Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Asmodean's Demise

A new collection of ramblings from your favourite mouse!!! About Asmodean's demise, I have three theories. Unfortunately, None of them is conclusive and I don't have proofs, only my own reasonings (that's why I have THREE instead of one like everybody else). I'll put them in order:
First, the revolucionary view: Asmodean is not dead. He is the person who has the second Moridin's mindtrap. In my favour I have an inmediate hunch (the theory appeared as soon as I read Moridin's chapter in ACoS), and the words "and death took him". Remember, Moridin means death.
CON: How did Asmodean recognice Moridin? That is the mayor flaw in my theory. But remember, we don't know WHO Moridin is (maybe Beidomon, Lanfear's friend... mmmm, nice idea, I'll have to think on it). Asmodean could know him
Second, the killer is... My Lanny! I think than Lanfear is the coolest of all forsaken, when she is not having any psychotic episode, and she did have reasons for killing Asmodean. Moreover, Asmodean DID have reasons for crying "You? No!" When he saw her. She would be the perfect one for the killing, if not for her little 'finnish problem...
CON: The "'finnish problem". She is alive, and I'll accept than she can leave 'finnland on her own (though I'm not so sure myself), but how could she finish Moraine, leave the tower AND travel to Caemlin to kill Asmodean? Where did she found the time? How did she discover where Rand and Asmodean where?.
Third, a case for Grandeal or Sammael (probably Sammael). They were in a little coven with Ravhin and Lanfear. Let's assume than, if Sulin could discover were Rand was going, the forsaken could too. So they all knew that Rand was going to attack Ravhin instead of Sammael (proof: Ravhin had traps and trollocs in Caemlin. He knew). If I were them, I would make a small change in my plans and decide to let it lie: Ravhin as a bait and the other three as the trap. Lanfear did not appear (she was busy diing and all this), but, for Ravhin's surprise when Rand appeared, Sammael and Graendal did, but decided not to attack Rand. Ravhin was surprised about Rand's appearance in the throne room, not by his appearance in Caemlin, because he though than his allies would be taking care of the problem. They did not and Ravhin died. A pity. The interesting thing is this: The inner city was deserted except of trollocs and guards. The same for the palace. But Rand, chasing Ravhin, met two very frightened servers: a man and a woman. What were they doing in a Trolloc infested palace? They were Sammael and Grandeal, and they were there in Caemlin's Royal palace for the trap, which they did not set. A while later, Asmodean is killed. One of then did it (not both, because they wondered about his death when alone) Who? I think that it was Sammael, for a simple reason. The next day, Grandeal says than Moghedien and Lanfear failed to appear at two set meetings. Grandeal left Sammael to attend one of the meetings, and he killed Asmodean. CON: Both forsaken's reactions of thir lack of knowdeledge are very convincing. I never suspected of any of them till the strangeness of the two servants stuck me. Actually, it could be, but I don't really think so. Myself, I prefer Lanfear, but that is a subjective opinion. And last, who did not kill him: I have seen some theories regarding Ishamael, but he couldn't be. Reason: Asmodean DID recognice his killer. If Ishamael has been resurrected, he has a new body, like Osan'gar and Asan'gar. Asmodean could not have recogniced him. The same argument cancels Osan'gar and Asan'gar. AND they were still dead at the moment, anyway, which is a very good aliby.

I like the "and death took him" proof for Moridin, although I don't believe that Asmodean would have recognized him. Good points.

I also support the theory that it was Moridin who grabbed Asmoden ('death took him)and now has his mind-trap. I haven'theard RJ say otherwise or come up with a better theory. I believe Moridin is Beidomon and therefore Asmoden would know him from before the breaking of the world thereby explaining his suprised exclamation "You? No!"

RJ was asked this question in one of his interviews and said that he wasn't playing on words, that Asmodean really died there.
