I feel like a ninny. (uou, kind of like a guy who'd buy $500-1500 loafers ... :D )

Stared at that Jesus pic for a good thirty seconds before I noticed the funny part about it.

It has been driving me crazy, so I have to ask- what does SFW stand for?

Safe For the Weeones?

Safe Family Watching?

Save Farting Whales?

I admit the last one doesn't really fit the topic, but you just never know.

GonzoTheGreat
08-29-2009, 11:35 AM
Safe For Work, probably. In analogy to NSFW, which means Not Safe For Work.
Though analogies are quite often wrong, so I won't exclude your farting whales, yet.

Dragon Thief
08-29-2009, 01:56 PM
LOL @ Gonzo. And, yes, Breeeeta, it's Safe For Work - a lot of RSS feeds and blogs put NSFW on articles that you don't want to be reading when you're boss / coworker / kids / easily offended people are near to see you viewing it.

Another one I've started thinking about using here because of some long posts I tend to skim over - TLDR. (Too Long, Didn't Read). Sometimes you'll see an in-depth analysis of something, and at the end you'll see TLDR with a one sentence very brief overview of what the analysis actually said.

And then there's Slashdot's (./) infamous RTFA - Read The F%cking Article. Which leads to a lot of conversations goign like this:

Poster 1 - Post Story.
Poster 2 - Says soemthing 100% wrong about the story.
Poster 1 - RTFA Poster 2, you're wrong.
Poster 2 - I didn't RTFA, it's TLDR.

Sometimes you'll see an in-depth analysis of something, and at the end you'll see TLDR with a one sentence very brief overview of what the analysis actually said.I heartily approve the implementation of this acronym. I've been tempted to use it a few times since I came back, but I didn't see anyone else using it. ;)

Thanks :)

I figured out the gist of it (i.e nothing too offensive), but just couldn't put the words to it.

TLDR could definitely come in handy!

RTFA or RTFM or in our case, RTFP.

There's a whole lot of stuff out there. If I ever come across something I don't understand Urban Dictionary (urbandictionary.com) generally tends to have the answer although it can be nsfw and in some cases, tl;dr

And, for funny pictures, i hereby insert gamer humor that may be midly NSWF but I break all da rules anyways so here you go with no further use of commas:

Yeah, I considered that. But I couldn't see why that would make him sick. So I was thinking there was some less orthodox but more disturbing use of YMMV. But there wasn't, so that's ok.

The M4 one is AWESOME. My bf plays some hardcore mil-sim paintball and his favourite gun for a LONG time was his M4 replica. Scary stuff, but kind of funny. He's had the cops called to the house after they've seen him disappear into the forest with his gun. People thought he and his team were hunting. LOL
