Looks like it will Be known as A Memory of Light. So I'm guessing it will have to be on the cover.
And apparently Universal has the EotW movie rights now and plans to make the movie....and new comics? wow....
Tor announces The Gathering Storm, Book Twelve of Robert Jordan’s legendary Wheel of Time® fantasy series
New York, NY: Tuesday, March 31, 2009
Tor Books is proud to announce the November 3rd, 2009 on-sale date for The Gathering Storm, Book Twelve of The Wheel of Time (http://us.macmillan.com/series/WheelofTime) and the first of three volumes that will make up A Memory of Light, the stunning conclusion to Robert Jordan’s beloved and bestselling fantasy series. A Memory of Light, partially written by Jordan and completed by Brandon Sanderson, will be released over a two-year period.
Robert Jordan (http://us.macmillan.com/author/robertjordan), one of the greatest storytellers of the 20th and early 21st centuries, passed away in 2007 after a courageous battle with the rare blood disease amyloidosis. Brandon Sanderson (http://www.brandonsanderson.com/), the New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn books (http://us.macmillan.com/series/Mistborn), was chosen by Jordan’s editor—his wife, Harriet McDougal—to complete the final book.
The Wheel of Time series has sold over 14 million copies in North America and over 30 million copies worldwide with translations into 28 languages. The last four books in the series were all #1 New York Times bestsellers, and for over a decade readers have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion to the epic story.
Harriet McDougal said on the process behind A Memory of Light: “The scope and size of the novel was such that it could not be contained in a single volume. It was a piece of marvelous good fortune that Brandon Sanderson undertook the work. He is a great pleasure to work with, as well as a wonderful writer.”
President and Publisher of Tor Books, Tom Doherty, also expressed his happiness with A Memory of Light, saying: “It is a magnificent closure to a great American epic fantasy whose journey began almost twenty years ago. There is no way Robert Jordan would have squeezed it to a single volume, and somehow it seems fitting that what began as a trilogy will also end as one.”
The first ever JordanCon will take place this April 17th – 19th, 2009 in Alpharetta, GA. Harriet McDougal, Tom Doherty, Brandon Sanderson, and other members of “Team Jordan” will attend as featured guests and speak personally on The Wheel of Time and The Gathering Storm and the stories behind the rich literary legacy of Robert Jordan. JordanCon will also include a special preview of The Gathering Storm.
This year will also see major publications of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time comic books and graphic novels with the launch of The Eye of the World comics (http://www.dabelbrothers.com/index.php?categoryid=16&p2_articleid=44) in May and the New Spring graphic novel with bonus material in November. The Dabel Brothers will be releasing the comic book series, which will then be collected and published as graphic novels by Tor Books.
Universal Pictures acquired the movie rights to The Wheel of Timein August 2008, and currently plan to adapt The Eye of the World as the first movie.

Wot movies eh? This would be how manyeth thread for that discussion? Aside from the casting question do you think EotW will be divided into two movies? There is more than enough material and SL makes a good halfway point.
And for the eternal casting question. I'd say
Mat - Topher Grace
Rand - Orlando Bloom
Egwene - Natalie Portman
With almost every other character I can't come up with a good enough actor or can't deside between two or three actors.

Even Selma Hayek (who is smokin) might have trouble playing a character who is around 16-18 years old...just maybe pushing the bounds of credibility there.
I personally don't want to see a movie as they'll never do it justice and they'll likely butcher the books.

Boreals (sp) coud still play Lan, and Bones (deschanel?) Suian, her younger sis would make a good AS too, they have that look

Rand - Orlando Bloom
I would refuse to watch it. Nonstop, pompous shouting and no facial expressions is not acting...

Okay, I'll give this a try...
Rand – Joseph Gordon Levitt (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0330687/)
I really, really like this one; he has the acting chops to pull it off.
http://www.thecinemasource.com/moviesdb/images/Joseph_Gordon-Levitt%20-%201%20-%20Brick.jpg
Perrin – Tom Welling (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0919991/)
He looks like Perrin and again, he can act. He's huge.
http://images.eonline.com/eol_images/Profiles/20061006/244.welling.tom.100506.jpg
Mat – Jensen Ackles (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0010075/)
Again, looks the part and based on his work in Supernatural would be the perfect Mat.

