In the absence of factions, I have created a user group (http://www.theoryland.com/vbulletin/group.php?groupid=1). Join up!

I am sad that no one has joined. What happened to all the people that wholeheartedly supported this?? :(

Perhaps others have had as much trouble as I did figuring out how to join a group and or are exploring the groups function.

a link or two might help:

or

I did give a link! But I just realized that I have to actually accept members, like factions. Cool!

That's because you chose a moderated group. I don't know if you can choose an unmoderated group.

It would be nice if this faction type group could be put in a factions group category. I don't know if Tam has to set up the categories or if a new category can be established by creating a group?

Yeah, I already sent a chat at him about that, but he's afk.

Well, he has created a "Factions" category and move both your faction and mine as well as a bunch of main board factions into that category.

I did point out to him that making all of those faction moderated groups means he is the one who has to approve or dissaprove requests to join until and unless the faction champions accept the transfer of management.

I made my faction a public group so that I don't have to keep checking it every time I visit -- because that was the one thing I didn't like about the main board factions system; it is impossible to evaluate a faction's membership if the Faction is moderated and applications are not kept up to date.

Terez, I am too damn lazy to look this up , so I take the easy route and ask you :).

Did Mat get the hat before or after he went into the Rhuidean doorway? And if so did he wear the hat when he went into Rhuidean?

Because if he did the finns already "met" the hat ;)

It was not long after, somewhere between Rhuidean and Imre Stand (on the way to Alcair Dal).

ok thnx, makes the idea more viable :)

good catch on the hat, not entirely convinced yet, but I have not given it special thought yet. :o

I'm not convinced either. But Mat's hat is awesome.

I'm not convinced either. But Mat's hat is awesome.This. :D I love the idea...just like I love the idea of Demandred picking up the pieces of what's left of Seandar and marching them against Tuon during the last battle.
Yet I doubt either it true. (I think the Mat's Hat probably has a better chance, actually :p )

For what it's worth, I fully endorse this idea. I believe Mat's hat has some special properties. Things that will come in handy during the trials and tribulations to come.

I believe it is a ter'angreal that allows him to keep the sun out of his eyes and stay cool (both looking and temperature-wise) in the summer.

Out of curiosity: why the hat and not the ashandarei?

Gonzo good question.

Mat got the ashandarei from the finns but he did not particularly ask for it.
Free from aes sedai --> foxhead medallion
holes in head filled --> memories
a way out --> hang from tree

where does the ashandarei fit in?

Um...too easy. The Ashandarei is not a good bloody hat...the hat is though.

Because in one of the previous threads (http://www.theoryland.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=69985&#poststop) about the books 4-6 detail, the ashandarei was mentioned. And then, at some point after that (http://www.theoryland.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=70896&#poststop), we were told that we were not on the right track. :)

Maybe somebody should make a list of the stuff that was off track and sticky it or something. I would do it, but I don't have time now... making pies!

Aside from what Marie said, the ashandarei is not really comparable to the Mistborn 'minor detail' that was given. The hat is, though.

I made just such a list toward the beginning of the Bk 4-6 Detail Brainstorm thread. :D

Luckers made an extensive one (http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,50754.0.html) at Dragonmount. They seem to have this strange dual approach to WoT discussion - it's either free range whatever, or it's structured, which means you get PUNISHED for not reading the whole thread, etc. So he was going to keep this structured one going and keep the other open too, and the other was mass craziness with Theoryland revelation in the middle of a 44-page thread (http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,50458.0.html), and not a full list of quotes in the OP. So apparently that didn't work, so he closed the structured one.

I like Dragonmount more this round than I did the last time. I think the book release has everyone (including me) in a relatively good mood.
