So my uncle has been battling liver disease for about 10 years now. He's been on the transplant list for the past 5 or so basically. He finally got the call from the Mayo Clinic (where he's been getting treatment) last night at 1 am (literally 1 am) and was in surgery under an hour later from what I understand. The inital surgery was successful but now he's in the danger phase where he has no immune system and he's really beat up basically.

I'd appreciate any thoughts/prayers you feel comfortable giving. He's a great guy (think a slightly older version of 'Taer for personality) and he's been through hell in his life so he's due a break I hope. Sadly, the liver thing is the tip of the iceberg for his bad luck so it'd be great if this at least went well.

Thanks in advance!

Hell, if he's as awesome a guy as me then he has my best.

Update: He's walking and eating but in massive pain (though on painkillers). He'll be at Mayo for another 3-4 days before going to 3 weeks of recovery in-patient care at a nearby site...assuming there are no complications from the surgery (infection, late rejection, etc).

First let me say that I had nothing to do, I Swear, with your Uncle coming into this world. It's just luck of the draw that he is 'geared' like Seitaer.

Second you have my Bride's and my prayers for your Uncle and maybe as a source of soothed feelings check this link.

Positive thoughts being flown south as we speak. Sounds like he could use a break in general, hopefully this is a turning point for him! The fact he got the call and the operation is a good start...now hopefully it all goes perfectly (considering).

Hard for me to think of Vermont as "south". Anyway, got some muggy, hot, fried redneck prayers coming way up north.

Organ transplant is some serious business. Glad he's up and around!

My best wishes and prayers for your uncle, even if that does mean 'Taer is twinned.

It is now day four since the operation. I know that any organ transplant is tricky business. Your concerns about his immune system are very valid.

I trust that your dear uncle will do well and begin to thrive. My thoughts and prayers are for both of you.