Egwene – Bryce Dallas Howard (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0397171/)
Doesn't look the part but that can be remedied...
http://www.mtv.com/movies/photos/m/manderlay_050929/05.jpg
Min – Kristen Bell (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0068338/)
Her smile screams Min...
http://www.bartcop.com/kristen-bell-92.jpg
Moiraine – Jodie Foster (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000149/)
Pretty easy one here...
http://www.photomediagroup.com/archive/2004-spring/img/gg-jodieFoster.jpg
Nynaeve – Scarlett Johansson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0424060/)
Really intense actress, would really shine in this role, I think...
http://www.morphthing.com/showimage/2/0/0/1053/Scarlett-Johansson.jpeg
Lan – Clive Owen (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0654110/)
Perfect for the part, and he knows how to use a sword...
http://chartroose.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/clive-owen.jpeg
Thom – Peter O Toole (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000564/)
He is who I have always pictured in my mind as Thom...
http://bitsblog.florack.us/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/peter.jpg
Elayne – Jessica Biel (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004754/)
If you've seen the Illusionist you know she can pull this off...
http://fashionista.com/jessica-biel-picture-1.jpg
Avi – Yvonne Strahovski (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2088803/)
Acting chops is no problem and she has the physicality needed for the role down...
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2365/2042778081_a09fe67f67.jpg
Lanfear – Angelina Jolie (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001401/)
Struggled with this one, and went with an obvious choice...
http://www.erestlax.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/angelina_jolie.jpg
Tuon – Chrystee Pharris (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0679690/)

http://celebrity-pics.movieeye.com/celebrity_pictures/Ralph_Fiennes_618267.jpg
Faile – Megan Fox (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1083271/)

Cadsuane – Meryl Streep (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000658/)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/06/Adrien_Brody_1.jpg
Gawyn – Sebastian Stan (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1659221/)

http://l.yimg.com/l/tv/us/img/site/55/32/0000055532_20090311134727.jpg
Berelain – Anne Hathaway (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004266/)
I wanted to find a bigger role for her, but oh well...

Peter O'Toole as Thom is perfect.
"No." to your Rand. I'd prefer Tom Welling as Rand, though he's starting to age. I'm not sure he can pull off an 18 year old any more. They had to fast forward Clark's college to keep him ageless for Superman.
Jensen Ackels is totally Mat, but he's over 30 and frankly is starting to look it. Much as I LOVE staring at that man, i don't think he can swing an 18 year old any more.
I have no suggestions for Perrin. Hollywood seems to be short on big guys who can act. Most actors are scrawny. ;)
Bryce Dallas Howard has the same argument against her. She can't pull off a 16 year old. At all.
Kristen Bell is a good choice for Min. And since Min's a bit older than Rand, it would work. However, not sure she'd look good with dark hair. ;) As a second choice, I'd prefer Anne Hathaway.
I think Jodie Foster has been the most common actress put foward for Moiraine. It's a good choice.
Scarlett Johanssen is probably TOO young to play Nynaeve. ;) She still has that engenue air about her. If you've seen The Other Boleyne Girl, to me, she didn't really pull off the world weariness of a courtier very well. But then, that movie was totally stolen by Portman (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000204/), who I CAN see as Nynaeve.
Clive Owen would be a good Lan, but then, so would David Boreanaz. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004770/)
And no, Jessica Biel CANNOT pull off Elayne. Scarlett Johanssen would be a better Elayne. I'd put Jessica Biel in as Liandrin.
Yvonne Strahovski is too short for Aviendha, I think. Also, she doesn't have that air of pure fury that Avi does at the beginning. It's a hard thing to pull off.
As far as Tuon: Kandyse McClure (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2352320512/nm0565973)is a better choice. Possibly, Ashanti (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1215338/) would be even better, though both are pushing the age factor.
And I prefer John Malkovich (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000518/) as Moridin. He doesn't need make up to look creepy. ;) Ralph Fiennes is too pretty.
And I think we just need to keep the Gollums with the same actor. Andy Serkis (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0785227/)is still perfect as Padan Fain. I'm sure Adrian Brody would be better as Child Byar.
Do not allow Megan Fox anywhere near this movie, please. ;) If you must, just not Faile. She's not bitchy enough. She MIGHT pull off Egwene. I'd say Anne Hathaway as a better choice for Faile.
Since Meryl Streep doesn't do Sci-fi/Fantasy AT ALL, I'd like to humbly suggest Susan Sarandon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000215/) for Cadsuane. She was excellent as Princess Wensicia Corrino in Children of Dune.
I dunno about your choice for Gawyn. I'd think the guy who plays David, Christopher Egan (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0250659/), would be better, he's got the right coloring, after all. ;) Perhaps Sebatien Stan for Galad?
Just to stay within the cast of Kings, I'd like to suggest Ian McShane (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0574534/) for Gareth Bryne.
And last but not least, Alice Kridge (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000481/) for Elaida.

