Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Who is Tam al'Thor?

Who was Tam Al'thor. well first thing to ask would be "does this have any relevance what so ever to the plot of WOT" I for one don't think so. so yeah you can fantasize all you want about him being a warder to his wife and all but lets face it his ship has sailed he's had a pretty full life and is quite content to be a farmer. so what if he was once a soldier so what if he raised the dragon reborn the point is that it doesn't matter who he WAS all that matters is who he IS and who he IS a retired soldier turned farmer turned teacher to young protectors of the two rivers turned farmer again and worried father of the man that is humanity's only hope.

Actually when RJ first came up with the idea for this book Rand/Tam were going to be the same person. So as his story developed in his mind, I am sure that the Tam side does play an important role at sometime later in the series. His history is what is relevant. Especially now that Rand has taken over Illian. Did Tam leave on a bad note, or do the Companions still remember him. Was he a Legend among them? I don't think his 'ship' is done sailing...but that has yet to be seen.
