rologue of tPoD

by Travis Davis: 1998-10-08 | Not yet rated

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Who is Moridin?

I think the PoD prologue provides enough information to assume that Moridin is Ishy. The way Moridin is speaking about knowledge being lost in the turnings of the wheel smacks of Ishy. Plus, he must be from the AoL because of his knowledge of the board game. These facts don't provide concrete proof, but they strongly point toward Moridin being Ishamael reborn.

They do strongly point to Ishamael because we know him, but I wouldn't rule out Beidomon just yet. (I hope it ain't Ishy, they have already had three battles to end three books, why another).

The evidence is too great after reading the prologue. Their personalities fit like a glove. Now the only question is, did Ishy ever die?

After reading the prologue to Pod i believe that morindin is ishamael returned. he is obviously someone from the Aol and he speaks of the recreation of a game only nine people living in this world would remember. furthermore i believe this is a complicated game of stones that ishy played while he was still elan morin tedronai against lews therin.

he also remembers how he had tried to destroy his enemy in a moment of desperaation. surely ishy was desperate when he tried to kill rand in tDR.

we also know that ishy liked to control events. once again mention is made of morindin thinking that rand already moved according to his design in a greater game.

I've read the PoT prologue...now I'm absolutely sure Moridin IS Ishamael! Who has ever tried to control Rand? Ishy! Who is the most likely of the forsaken to be a master of Sah'rah? Ishy! Who has tried to win the "game" using a "bloody melee" in desperation, and paid for it painfully?Ishy(in TDR)! Plus: the room used by Moridin is the same seen by Rand in the first book(when he confronted Ishy but even before in his dreams, look at the fireplace)and the servant is of the same kind used in TGH prologue. He cannot be Beidomon because his words indicates he has fought Rand, now Moridin has never fought Rand (maybe helped...) and I cannot recall any character who could be Beidomon having fought Rand, or tried to control him for that matter. And then, why think to a character mentioned only once in the whole series, when you have a character that has kept the series alive with his plots for so many time? RJ belives in symmetry, and Ishy has ever been the central enemy, he has the same strongness of Rand, he has been presented immediately in the first pages of the series. The other Forsaken represent extreme aspects of human personality, Lanfear-ambition,Demandred-hatred,Be'lal-envy, and so on...Ishamael has ever been totally inhuman, pure darkness, his role has ever been greater than that of the others. Why he has only been half-imprisoned? I don't know but to me, that is a very important thing.. And, Tamyrlin why do you hate him so much? Are you bored of him ever fighting Rand?Well, do you remember how the wheel works?(It never ends, Al'Thor, and , I've whon again Lews Therin...) In my opinion the whole series is written for the battle between Ishy(the Shadow) and Rand (the Light). Obviously this is only what I belive true and i may have misanderstood the whole series.See you(?).

Okay, yes I am bored of the Rand/Ishy fight, 3 strikes and you are out, who wants to see number 4, it would be so anticlimatic, like seeing Nightmare on Elm Street part 15. Ishy is not the shadow, he is just the most arrogant of those that work for the shadow. He did so for thousands of years and was starting to consider himself the DO. Do you truly want him back? So he can lose again? It is to predictable, I don't think Moridin and Rand will duke it out at the end and if they do and Moridin ends up being Ishy reborn...then I am wrong.:)
