His blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul"

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Prophecies, Foretellings, and Talents

I don't know about you guys but i've got the feeling Rand doesn't die. The line about his blood on shayol gul, which I think is the only alusion to his death, might mean that Luc/Isam might die there. Remember that Luc is Tigraine's brother and hence Rand's uncle. It might also mean Galad's death, but although I hate the selfrighteos bastard, he doesn't deserve to die. ( What he doesn't deserve either is Berelain). So well that is my theory, I guess it's pretty farfetched but hell, who knows with RJ.

I believe that you have the right aim, his blood can be many different people and we tend to take everything literally because of the wound he has.

OK, the prophecy regarding his blood on the rocks of Shayol Guhl (sp?) could very well have a less than literal translation. We have seen blood in the prophecies other times refer to bloodlines. Ex. "He shall be of the old blood (Andor) raised by an ancient blood (Manetheren)" Maybe that's not the exact quote, but it's close enough for our purposes. And there is also is other bloodline, the Aiel. The Aiel spilling their blood in the last battle could fulfill this prophecy also. And even if it should be a little more literal, he can shed is blood and live. Remember in book three when he is bleeding all over and jokes with Moraine about going to Shayol Ghul and getting it all over with? He shed a lot of blood then and didn't die.

I don't think it is going to be Rand's blood per se, but his 'blood'. Who else is of Rand's blood? Galad! They both have the samemother. This can all be backed up by the story of Rand's mother as told by Amys (?) after Rand's trip through Rhuidean. And by the foretellings by Gitara Morosa (?) telling of sending the Queen of Andor to the Waste(the queen complains about leaving a son behind in the Aiel story, this would be Galad) thus kicking off the control for the crown of Andor which ends with Morgase on the throne and marrying Galad's father to cement her hold. This makes Galad Rand's brother. And it is possible that it could be Galad's blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul. Now, this brings me to a second theory about Galad's part in all of this. Based on the rarity of Aes Sedai I am assuming that being able to channel is a recessive trait. Now, bear with me please, those that have the ability in-born and are going to channel regardless would get the gene from both parents and those that have to be taught to feel the source would get the gene from one parent. Given this premise, Rand has the spark in-born, so both his mother and his father (Aiel) passed the gene to him. Elayne also is an in-born channeler and has received the gene from both her mother (references have been made to Morgase's minute ability)and her father, who also happens to be Galad's father. Now, the chances that Galad has at least one gene from one parent is about 50% (please don't beat me up too much for this, based on if both parents have the gene, for each offspring there is a 25% chance both will pass the gene, 50% chance one or the other will pass the gene, 25% chance the gene does not get passed). This gives us a 50-50 chance that Galad (as well as Gawyn!) could be taught to channel. No one has tried to test either as far as we know. With Galad joining the White Cloaks, what would the ramifications be if he found out he could channel? Galad has attained rank quickly and I believe that he is going to see through the corruption and take control as Lord Captain Commander at some point. Thus, bringing the White Cloaks under Rand's banner. Or a faction of them anyway. Now if Galad finds he has the ability to channel and he always does the right thing, then how could he not go with Rand to fight the Dark One? Even if this means leaving the White Cloaks to do so. Even just going on the fact that Galad always does what is right would imply that he would have to follow Rand (besides who is going to fight Shadar Haran [the super- Myrdraal] other than a very skilled swordsperson? Granted this could be Gawyn as well).Sorry this went on so long, but I have yet to see anyone discussing this part of the Prophecies or any discussion pretaining to Galad's role in all of this. Feel free to break this up into as many different theories as you want. Always in the Light.

There are a lot of theories about Rand's blood at Shayol Ghul Being, not from him, but from a family member (Galad, Isam, etc.) But, I believe that it will be Rand's own blood from the wound in his side. In COS, Rand is cut from the dagger that Padan Fain carries from Shaddar Loggoth in the same spot that Ishmael stabbed him. Even the DO's armies of Trollocs and Fades won't go into Shaddar Loggoth without being pushed by someone more powerful because they fear it too. The way he was healed is that the 2 evils were separated from Rand and set against each other (Paraphrasing here). Rand's Blood that is spilled at Shayol Ghul will then be the blood from this old wound. The evil of Shadar Logoth will be spilt at Shayol Ghul and will battle the Dark One. Most likely disrupting him enough so that the Aes Sedai and Asha'man have a chance to reseal the Dark One's prison with the Shadar Logoth evil trapped inside to battle with the DO for eternity.

A lot of people seem to think that Rand will survive, and I know that this is not set in concrete one way or another, but speaking for myself, I don't want a bloody happy ending!! If Rand does not die soon after defeating the dark one, RJ will be ruining an unbelievably excellent series. Sorry.

This pre PoD cause I haven't read it yet, but it might work after. now we all know prophesy "his blood on the rocks of SG, the price that must be paid" etc.. Now everybody thinks that means Rand dies or else suffers from serious injury, but what if it is not him, but Galad? His blood, they're half brothers. Now from EotW Elayne, everybody says he does what is right. Now what could be more right than giving your life to save the world? Not to mention Elayne who feels he must protect, Egwene whom he loves, and whatever men serve under him at that point in time. Now Whitecloaks feel the use of the OP is evil, but Galad is more old school, it's just darkfriends he hunts, so even if he feels Rand is a threat he will believe that he must help him fight the DO. It would be ironic if one of the last scenes is Egwene and Elayne crying for Galad who they despise and Rand crying for the brother he never knew.
