hy Alanna Will Die

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Miscellaneous Theories

Rand will become a beggar, cloak and rags and the whole nine yards. He will probably learn something he doesn't like from Cadsuane, but would that really be enough to drive Rand away from everyone and all his plans? Not enough, and weak if RJ went with that alone.

So, who have we seen so far that goes off on their own, not really alone, but with no other people for a while. Kept hidden and away from other people, but still have some, albiet limited, contact? ....the two warders we know and love-LAN and ELYAS(sp).

Elyas was once a warder, and while his AS is presumably alive since he says he doesn't want to bump into her any time soon(POD), he has taken his wolf eyes and gone to seclusion in the woods, where the only contact with people he has is with travelers yet he is not completely alone because of the wolves.

Lan, after losing Moi, wanders towards Myrelle. He is drawn to her,but he only knows a direction, hence his wandering. He is alone on his trip, secluded in Salidar, but has a new connection with Myrelle. He also states that he and Rand are alike in many ways b/4 leaving Cairhien, and although his grief is making those words, RJ likes to play us readers just like this.

So, Alanna dies and Rand, affected by the bond, taint, madness and who knows what else, looses it and goes off for a while to find himself. While he is alone, hence none of his old friends, allies or even aqaintances, he does have one thing that links him to the others, LTT.

I think that this will not happen,(the wandering) until close to the end, allowing Fain's character and role to be flushed out. Fain and Rand will have their final confrontation and this will be the driving force that pushes Rand, or maybe enables Rand, to overcome his current vagabond blues and face the world, ready to die (although if my view was posted anywhere it would say that LTT is going to get his final rest and Rand will still have to struggle with the world and life- hey lifes the hard part, death is easy).

Rand can now deal with the loss and continue to pick up where he left off.

Yeah I know that warders who lost their AS usually do not live long, but remember the things that must be done to maintain warders. Love-I think Rand has enough problems with this to keep him busy for a while, but there it is, threefold. I forgot the other(if there were three) And the third-Something so important that it is more important than their lives.(close enough) This worked for Lan because he loves Nyn and she is in mortal danger from Mog. Rand has an equally important mission-come on now boys and girls, we all know this one) and he is ta'veren, so sh"t will happen to kept Rand going.

Have fun trying to poke holes in that.

So you are saying that seeing Rand in 'beggar clothes' is a product of Alanna's death and Rand ensuing 'madness' after the bond is broken...I like that. The only potential hole I see is the fact that Rand is the Dragon Reborn. And although he might escape people I don't think he can escape the Wheel. Wherever he goes he brings change. And one last potential hole, we have never seen the effect of a broken bond when it is between two channelers. Already we know Alanna has absolutely no control like she would have over a warder so I don't think we can assume that the reactions are one in the same.
