Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Prophecies, Foretellings, and Talents

Just reading LoC again, and came across a couple interesting passages.

I don't know where the passage is for Rand binding North to East, or South to West, but on p.353, when Nicola has her first bout of the Foretelling the two lines that caught me where
"'The land divided by the return, and the gaurdians balance the servants. The future teeters on the edge of a blade.'"

When I combined this with the passage on p.435
"'Bair and Amys dreamed of you(Rand al'Thor) cutting the wetlands in two with a sword.'"

Now that was two, very strong references to a major division into to parts of the continent, west of the Spine.

I also don't believe that Rand interpreted it right, especially because he was wrong about the man next to him with a dagger to his throat, which he believed was a Gray man, but we all now know was Taim. RJ also likes to have certain elements, like foretellings, viewings and dreaming not be interpreted by the characters, and instead be left up to the reader.

I wish someone could show me the passage about the whole binding the North and East, South and West, or whatever that was it would help support my theory.

I also believe, from the use of the words "the return" in Nicola's Foretellng, that it will be a division between the Seanchan, and Rand's nations. The Seanchan are to powerful to be run over quickly, like the Tairens, and to biased to be brought into alliance, like the Borderlanders were. Not neglecting the astounding number of damane that keep coming. In my own fantasy world I like to think Mat will make things right after he marries Tuon, but that Seanchan society is more screwy than ji-e-toh.

Another interesting thing that a blade was mentioned in the foretelling, and a sword in the dreaming. I have no idea what to make of this but there seems to be something important to it.

From the advances the Seanchan have been making, the whole concept of Rand having the North and East and the Seanchan having the South and West is coming true...where the dividing lines will be we don't know.
