haidar Haran Is Asmodean

by Ogan Daisy Cutter: 2000-11-16 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

Prior to Winters Heart I thought that Moridin was Asmodean, mainly because he was the only one to follow the DO orders and not attempt to kill Rand. Also I believe that it was Moridin who helped Rand escape Shador Logoth, Rand could not feel him channeling, so he was using the "True source" also I think black flecks in his eyes were mentioned. I can not see any other one of the forsaken saving Rand. Further I thought that Shaidar Haran was Ishamael. His punishment for loosing to the Dragon three times and claiming for three thousand years that he was the DO (Bealzomon). However, it would seem that after reading Winters Heart almost all the way through that Moridin is Ishamael, Damendread commenting to him self that he is even more insane then he used to be. So that leaves us with who is Shaidar Haran? Asmodean? I think it fits. For some reason he was unable or unwilling to break through the shield that Lanfer put on him. Is this why he seems to be using the true power? Is he !
still unable to channel sidin? Asmodean was vain and thought him self to be a great poet/musician would not a half mans body be the perfect punishment for him? This may also be where the second mind trap comes from that Moridin is wearing. Asmodean has already proven himself weak enough to turn from the DO a mind trap pretty much would prevent him from doing so again. Also Shaidar Haran knows a lot about the forsaken from the AoL he comments to himself about how Sammael was always too sure of himself and such. He must be one of the forsaken, the eyeless did not "hang out" with the forsaken during the AoL. Just a few thoughts I though I would share.

...well, I can't remember the first reference to Shaidar Haran...but...Shaidar Haran has a ton of power...considering what Asmodean did I don't think the DO will resurrect him, I think the DO even made reference to that one time when he was talking to Demandred.

I don't think so, I think Haran is the beginning of the dark lord breaking free, like the Myrdraal using scavengers as eyes and ears, I think Haran is the eyes and ears of the dark lord that are the closest he can come to getting out, Remember he can't stay away from the bore long. And asmodean is gone and dead, his ties to the dark one were cut and he could not travel to the bore to make new ones and would the DL except them? He is dead and with no tie he is unable to be ressurected.

Shaidar Haran isnt the DO he speaks for the DO. He is just like he says he is: a super-fade. As for being from the bore, he has his own personal thoughts, like a Forsaken almost. He WANTS to get free from the DO because he says **... too long away from Shuy Ghol, that link had to be severed** or something of the like. He dont want to be the DO voice he wants to be his own man. HES ALMOST PATRIOTIC :-P.

Another thing is that Ishamael being reborn as Moirdin would be a reward. Not for losing the Dragon three times, but for keeping the Black Ajah, Darkfriends, and keeping humanity from being united (IE: The end of Hawkwings empire with the War of a Hundred Years; The Trolloc Wars, when the Trollocs came into Manetheren they had the flag of Ba alzemon (sp).).

So even ONE of those would be enough to be reborn as Naeblis. Plus Ishamael surpassed everyone but LTT himself in strength, you think that they would give the position right below the DO to the weakest in OP?

Shaidar Haran is not the DO, but he IS an avatar of the DO. When you consider Christ as an avatar of God, then it's hard to see the difference.

BTW, am I the only one who is reminded of Darth Vader whenever SH grabs somebody by the throat, or appears in his "dead black robes"?

Actually Shaidy reminds me of Lurtz that big huge orc guy from LotR The Fellowship. I hope he dies the same way, by a main character killing him.

Who says this means he wants to be free of the dark one? To the contrary this could mean he wants to sever the link so he can serve the dark one furthur. If he can finally leave shayol ghul he can take a direct effect on the world.

If Shaidar Haran is Asmodean, Haran's thoughts I think would have reflected Asmodean's life like each of the New Forsaken have thoughts about their former life.

Also, it seems that Shaidar has been around for some time before his first appearance; this I am not certain on. If that is so, he could not hold Asmodean's soul while Asmodean is still alive.
