Predictions Made About: Mordeth

Rating: 4.17

Padan Fain/Mordeth will be sealed in the Dark One's prison with him for eternity, where they will battle amongst themselves for eternity. This is alluded to by the wound in Rand's side which could only be sealed off from Rand after Fain cut him.

Fain has met Mazrim Taim at least once, and used his abilities to influence him.

Rand is going to use the creature formerly known as Padin Fain while sealing the bore .. As the darkness of Mordeth and the dark one cancel each other out ..

He will be a character similar to Gollum in that he will eventually save the day. At the last battle it will appear to him that Rand is dead and so in his fury he will turn on the Dark One and raise havoc which will turn the tide of the war.

As we've seen the Shadar Logoth evil contend with and destroy DO evil (as in the Cleansing), so to will Fain's Power destroy Moridin's Power.

Padan Fain will destroy machin shin, and maybe kill one of the forsaken before TG.

In the LB there will be a stalemate between Rand and Moridin in using the power. Padan Fain will imbalance this in favor of Rand by wounding moridin with the SL dagger screaming `he is mine`

This is more of a response to a previous prediction, but Fain can sound the Horn all he wants: it only responds to the first to blow it (ie Mat).
I guess I see Fain being inserted into the main plot once again in KoD. I'll go out on a limb and say he'll not live to see TG, though.

With Shadar Logoth destroyed Fain is all that remains of its evil. He will face Rand at Tarmon Gaidon, possibly just before the FINAL showdown, and will be slain. Rand will thus succeed in completely destroying one great evil.

The ruby in Mordeths dagger is Mordeths life source. Destroy the ruby, you destroy Mordeth.

When Rand and Shaidar Haran are fighting in the last battle, Fain will kill SH with the dagger because Rand is his. In doing so he will weaken the dark one enough to let Rand seal the bore. Meanwhile Mat will kill Fain.

I think Fain will end up sort of like Gollum being the pitied creature who ends up being a saviour of sorts.

I believe Padan Fain (Mordeth) is hiding out in So Habor, and So Habor is becoming the next Shadar Logoth.

Padan will be a part of Rands plan to re-seal the bore. Padan will because he hates the DO almost as much as Rand, when its done hell lash out at Rand and spill his blood on the rocks of Shayol Guhl. Then Logain will kill Padan.

Fain will disrupt plans of both light and dark, and will be the deciding factor in who wins the final battle, rather than Rand or Moridin or the Dark One.

When Rand goes to that obvious trap of a meeting with Suroth and her Daughter of the Nine Moons.... Padan Fain will be there.

Fain will Kill Shaidar Haran at TG

By Squire on 2005-02-12

Fain will not be the gollum character who sacrifices himself out of greed or alturism. Fain will be at the last battle, and Rand will figure out that he is the only way to seal the bore and then throw him in.

Mordeth will be at Tarmon Gai'don and unpurposely decide the battle in favor of the 'Light' forces.

I believe that Fain will be used to seal the bore, or that in studying what he has become the answer to resealing the DO in a prison that he cannot escape himself will become known.

Mat will kill Fain in the last battle

By Strongbow on 2003-06-05

I think Fain will be the LB's wild card. Others have mentioned a gollum-like character and I agree. He will be instrumental in helping Rand reseal the bore.

I think that Fain will prove the key to building a new prison for the Dark One. In a few places, it's been made clear that the evil of Mordeth and that of the Dark One are violently opposed (i.e. Rand's wounds, cleansing the taint), so he will likely prove the key to either making a seamless patch for the Bore or a new prison altogether. I'm no Aginor to figure out how to do it, but I'll look forward to book 12 or whatever to find out.

I have figured out a way that they may clear the ways! The ways are all that remain of the taint on Saidin and Padan Fain's dagger is all that remains of the evil of Shadar Logoth. I believe once Padan Fain is killed his dagger will be used to clear the ways once and for all. This way the evil of Shadar Logoth will actually be taken care of completely.

Fain will blow the horn of Valere at the last battle to keep the DO from killing Rand. Too many references to someone of shadow using HOV for it not to happen.

I predict Padan Fain/Mordeth will attack Rand at least one more time before TG, but his attempt to kill Rand will fail possibly with the price of the death of a minor character or a more imprtant character like Davram Bashere. Another possibility is that
