Now that would suck...if you need an air ambulance you're in pretty bad shape to begin with. If you can't fit on the helicopter...you're in pretty big trouble.

hmm...I don't think my definition of "thin" has anything to do with being able to fit on a helicopter...

I don't think it does for most people...

you should hear the stories my daughter brings home from her EMT work - her gurney has a 650lb weight limit, and it's amazing how often that's not enough. And people who get stuck in their bathtubs, or won't fit through doors.......who need to be schlepped into the ambulance on a tarp by about 10 fire guys......

I saw a program about the fattest people in the world (shock horror, it was american;)), and one guy hadn't got out of his bed for 4 years, and they had to use two gurneys to move him, as well as demolishing the wall, because he literally couldn't fit through the door.
(and here I sit, eating my fried chicken...:o)

Mmmm...Fried chicken.
They gave me four pieces instead of the three I payed for... I mean, I'm not complaining, but it's really not helping any attempt at healthy eating.

Oh, I saw that show too! The guy had fat oozing through his skin because his body literally couldn't contain any more of it. Wicked gross.

That's sick... I don't know how you can do that to yourself.

BMI deceives you.
most people will give you different ideals for what your BMI should be.
I'm pretty sure that I was told in germany that the ideal BMI starts at 18.5 and goes up to about 21.
a couple of weeks ago, I was told by my doctor that my ideal BMI would be somewhere between 20 and 23..
other possible minimums I've come across were 18, 19, 19.5...
not that it makes any difference to me, really, but I find it quite annoying that there is no consistency.

We have had several instances where patients were too heavy\large to fit in our MRI scanners.
The solution: send them to local zoo to be imaged in an animal MRI machine.
Needless to say, these patients are NOT happy to hear this...

Most world-class athletes are technically obese, if you go by BMI...
