Darwin, upset by last weeks failure with the sunbathing teens, strikes again!!!

I love how the idiots who were sunbathing survived, but the poor kid who stopped to tie his shoe was killed...

How is stopping to tie your shoe on the tracks with a train barreling down on you any less dumb?

I connect with shoe tying; I don't connect with sunbathing, since I don't do it on purpose. For all we know, this poor kid could have been listening to his Ipod. And he was killed trying to be safe, if you know what I mean.

Trying to be safe? Stopping on a railroad track to tie his shoe lace?
Even if he was listening to his Ipod that does not excuse anything, since he shouldn't have had the thing so loud that he couldn't hear his environment anymore.

Was the kid blind or deaf? If so, I will feel sorry for him...

A deaf child would have probably felt the vibrations and ran.

True, but if he was deaf I might feel sorry for him anyway. There's no excuse for this kid...

If he was that deaf, then what was he doing wearing headphones (http://richmond.craigslist.org/rnr/705543273.html)?
Wearing headphones has been scientifically proven to deafen out everything else but the headphone sound though :)
Maybe he was rockin to the music and didn't feel any vibration. Another music-lover lost, shame that.

When riding on my bicycle, I usually wear headphones. But I never turn up the sound so far that I can't hear the traffic, because doing so would be stupidly dangerous. Not only because of potential long term damage to my hearing, but also because hearing a car or a train or a whatever come gives advance warning, so that you can decide earlier how to react to it.

Yeah, that's how most people behave :)

We're talking about stupid people, though...not Gonzo.

Maybe this is time for the sequel to "lying on a train track in australia with a train twice a week", cunningly entitled "lying on a tram track in Oslo with a tram every few minutes":

This one wasn't me, but my friend trying to imitate me...
We're an odd bunch.
Still in bad taste? Excellent:D

The pics aren't in bad taste. Saying the kid that got killed was dumb might be in bad taste...but I don't care. :p

no matter how you dice this, I can't imagine a more stupid group of people, and couldn't be happier they're dead. Who knows... a few generations from now they're semi-retarded drooling cretins of children and grandchildren may be trying to pollute the bloodlines of more intelligent people. Like us.

Hey, you have to tie your shoe lace, that is safe. Otherwise, you could trip and fall.

Or get caught with the shoe lace in the rail tracks. Then you're in for a pickle :)

Stopping on traintracks without looking is by definition stupid. It doesn't matter if he had an Ipod on (you shouldnt jog with them anyway for this exact reason), it was still a stupid thing to do and he paid the price...Darwin's hunger was satisfied for one day.

You're talking like Darwin is some great supernatural being capable of demanding sacrifices, Dav. I find it amusing.
I walk/jog with an iPOD, but I also look around and do it on the not busy streets of my neighborhood.

He isn't? I thought that that was the whole point of Darwinism...he must be kept happy in order to ensure a good harvest.

Ah, but they're converse, so they do everything automatically - it's known as the "lie, tie and die" system...
