Or, more accurately: what's the reason that so many people use "Canadia" when they mean "Canada"?
It's not that hard to type one letter less, is it?

That is odd Gonzo. I could understand an occaisional Canadsa the s being right between a and d, but i is five keys away. How does that typo happen?

We like messing with words like that. Try thinking of it like...Arabia, Cambodia...The Iraq and US Americans...

Are you trying to tell me canadians aren't from Canadia??

An Arabian is from Arabia so...a Canadian is obviously from Canadia, and Netherlanderers are from Netherland and thats where Hollandaise comes from. All you get with Canadia is oil though...and bears, did you know they don't even have cities up there, just vast expanses of oil and igloo(s)(es)(ses)(? anyone know the plural? Is it Igli?)

Netherlanderers are from Netherland
Actually, Netherlander, is correct, too. :)

I think I get it. So you have Alabamians, Alaskians, Arizonians, Coloradions, Iowians and Utiahns, to name a few.
Though I must admit to some puzzlement: how do you pronounce the last one?
Terez

you - TAH - ee - uhns (the state is pronounced YOU - tah, mind)
I'm a Miss'ippian. :D From Miss'ipia...

I tease because I love...Canada is a very wonderful country full of friendly people (other than the French ones ;) ). That's pretty much my reasoning.

But I still ain't figger out 'redneckians?' hmmmmmmm
I, like you, love to tease and some folks just can't take it. i.e. SBX was almost angry with me because I called him an American. Just don't understand it. Anyone from any country on either American continent...is American. Just have to add in the Canadian American, Mexican American, Brazilian American, etc. So I gave up.....
But that's allright.....I'm just a pure dee ole Redneck American from the U. S. of A. and damn proud of it!!!!!

If that is the case, then I suggest more beer. :D

Hmmmm on a side note:
To say someone is from Finlandia is to say that someone is an alcoholic as Finlandia is a Finnish vodka brand:p

So...someone from Finland is...Finnished?

And no, we are most emphatically NOT Americans. I'll live with Canadia) although I have to sound it out when typing :P). We suffer through it because we also love. ;)

Why is it Americans, and not Americians, by the way?
Gilshalos Sedai
06-23-2008, 08:13 AM
Because you'd have to pronounce that Amer-isi-ans.
GonzoTheGreat
06-23-2008, 08:20 AM
So?
I've never noticed any USIAns obeying pronounciation rules anyway, so why should that be an issue now?

Because that sounds wussy.

It's our language...we can fuck it up however we want to...the Englishans and Aussians do the same thing. Ask one of them how to pronounce aluminum.

or advertisement for that matter. My fiance lived in the UK for 6 years as a kid and she still pronounces things weird. She can also do a perfect British accent is she chooses...which can be fun.;)

Beter than the dish of carns topped with pig drippings and cheese droppings created by the devil. Oh how I wish I had never let poutine touch my tongue....

cheeze, you make it sound like a bad thing. Fries topped with cheese and gravy sounds so much better...even if it is infernally influenced.

Yeah dude, that's my problem! If I had never tasted it then I wouldn't crave the deliciousness that is poutine. I could have lived my whole life just thinking I about what it tasted like...
