Which is faster?

So, you guys with internet savvy, tell me which method would get TGS in my hands the fastest

1. Amazon with their fastest delivery option (when do they ship anyways?)

2. Camping and bumrushing (god bless you master duncan) the local B&N at opening. (the usual method)

3. Or amazon.co.uk when orbit releases the book a week early like usual?

I think local B & N is the best option as you'll get it the day it comes out and honestly won't have any issues in obtaining it. I've never once had an issue getting the new book the day its out and I've been doing it that way since around LoC. Heard horror stories about the Amazon preorders though.

If you've got the budget to support it and absolutely have have the very first copy sold, then go with all three -- the worst hat will happen is that you wind up with three copies if Orbit doesn't ship a week early so you can skip B&N and cancel the other Amazon pre-order.

I concur with Davian on this. I'm not in the US (though we're part of the US distribution chain) but I never got any problem getting the book from any chain on the day of release. Actually, there was a mix up in distribution at one book chain for WH, but the other chains all had it.

Amazon is often very reliable for this, but I've heard bad stories.

Can't talk about Amazon.uk, I never made the experiment with them and for books, but based on past experiences with CDs/vinyls bought in London, it can go wrong on occasions - delays at customs etc. You might get the book a few days before the US release, or a few days late. You'll know better when Orbit states their release date. They don't match Tor's for all sort of considerations, they may not release it earlier this time.

I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer. In fact I'm sure it would be better for me not to get it during fall semester or I'll get behind in my classwork. It's probably better if I wait until Christmas break or something.

I'd like to say that I'll be there on the day of release to get my copy but, if I have it, I won't be able to stop myself from reading it.

Lot of cute honeys in Europe, alas, I don't think I'll be able to move there before november. Good idea WH but I don't think I can take that many Sweet Covers. The trauma might be too much. Yeah BN is the sure bet I think. I've been doing it that way since tpod myself, just, I thought I heard some stories about people ordering from amazon and getting it like the night before it was released, although that could just be an urban legend.

Funny story, the wot book I had a hard time getting was Knife of Dreams. I think I even reserved it and I went to the eastside barnes and noble and they didn't even have Knife of Dreams. I think it was an order mix up or delay or something like that. I was heartbroken and crestfallen. If only I'd known how much Elayne and Faile awaited me. Anyways drove over to the west side BN and they had 500 copies. No lie, they had the promotional display and then another table stacked higher than my head with hardbacks. Was pretty awesome...or awesomely bad cover art at least.

I'll probably look to see if Costco is carrying TGS, like they did J.K. Rowlings books on release day. Or compare the release day sales of my local B&N and Borders books, with prefer towards Borders.

Amazon is a great online store, but I'm fine with walking 15 minutes over to, my local stores Borders and B&N. Or driving over to Costco on that day. After waiting this long since the last Day, I don't want to wait on a deliver. ;)
