But I tend towards handling my personal business, privately. However, my daughter is having Adenoid/Ear tube surgery tomorrow. She has a significant blockage (adenoids) which for the first four years of her life have caused a weekly runny nose, and some small hearing problems, mostly low (because she can't proper drain fluid). Anyway, your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

I'm sure I will be crawling up the walls for the hour or two tomorrow morning while she is undergoing the procedure.

I hope she has a successful surgery, Tam. Try not to stress too much!

Try to be as calm as you can be, Tam. I've recently dealt with similar stresses with my family, and know how much a bit of calm makes a difference.

Bunches of prayers from me and mine to your daughter and you and yours.

Tam- being a parent of small kids, I can imagine to how you must be feeling.

Many warm thoughts coming your way, and I"m saying a prayer right now.

My close friend had a daughter who underwent the same surgery, and the results were well worth it. She also had many of the same problems, plus she had to mouth breath and that affected her speech etc. Anyway- it is a nervous time but it will likely have many benefits for your little girl.

Of course all best wishes to you and yours Tam - as always. I'll cross my fingers that the surgery is easy, that the Princess gets lots and lots of icecream and that the results are wildly successful.

Sending good thoughts your way.

I too will say a prayer for your daughter and you and the rest of your family. It is always stressful.

My youngest daughter is recovering from stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and I too appreciate how one can agonize over one's children and their trials under the knife.

Wish you well, friend.

From what I understand, this is a relatively common procedure, so hopefully nothing to really have to worry about right? Either way, I hope everything turns out perfect!

I'm sure everything will be fine. Adenoidectomies on infants are very common and very low risk. This being done as an outpatient procedure, right?

that the Princess gets lots and lots of icecream and that the results are wildly successful

I don't mean to nitpick, and I'm sure your doctor told you this, but just in case: ice cream is not good after an adenoidectomy. Cold and icy foods are, but not dairy.

I gave you guys fair warning before my hiatus. On the medical stuff, I can't hold the professor back.

Nor would we expect you to...or Marie to hold back on chemistry/physics stuff, or Snow to hold back on epidemic stuff, or Uno to hold back on history, etc....

Fingers are crossed for you Tam! I'm sure she'll come out fine. :D

The doctor said there was a complete blockage and thick fluid in her ears, so I'm glad we went ahead with getting this done. Zoe is doing well - thanks again for your thoughts, advice, and prayers.

Woohoo! I'll still be thinking of her during the recovery- stay strong little one :)

(no worries Yuri- I was just teasing. The nurse in me will come out from time to time as well, when needed)

Glad she's doing well. Hope you & the Lady of the Board are as well. In theory this should improve her hearing and health by like 1,000%. One thing you'll want to make sure of is that she sees a speech therapist. Having blocked ears during the formative stages of learning to talk can creaate what's called an auditory discrimination. She couldn't hear the sounds properly, so she can't make them properly. But speech therapy can help her fix that. Don't wait. Well, maybe wait until she's no longer on the otter pop diet. ;)

Great news! I guess instead of icecream, gelato? Frozen yogurt? Um, juice?

In all seriousness, I'm so glad that things went well.

Good to hear things went well, Tam. And for your daughter as well, 4A.

What about warm yogurt? Is that ok after an adenoidectemy?
