hanneling Shadow Spawn

Ok Aginor created trollocs by taking a human being and blending them with animal DNA hence their the way they look, well what would happen if you took a human being that could channel and mixed it with the animal material? Why was no trolloc ever created that could channel? Admittedly they're to stupid to use the power but in theory it would only require one or two trollocs because they breed true, so they would pass the ability to their offspring like humans do and create an army of super trollocs. However this is still fairly useless because they're still to stupid to use he power but with increased numbers they would create something useful, a Myrddraal that could channel and even though they're random throw backs if enough trollocs channel then they could produce enough Myrddraal. As to how it would work, well to take the terminology off the forum; the human would need to be a born natural channeler or a born teachable channeler that had formed the body soul bridge. This means that the human stock must be able to channel at the time of the conversion (to a trolloc)and as long as the "spark" was not tainted by the transformation the desired result would be achieved. This of course could then lead to another idea, shadow spawn that can channel the True Power... the possibilities are vast.....

So i guess my theory is that it should be possible to have channeling shadow spawn but for some reason i cant see we dont.

(Frenzy for Tamyrlin)
Super Trollocs...i have visions of Uruk Hai dancing in my head. But i digress.
Aginor created Trollocs by blending Human and Animal stock. Humans have the ability to Channel, Animal's don't (as far as we've seen). We know from the Guide that it takes two components to channel: a body that can channel and a soul that can channel. We know from Interviews that Trollocs do indeed have souls, but pretty pathetic souls at that.
One theory i saw floating around (heck, it may even be mine, it's been a while) was that the chance throwback that created Myrddraal was the genetic chance of a channeling body. That combination of genetics and chance created the myrddraal. Funny thing about monkeying with breeding, you never know what'll happen. Even Aginor didn't know how the myrddraal do what they do.
One question you may want to ask yourself is does the shadow really want channeling Trollocs? Trollocs are difficult to control, think how much harder it would be to control them if they could channel.

The Myrdraal as Frenzy said are the "trollocs" that can channel. Anytime two Trollocs breed and both pass on the recessive channeling gene a Myrdraal is the result. This explains why 13 Fades are necessary to turn a channeler to the Shadow. Dreadlords are able to weave through the Fades suggesting that the mechanism for channeling does exist within them. It also helps explain all the Myrdraals freaky powers like "riding shadows".

As Davian said, Myrdraal are the channeling SS. But if you think about it no non-human is going to be able to reach the source (excepting maybe ogier, though I highly doubt it, they seem to have other powers) It takes an intellectual mind to be able to handle it. So much control and strentgh is neccessary. That is why animals can't channel. Trollocs aren't much more, and that is why I believe the "gene" causes the human throwback. I don't think they can channel, but they got other powers related to channeling. If it was possible to look at numbers, I would guess that the % or Myrdaal to Trollocs would be similar if not equal to the % of channeling humans to non channeling humans.

PS I just made a faction about this, so if you agreee please join ;)

pps I don't include wolves in the animal "catagorey", no I don't think they could channel, but they are their own catagorey.

I think the key point is that Trollocs and other Shadowspawn are only part human, but also debased by animal stock. Channeling is a human function, and the impure animal stock prevents it.

I don't think intelligence is an issue, you don't have to be bright to hurl a fireball, I think they are simply not physically equipped for it.

Is there any evidence for the "fades are trolloc channelers" argument? it's a neat idea, but I've never seen any argument to support it.

There are reasons of Myrdraals having some abilities regarding the OP. So Myrddraals can detect channeling, and as more Power is channeled, as easier the Myrddraal detects it, i.e. it works like the detection of channeling by passive channelers. (However Davian, I don't agree that Myrdraal's ability to ride shadows could have anything to do with channeling ability, for it would be easier to detect by Aginor in this case. The Riding Shadows is rather based on them being slight out of phase with time and space). The body of Myrddraals as having the animal stock in it, is maybe uncapable for active channeling, but a Myrddraal could be like a stilled channeler.

Good point. Perhaps I mispoke. It would be interesting to know how they do it and why the edge of a shadow is necessary.

well... in xanth creatures either use magic or are magic. Maybe the myrdraal are infused with the true power and like fain have powers as a side effect even while they can not activly channel.

I wasn't sure whether to add a separate theory for this, since it is similar to the premise of super powered shadowspawn. Anyway, I was thinking about grey men, who have the ability of non-detection, by giving up their souls. Since RJ confirmed that Trollocs have souls, is it possible to make Grey Trollocs? How about Grey Fades and Gholams? Grey Drakhar?

Thoughts?

I think I would concede that the fades could be the trolloc equivalent of being born with the spark. However, I think the out of phase thing is more like being a wolf brother...it is something that is part of you that you are born with
