souls, one life and Osan and Asan'gar

by Therilon: 2002-11-14 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

The two names of the forsaken come from the names of dueling daggers. Moridin (I think) laughed when he gave them their names. While they have had a fairly unimportant part to play until now. I think that they will definitly be involved to infiltrate Tear, Illian, Seanchan, etc and cause CHAOS. I believe that the Dark One puts as much importance on Chaos as he does on defeating the Creator. Additionally, the Creator is passive, and will not affect the outcome in any way while the DO will. The Creator might have lost a battle to the DO when the WOT was first formed, and retreated to the Earth as LTT ancestor. Each time that LTT died, he was reborn as a varient on the one before, and the previous Dragon lived on in the head of the next Dragon, with a train of Dragons in each one's head. If the same happened to the Chosen, (Ishmael said- Remember, this is not just now, this battle has been happening for all the previous ages) then Osan and Asan'Gar would have been used as assasins for enternity.

Therefore, Rand has a succession of souls in him, and Osan and Asan's sole (soul) purpose is to kill Rand. Ishamael, the philosopher recognized this and found the irony in the names.

O'G and A'G are more sutle than the Gray Men, and will TRY to destroy all that Rand loves before striking at him, when he is weakened.

I think Moridin's humor had more to do with the fact that one of the new “daggers” was an old male Forsaken now in a female's body. Also, they were “demoted” to a servant role to Moridin where as they had before been on equal ground as Forsaken. The one problem with your theory in regards to the eternal nature of the ‘Gars is the fact that they were not the ‘Gars before this point. Unless you believe that every turning of the wheel, two Forsaken are killed but not permanently, and reincarnated by the DO to serve as Dragon assasins. Something more specific like that may work, but we don't have any other “turnings” of the wheel to compare this third Age.

Ishamael always believes that he has continually fought Lews Therin throughout the Ages as the DO's champion...but I don't know if you can find much supporting evidence that he is the incarnation of the DO and that LTT is the incarnation of the Creator.

Interesting thoughts. Thanks.

In all the excitement you forgot one small detail.

"We forgot to hook up the doll?"

No, wait... wrong detail...

Osan'gar, aka Dashiva aka AN OILY SMUDGE OF ASH is sorta dead. Again.

And this, like the "Siuan and Gareth are Barashelle and Anselar" theory is assuming that the Wheel is using the same people to do the same exact thing over and over and over. I sincerely believe it's not that rigid. While everyone is reincarnated repeatedly, the books say Rand is the only one who is a specific person Reborn. The same guys don't end up good or evil or Forsaken or woolheaded sheepherders, etc.

O'G and A'G awakened from their second death with their names, and were first met by Shaider Haran, who appeared to almost smile at O'G's first reaction to his new body.

I think the main irony in the names O'G and A'G is the fact that in the duelling the daggers they were named after were used in, both contestants usually died as the blades were coated in poison.

Also Shaidar Haran virtually promised them Nae'Blisdom if they fulfilled the orders given(exact quote was 'If you succeed, you will live forever and be placed above all others', p73 LOC)
