Part of the reason I backed out of JordanCon is now...something I can share. I am 12 weeks pregnant. :)

I have started another re-read in hopes of sharing my love of fantasy with the little upside down turtle inside me.

Congrats! That is awesome news.

I called my daughter #2 H. Bob. When I was pg with daughter #1, we didn't know her sex until 33 weeks. The week before, I was at my family's house for my brother's wedding, and everyone wanted to know our names. We had our girl name, but couldn't figure out a boy. I said, "If it's a boy, then we can name him Bob, and then he'll be Bob Zmarzly." My uncle cracked up, but I had to sit and explain who Bob Marley was to my mother. My aunt said she liked "Hoyt." (Ugh, and I apologize to anyone on the board who might be named Hoyt.) I was telling a friend the story on the way home, and she said that I could name him H. Bob, and the H. could stand for Hoyt but we wouldn't actually name him Hoyt. It was a lot funnier then that it sounds now, but the name stuck and we decided to use H. Bob for all our peanuts in utero. :D

It does seem to be rather infectious, doesn't it?
Perhaps a vaccination program would be advisable. Or maybe not talking about it would make the problem go away.

Only two legitimate reasons for not coming to JordanCon that are acceptable. Death and Pregnancy. Death being only partially acceptable.

Congrats Saucy!!! May you have 25 or 30 more!!! Or at least as many more as you desire. I guess saying "many more" here isn't the same as when a birthday is celebrated is it????

uh-uh. unfortunately not out in that way.

What's the whole 2-months salary thing about?
Do you guys not get things like maternity pay? I know from Zae that we have it a lot better in the UK than the US, but I have no idea how the system works in Canada.

You got it Gonzo!

Ana, we do get maternity leave - an employer will cover 32 weeks at a percentage of pay (usually about 60-85%) and the Employment Insurance will "top up" the difference for the remainder of a year. It gets more nitpicky than that if you're part-time or unemployed, but those are the rules for full-time work.

er.. last I checked, having a stone on your finger wasn't mandatory for having babies. Unless you know of some magic baby-making stone. In which case I call it one of the worst super-powers ever.

put ring on->preggers forever! wooooohooooo!

:p:D:p

In fact, I have it on good authority that rather often the expected spawnage sort of hurries the rock-giving along.

nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Question: Tell me what you think about me
I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings
Only ring your cell-y when I'm feelin lonely
When it's all over please get up and leave
Question: Tell me how you feel about this
Try to control me boy you get dismissed
Pay my own fun, oh and I pay my own bills
Always 50/50 in relationships

The shoes on my feet
I've bought it
The clothes I'm wearing
I've bought it
The rock I'm rockin'
'Cause I depend on me
If I wanted the watch you're wearin'
I'll buy it
The house I live in
I've bought it
The car I'm driving
I've bought it
I depend on me
(I depend on me)

All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me
