nification of the Aes Sedai

by Polarus: 2002-11-18 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: The Black Tower

In one of the book it says that Aes Sedai means "Servants of All", I submit the present Aes Sedai aren't really the same as the ones of the AoL. There needs to be Aes Sedai to balance out the Tower.

It is not simply a matter of Men being able to do things women can't, or vice-versa, it is also a Karma type issue. In other words, men's side has been neglected for 2000 years. That is why so many men have been able to channel, and therefore be recruited by the Black Tower.

I think the Asha'Man will conquer the Aes Sedai, but they will seek only to be readmitted. It isn't the Asha'man who have to change there thinking, but the female Aes Sedai.

Therefore, my theory is this. Egwene will not be able to take the White Tower by herself, and will have to get Rand to help. He will demand that the Asha'man be admitted to the tower, becuase the taint is gone so they have nothing to fear. This is what will cause Egwene's anger at Rand, she is as prejudiced as all the other AS.

Similar to the reason I don't believe the entire Seanchan population will support Rand has to do why I don't believe that up front, these two sides will happily and willingly reside together. The females have no way to truly verify the taint is gone (Cadsuane is even suspect when an Aes Sedai who bonded an Asha'man tells here that it appears to be the case). Imagine what those in the Tower will believe or not believe. I think the Aes Sedai, females, would reject this idea...and probably get rid of Egwene if she tried it. Egwene wants the tower to be whole again...and trying to mix the two at this moment in time seems like it would just boil the whole bunch into an insane frenzy. Mistrust, power hungry, politically motivated, and black ajah in the mix to keep it interesting. I believe they will be together eventually, but not exclusively before the Last Battle. But, Jordan has surprised me more than once, so your guess is as good as mine.

I don't think that Rand will want the Ashaman to be united with the WT just yet. He seems to be avoiding any entanglements with the Tower, and having his military body be incorporated into the tower might be classified as meddling. Besides, I don't think Rand trusts any Aes Sedai (including Egwene, but not including Elayne and Nynaeve) enough to merge the two Towers.

I think that eventually all channellers will be united in some form of organization, at some point. I think maybe even Egwene has it in the back of her mind when she say that everyone who can channel should be allowed a place in the tower(not exactly what she is saying but I think the idea is the same)

The question is ofcourse how. And I would wholeheartedly agree with silverwolf, execpt the implied opinion that Rand really has a say in the black tower. I don't think he does, I don't think Taim does, and I din't think Logain does. that leaves, yes nobody. And AS are starting to bond Asha'man.

I agree with the theory that Egwene need help, that she will ask Rand, That he will demand, that she is as stiff necked as Elaida on some points. I just don't see Rand as being influential enough to help her. Add in that the ball i already rolling in form of bondings, and that as I see it the Black tower is floundering for lack of leadership - It will happen all by it self, Egwene might see that after Rand makes the demand, make a Fuss "the woolbrained man is puffed up enough already no need to feed it" sniff