Topher Grace could do that too, if only to make the "evil Mat" idea gain a bit of credibility.

I cannot stand David Boreanaz.
Wasn't Meryl Streep in a Series of Unfortunate Events? Or am I mistaken...
You don't think Megan Fox is bitchy enough? She looks bitchy, and I think it's withen her acting range to pull it off...
If only we turn Thomas Jane back in time to be Perrin...
I'm sure Tom Welling could pull Rand off, but the age thing is what took him out of it; I think Perrin can afford to look a little bit older...

Should I be worried that Ishara and I agree on both, ahem "actresses"???
Now if she could only see the light on how evil Jen Aniston was to Brad Pitt, we'd be in complete harmony on our celeb opinions...she's still whining about their relationship 5 years after she divorced him...get over it, crazy!
Great female actresses (for movies at least)
Judi Dench (I honestly think they let her just ad lib in the Bond movies at this point...she could play Cadsuane awesomely I think...its basically what I picture anyway...only with an ageless face.
Meryl Streep - never wins Oscars because she's always great...so she doesn't ever stand out from her other performances...she's amazing in everything she does...very versatile...consider her in Kramer vs. Kramer and then realize she was in Devil Wears Prada and even Mamma Mia (hey its in my signature, I had to go there).

This from a Dutchie??If we dump an 'h' into a name, there's a chance that we actually pronounce it.
How do you pronounce the 'h' in Ihvon, Aviendha, Melindhra, Semirhage, Rahvin or Rhuidean?
For that matter, which of the two 'h's in Luhhan should be pronounced?
Terez
04-08-2009, 08:13 AM
If we dump an 'h' into a name, there's a chance that we actually pronounce it.
A chance, sure. But there are often 3 or 4 consonants in a row that definitely don't get pronounced individually.

If you are going to delve into the language of Hs, Gonzo, maybe you could also pose a question on how the following word becomes how it is pronounced:

A chance, sure. But there are often 3 or 4 consonants in a row that definitely don't get pronounced individually. You are an optimist, I think. Though I have to admit that in some cases we have combinations of consonants (or vowels) that stand for one particular sound.
Can you give examples of where you think we're dropping letters?
Brian, I think that comes from Welsh (or Irish, or something like that), where resemblance between spelling and pronounciation is not merely accidental, but actually discouraged.

It's a Celtic/Gaelic spelling. I know where it comes from, that wasn't my point. I am suggesting that Jordan could have been following something similar.

Jessica Biel is famous for her body, specifically her ass. And possibly for being scowly anytime the papparazzi (that she calls btw) take her picture with Justin Timberlake. That is all. She she doesn't have any upcoming projects of any significance, and her latest movie is being released straight to video, despite the act that she strips. She's a hack.
Meryl Streep is a goddess. She would be a kick-ass Galina too, or maybe a Gitara Moroso in flashbacks?
