In the Portal Stone multi-verse, when Egwene was married to Rand, she healed him when he had one of those channeling fever thingies (remember the headaches). By the way, this is is the Accepted test. She healed the channeling fever, but in the "real" world, she has almost no talent for healing. (This is when Rand and Avi shield and bind the Seanchan prisoners, on there way back from the snow hut)

I was thinking that Talents may come about by what you do with the Power early on. Nynaeve has almost always used the Power for Healing, before Moiraine found her. The first time she channeled, she healed Egwene's breakbone fever, and probably kept on healing people cause that is what she 'needed the power for in situations where nothing else helped'. So, Nynaeve, is a phenominal healer. This isn't a connection, but a posibilty. Remember, Nicola can Fortell. Well, the first time she did so, was when the bubble of evil was in Salidar. She was probably thinking 'what the f--k. How can I fight what I don't understand'. She joined the link, and suddenly, she had the fortelling. Maybe her anxiety caused her to get the Talent.

Of course, there's weird stuff like Dreaming. When Egwene first Dreamed, she was on her way to Tar Valon. She might have had a chance touching with Tel'aran, and was channeling spirit in her sleep...

(This is all coming from the simple difference of Talents that Egwene had in the different Portal Stone Worlds). Rand doesn't seem to have any Talents, and his first touchings were stuff like causing the post thingy on the Spray to knock the Trolloc away from him, and killing people at the Eye. Since he did nothing but destruction, he doesn't have any Talents...?
