Giving up half the light of the world..."

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Prophecies, Foretellings, and Talents

Im pretty sure no ones written about this but but not positive and im sure this is fairly obvious anywoay but hear it goes. If you looked at a paperback copy of aCoS our in the chapter into the woods if you have a hardback copy Min is thinking that she had not really lied when Rand asked about the viewing she had kept back. She thinks, what good to tell him he would almost certainly fail without a woman that was dead and gone? This person is obviously Moiraine Damodred. Unless RJ plans on having Rand dead or screwed beyond belief by the Last Battle Moiraine either has to find her way out or be rescued. I think Thom will rescue her due to Mins viewing where he pulls a blue stone like the one Moiraine wore out of a fire.

I will have to agree wholeheartedly with your assessment, Moiraine will be back but I think Thom will be saving Moiraine at the very end...

Remember the line about Mat "giving up half the light of the world to save the world" from the snake people? Well, I think this has to do w/ all the viewings of him plucking out his own eye and putting it on a balance scale... One of two of his own eyes, half of them... Half of what collects light and sees, etc. Half of his sight in darkness? Also-I think the all the bloody hands floating around everywhere (I believe mostly near Rand and Elayne) have to do w/ the Band of the Red Hand. Perhaps they shall be destroyed in the battle with the White Tower? Bloodied at least.

Not to be controversial but is it possible that he won't lose an eye and that these viewings are to be interpreted (not literally)? If so, what could he be giving up?
