For long-time fans of the series, you may have noticed that there are cities on this list which have never had a Wheel of Time book signing event before. Tor made a big effort to go to some new locations this time, and I know suggestions all of you played a big role is helping to decide where they went.

Wait, there’s more!
There will be a big announcement this weekend at DragonCon with regards to the tour and how YOU (yes, YOU) can get some really awesome opportunities. Keep checking our news page over the weekend and look for several announcements.

I only wish that the signing in the Chicago area (Oak Brook) was on some day other than a Wednesday. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive for me to Oak Brook, so there's probably no way that I can make it up there by 7 pm... :(

Book signings never come to Michigan. What is odd is the headquarters for Borders is in Ann Arbor. I just don't get it. Dayton is closest to me and that is still hours away.

think of us poor europeans ;) , we miss those signings unless we choose to fly for about 6 to 8 hours and THEN we need to drive too....

Interesting. The Portland signing is at Powells, which is cool, but it's not at downtown location, which is kind of weird.

Not that I mind--the location is way, way closer to my house.

But it's a Thursday night, and I'm lazy, so I probably won't make it. ;)

Um yeah. Sucky that they're not even stopping in Canada...

I was hoping against hope for either Burlington, VT (huge college town, artsy etc) or Montreal (I'd go this time instead of for WorldCon) but rejected yet again. Milford, NH is only 3 hours away...lol.

Odd that theLas Vegas signing is at the Library. I don't think the Library needs their copies signed, so that means standing in line at a bookstore and then standing in line again at the Library.

That particular Library branch does have one of the larger meeting rooms in the entire library district (and is co-.located with the main campus of the College Of Southern Nevada -- a much bigger meeting area than any of the bookstores can manage even if they commandeer Starbuck's dining area.

That's not entirely true. There was a week when I was in college - literally, over the course of three days - where we had Terry Pratchett, Neal Stephenson, and Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson at the downtown Borders. Sadly I hadn't read any Stephenson at that point, so I skipped that one... :(

But yeah, we never seem to get any WoT booksignings. It's criminal.

Eerily accurate information, actually.

Brandon mentionned he would really like to do Toronto and Montréal during one of the three WOT book tours (and that the Tor folks know this), but that it would probably not be on the TGS one.

Okay then - I guess I can wait. LOL

So, anyone making the trip?

Odd that theLas Vegas signing is at the Library. I don't think the Library needs their copies signed, so that means standing in line at a bookstore and then standing in line again at the Library.

I still remember my surprise years ago, finding an almost perfect signed copy of aCoS at a local suburban public library in the Los Angeles. The larger libraries can have a very large number of foot traffic, comparable to the largest commercial bookstores.

However looking at the schedule, it'll be either Vroman’s Bookstore (45 minute drive) or that signing in sunny San Diego in Mission Valley at a Bookstore, I had not heard of when I did live in La Jolla--Mysterious Galaxy. There's a Borders Store, and a Barnes & Noble, close by in the same area of San Diego's Mission Valley.

Just glancing at the rest of the book signing schedule it doesn't look like very many of the locations are very far from major airports by car. Even the Half Moon Bay, CA signing there's an airport close by in Monterey. Otherwise, there's a bunch of other States the signing tour misses in the middle of the country, not to mention recessionary Florida.

Where did/does TOR sell the most book per capita in the WoT series, I wonder?

Brandon has posted this earlier today:

@Sarah We're working an a Canadian tour with my Canadian publisher. It's a different company that distributes me there, though they work closely with Tor.

I guess a Canadian tour is still a possibility even for TGS. :)

I wonder if they're going to mix it up a bit for the other 2 books, e.g. Dallas gets The Gathering Storm, maybe Houston gets Shifting (Title) Winds and Austin/San Antonio gets AMoL (TG, whatevs).

IMO, that's the most fair, to make sure every major metro area is somewhat represented.

Also, I'm aghast that the middle Midwest is getting absolutely NO love. Don't people in St. Louis read WoT?

I noticed that as well, a lack signings in places with variably weather in November, unless its a very large population area or large regional media hub. Still it's difficult to be everywhere at the same time to promotion a product.

Maybe B.S. and Harriet will go on tour to cities in the rest of the top 100 largest metro areas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_United_States_Metropolitan_Statistical_Ar eas),and many of the major Canadian cities missed during this first go around?

No real complains about the locations in SoCal, especially as the San Diego signing is on a Sunday! :D

My problem with the tour is that we'll be in SoCal for wedding festivities during the Dallas signing, and we'll be at the wedding in Malibu during the San Diego signing and back home in Texas during the LA signing. Sucks major.

I will most likely be able to make it to the West Chester signing. I was very happy to see it's on a Friday. :D

Mysterious Galaxy is a little hole in the wall place. Although, I do remember the roof was leaking the last time I was there. Ah, fond memories...

I could go, it's not too much of a drive and I was just down in San Diego the other day for Street Scene. But I won't be going, as I am vastly disappointed from I've seen so far from tGS.

Most authors tend to support "the little guys" of bookstores when they can for stuff like this. GGK won't do signing or readings at the big bix stores at all.
