (Verbatim)

    Thomas Grossnickle (10 January 2011)

Aviendha's vision in Towers of Midnight made me wonder, how much will we get to see of what happens to the world after the Last Battle?

    Brandon Sanderson (10 January 2011)

    RAFO. :)

    Interview: 2012

    Brandon Sanderson (11 July 2011)

Today, I've been working on the tactics for the Last Battle, looking to make them as authentic as possible. A lot to keep in mind here.

Do you have a tentative time frame for when A Memory of Light will be out? Trying to figure out when to start my re-read.

Sometime next year. Hard to say specifically; depends on how long Harriet takes to edit.

Enough people are asking that I'll go over the A Memory of Light release timeline again here for you.

Goal: Turn in in the first draft November 8th. Following that, editing and revisions. Those are the uncertain part. 3-6 months are likely.

So, best case for the book out is March. Worst case is November next year. (Harriet has asked Tor for more time to edit this time.)

Didn't I read somewhere that Robert Jordan already wrote the last chapter?

    He did. It's great.

    Interview: Jun 16th, 1995

    Robert Jordan

When Moghedien ripped out Birgitte from Tel'aran'rhiod she "short-circuited" the Pattern, by bringing in an adult "in the flesh" instead of letting Birgitte join Gaidal Cain the "normal" way. He said also that Gaidal Cain may not have any role to play in Tarman Gai'don. ["may"—consider that—my note]
