adan Fain. Is He a Loose Thread or Outside of the Pattern?

by Thump: 1998-08-14 | Not yet rated

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Miscellaneous Theories

It seems to me that Padan Fain may be "outside" of the Pattern. He initially was just a Darkfriend, but the DO "distilled" him and set him as a hound. Padan was not killed by Mashadar in EotW. He could have been lucky, I doubt it. Also the Black Wind in the ways "Spoke" to him and didn't kill him. The Black Wind and Mashadar are evil, but they are not creatures of the DO. Padan can capture Fades, Trollocs FEAR him. He has been touched by the DO but I think he may be even more powerful than any of the Forsaken. What do you think?

Evil can take make forms, an RJ has presented us with many. Mordeth(or Fain) is a combination of many types of evil with a distinct attitude. I always think of him as a rebel DO, a new breed of evil that desires to rule even that which created him. You have brought up a good point, (BTW: I would like to see Fain vs. Gholam) will we see Fain take on a Forsaken? It appears that his 'powers' are definitely increasing, will we see another Shadar Logoth?
