I'm not sure if there are any golf fans here, but Tiger is done for the season after his US Open victory...He's going back under the knife: http://www.golf.com/golf/tours_news/article/0,28136,1815681,00.html

Really. That was an amazingly exciting US Open. I couldn't help but root for the underdog- but it is always fun to watch Tiger. I wasn't able to watch the playoff 18, and then sudden death :"( (stupid work).
I hope the surgery works this time, you could definitely see he was in pain on Sunday. You would hate to see such a brilliant career end so early due to injury.

Swinging a club puts a lot of stress on your lower legs...lots of torque to make the ball go 300+ yards. Plus its about 10 miles of walking each day on the course.

Ok, given Bryan's injury, I know what torque in the wrong places can do to a bone, but this guy's young yet. What do the older guys do?

They don't hit the ball as hard as Tiger for one...Woods is renowned for his physical conditioning.

They play at a level somewhat lower than Tiger Woods. He just won the US Open on a bum knee and in considerable pain. I think that it can be safely argued that he's the best that's ever played the game.

The Open this past week may have been the most exciting thing I have ever seen. If Tiger can win like that on a bum knee... man. I'll miss not seeing him at the other majors, but he should be perfectly healthy for next year. It's got to kill him to miss so much...

If any of you are also hockey fans, this (http://tsn.ca/columnists/james_duthie/?id=240182) letter to Tiger is hilarious!

Torrie Pines is onlu 7123 yards, and that's just four miles if you walk straight from tee to green. I'd be real surprised to find that golfers walk 250% of the listed distance to play around.
I doubt that they walk much more than 125% (five miles on a four-mile course.)

From watching the Open, I heard them (announcers) say several times that if you walke the paths of the course as well as all the walking to and from the ball it would be about 7-10 miles minimum...That's what I based it off of.

7-8 I could see, but 10? That seems like a very poorly designed course layout to me. :D

Probably a broadcaster exagerating to make Tiger's feat seem even more impressive.
