After several months of undercover spywork, Seattle is about to be invaded. A small force of 'taer clan members will invade at approximately 2100 on June 11, 2008. Seattle is guaranteed to never be the same.
Don't count on hearing from any of us until Sun or Mon.
All ya'll take care!!!:)

Have a good time, Sei'Taer! Dont do anything I wouldn't do! Or that Frenzy wouldn't do!
Wait... that's not a very long list, is it?

Hmmmm... How do cucumbers fit in there these days? Are they something Frenzy would or wouldn't do?

naz, I'm not even going to speculate on how cucumbers "fit" in.

Damn those biologically enhanced cucumbers!

Poor SoE. He gets no respect.
Looks like the weather is going to be good, and I just got word from Herid Fel that he might join us.
I'll try to take pictures, too...but I'm notorious for forgetting to do that.

How in the HELL did a thread about invading 'taers, Muttley's hotness, and sei'taer's hotness get turned into a cucumber thread?!?
Ok, just to fit EVERYTHING in: Gay Marriage

Terez I think Frenzy's visual of cucumber includes a female gay marrige.
Hmmm... then again it might be male too with both them...

in Portland, Herid Fel and I got married. Pops officiated. Logistically, we were able to have two best men, so ST and SoE both got the honor.
For the reception, we all took a tour of the local oil refinery, and left our cars running outside.

I took a couple, and Pops took some, so we'll get them uploaded eventually.
As for the meetup, I wish I could have stayed longer.
We met at one of the world's largest bookstores (Powell's Books in Portland), and had some pizza at a local place. Herid got there first, and I met him after spending several minutes trying to find a place to park. SoE was driving the clan down from Seattle, and I think they hit a possum on the way and had to stop and pick it up.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun, but I had to get back to work. :( I didn't buy ST the beer he says I owe him, so we'll have to get together again.
I don't want to say much more till we get some pics and the others can post, but it was great meeting the Taer clan (seriously, the clan: SoE, ST, Pops, ST's wife, and the sisters were all there!). I'm also glad Herid and I finally got together. We live about five miles apart.

We had a blast. It sucked leaving the 60 degree goodness of the northwest for the 100 degree suckiness of the south. Got off the plane and thought I was going to pass out dragging my luggage around.
As for Portland, the barnyard massacre pizza was delicious, the bookstore was awesome, Dog and Herid's ceremony made me happy, and the PBR tasted like rat butthole, but at least it was cold (we slipped over and got one after SDog went back to work)(we had to do something while we waited for the female part of the clan to finish shopping). I really enjoyed meeting both SDog and Herid, and hopefully another meet up can be planned in the future. We found a new moniker for SDog, but chances are he'll never use it...but pictures don't lie.
oh, and BTW, I'm much cuter than the ol' dog:D and Herid is tall enough to make my neck hurt talking to him.

It was great to get a call from y'all while you were out there. Too bad we were in noisy Lowe's and some species of tree is having sex somewhere so I couldn't hear half the conversation. Allergies suck.

Nice sig...check out mine.
I don't want to blow your cover, ST, but you didn't seem like a downright tactless asshole. Maybe it's because your wife was around? ;)
I feel really bad that the only beer you had in Portland was PBR. That's like going to France and eating at McDonald's. I need to investigate the rules about shipping alcohol, because you really need to try Mac's or something from Deschutes Brewery. :(
Sei'taer
06-17-2008, 11:47 AM
I had a Mac & Jacks the first day I was there. I also had a few from the Pyramid brewery, but I can't remember what it was called. SoE wanted us to have a PBR with him...but I couldn't do it, so I had a Deschutes something or other at Rocco's. So I can't say I actually drank a whole PBR...although I did taste it.
As for the DRTA thing...I had no cause at the time...you were being nice so I decided to be nice. I can do that when I need too, lol.
Oh, did y'all know that Herid and Dog aren't man enough to pump their own gas? Thats why it took so long for them to get there, they had to wait on the teenage kid to come and pump gas for them...That whole story about finding parking was BS.

I wouldn't call them full service, but in Oregon it is against the law for drivers to pump their own gas.
And usually it's really annoying, but for some reason people here just love someone else doing the pumping. Maybe it's the same people who vote down sales taxes.

ahhhh, I remember now there's a similar law in Jersey (I have some family there). Something about jobs...

Yeah, it was a blast meeting everyone. Someday we'll all have to catch up again when there's a lazy evening to drink the day away. If you guys didn't get the chance to have a Black Butte Porter while you were here, you missed out imho.
SD and I are holding out for an appropriately large sum from the tabloids before releasing pics of the lovefest.
It’s always great to 'meet' people and immediately be able to kick back, joke around and have fun. Stacy and I will definitely be looking y'all up if we head east and south of the Mason-Dixon. You're all welcome to come back up here anytime, we've got lots of extra room so no need to spend on hotels! :D

of the country under 'taer control!!!
Seriously, it was a great time. Seeing the countryside, visiting special sites, such as the Space Needle, The Sciench Fiction Hall of Fame/Music Experience, Pike Place Market. Powell's in Portland, etc. Was great meeting Herid and Sdog/Crispy Critter. Pics will be forthcoming but be patient.
Best of all was the time spent with my 'young-uns.' We drank several different kinds of beer, mixed drinks, etc. Ate three or four times more than we would around home and all in all had a great time. We were all quickly reminded of the pleasures of the cool northwest upon our arrival back in Memphis on Monday afternoon, as we were slapped in the face by high temps and high humidity. At this time of the year, the lows in the mid-south are normally higher than the highs in the Northwest. Also, wish we had their luck with the posionous critters. Seems from somewhere in mid-Oregon, north through Washington and into Canada, west of the Cascade Mountains there are no poisonous spiders or snakes. Would love that one I would.....
As for Herid and Crispy Critter??? Was nice to meet and visit with them. As they said, it is easy to talk to someone and visit when you practically know each other first hand and have a place to start like TL or WoT. Both guys were on their best behavior and presented a great front although I really doubt they are that nice all the time...LOL......
Herid is one lucky fellow though, because his fiance showed up in time to be introduced and she is certainly too pretty for him. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
Seriously, though it was all great and we did have a wonderful time.

No plans at this time. Have two things possible for next year. Possibly SoE flying into Memphis and all of us going to Natchez, Mississippi via Vicksburg, MS, or ST and I flying into Seattle and the three of us going via ferry to Alaska and Salmon fishing. The ladies are talking about a cruise together. So maybe next year a split trip. Will have to wait. Of course, it might be possible for me to slip a weekend trip in to Houston but Zaela would beat me silly if I do that instead of going to CT to see her. So!!!!???????????

Sorry for the thread necromancy - it's been a busy couple of weeks, but seeing this I just had to say that Pop's is an astute judge of comparative attractiveness. I'm a lucky guy. That's probably why I felt compelled to take her off the market as of this October ;) , otherwise she might just wise up, lol.
As to the poisonous critters Pops, I think you must have missed all of the rattlers, brown recluses and black widows we have on this side of the country. We're pretty green, but that's all we share in common with Ireland!
Come back soon! All of you have a place to stay here, no need for hotels!
