There weren't strange happenings, weddings, etc. swirling around the Two Rivers when they were growing up, so they obviously weren't Tavern as kids.

I don't think Rand was Tavern until the trollocs attacked the Two Rivers in EotW.

Then, Perrin, not until he was exposed to Elyas and the wolves. Until then, there wasn't much special ability in him.

Mat, he turned Tavern when he got the dagger from Shadar Logoth. That's what led to his uniqueness developing (the old memories).

AFAIK Jordan said they turned ta'veren just before or at the opening of the tEotW. Remember the ta'veren happenings, twisting of chance and everything else is random at best and only happens a small percentage of the time. I think Mat has the greatest frequency of weird shit happening, but remember a lot of that is the dagger, and has nothing to do with him being ta'veren.

i remember a Jordan Interview or something saying that the ta'veren-ness was turned on when Moiraine entered Emonds Field.

Though you could argue that the only reason he got the dagger was the result of his ta'vereness.

lmao. Yeah Dav you could argue that and I would agree with you if you did. Too bad Moiraine never followed through with her thought to seduce Rand, that would have been funny to read.

It helps to post this in the correct thread... but yeah, as mentioned before, the boys became ta'veren just before Moiraine arrived.

Crossroads of Twilight eBook "Glimmers" Interview

Q: Does ta'veren-ness ebb and flow as needed? If Rand, Mat, and Perrin were all ta'veren growing up, it seems that the Two Rivers would have had a lot of odd events occurring, but no mention is made of it.

RJ: You might say that ta'veren-ness ebbs and flows. For one thing, remember that even for someone like Rand, the effects are really occasional, not continuous. Even when he is causing dozens of coincidences in a particular place, many more events pass off quite normally. For another thing, no one is born ta'veren. Rand, Mat, and Perrin only became ta'veren just before Moiraine appeared. You become ta'veren according to the needs of the Wheel. Like the Heroes linked to the Wheel, who are spun out as needed to try to keep the weaving of the Pattern straight, a man or woman becomes ta'veren because the Wheel has "decided" to use them as an influence on the Pattern. And, no, the Wheel isn't sentient. Think more of a fuzzy logic device that uses feedback to correct what it is doing in order to do it in the most efficient way.
