He goes out every morning, goes scraping to get a few dollars cause he can't get a job
Suddenly I don't feel quite so poor...
You'd think, though, that if he's bent down pulling metal by the tracks, he'd have seen, heard, or felt vibrations indicating the train was coming... poor guy

A copper scavenger can make a couple hundred dollars a day if he works hard enough. Copper piping is worth a ton of money to the right people.

There was a guy who just got arrested in my home town for copper scavenging a couple of months ago. This guy with the train doesn't sound like his trade was nearly so lucrative as with the copper market.

Well...it is quite illegal to do afterall. When the home across the street from my condo burned down the scavengers were out the next night digging through the wreckage for all the piping...when I took my dog out at 6 am, they were loading the last of it into their pickup truck.
