    Interview: Dec 6th, 2012

    Question

And so like the Windrunners, they’re just one Order of the Knights Radiant, aren’t they?

    Brandon Sanderson

Yes they are, in fact they are- every order is a grouping of one of these [points to the large symbols on the Radiant tables] and two of these [points at the smaller symbols], these are the Surges. So these are the ten, sort of forces. And so Windrunning is pressure and gravitation, which are those two. But the Skybreakers are right there [points to gold symbol in the upper middle], with a different combination and each of these different groupings would make one order of the Knights Radiant. And that is the symbol of the Windrunners, right there on the cover. [Points at the swordgylph under the dust jacket]. So, fun little easter-egg type things there.

    Interview: Mar 21st, 2014

    macros

I finally asked if he could write anything in my book that we did not already know about the Skybreakers. I will upload the picture when I get home but it is the second oath of the Skybreakers which says:

    Brandon Sanderson

"I will put the law before all else."

    Interview: Mar 8th, 2014

    Jerich ()

Are the Skybreakers kind of like the MPs of the Knights Radiant?

    Brandon Sanderson ()

Hmm... (Thinking) ... Yes. That is actually a really good analogy.

    Interview: Mar 8th, 2014

    Jerich ()

Are there radiant orders that would take someone like Adolin even after what he does at the end of Words of Radiant?

    Brandon Sanderson ()

Brandon: I am not going to say whether or not Adolin will become a Knights Radiant, but yes, there are several orders that would be very happy with what he did. Me: Like the Skybreakers or Dustbringers? Brandon: The Skybreakers would probably not want him because he broke a law, but there are other orders that would think he completely did the right thing and be very happy with him. Trickonometry (who was waiting in line behind me): Like the Dustbringers? Brandon: (Didn't say anything but looked up at him, smiled and half nodded)

    Footnote

This question refers to Adolin's slaying of Sadeas.

    Interview: Feb 25th, 2016

    Question

So in the Stormlight Archive, they have the two Surges, and they have a third power effect, right?

    Brandon Sanderson

They have kind of effects on each other, like a reverberation. Yes. I wouldn’t call it expressly a third power, I’d call it interactions.

    Question

So, it seems like...you don’t have to confirm anything, but it seems like Kaladin is able to transfer his powers to his men following him…

    Brandon Sanderson

The Windrunners are known for having lots of squires.

    Question

And the Skybreakers seem like they’re really good at hunting people down.

    Brandon Sanderson

I’m not going to answer any of those! But good questions!

    Interview: Dec 3rd, 2016

    AndrewHB

Is Niccolo Machiavelli's political theory, the ends justify the means, incompatible with the Knights Radiants' First Oath?

    Brandon Sanderson

No. Although many of the Orders of KRs would find Machiavelli's theory that the ends justify the means incompatible with additional Oaths and/or values of that Order, there are some Orders who could accept a Machiavellian. Brandon said that the Skybreakers where a Machiavellian could find a home.

    Question

As Brandon was signing my books, I asked if the Elsecallers would also accept a Machiavellian.

    Brandon Sanderson

    Yes.
