Damn it! Mankind seems to be getting weaker by the day. People need to be hurt once or twice in their early lives or they won't be ready for it when something bad happens and they can't run to mom and dad for help. Not saying we should start beating kids on principal or anything but this kind of over protectiveness does more damage in the long run.

And it's unfair to those who would earn a place in the all-star game. Not rewarding talent is even worse than beating someone for failing and that's saying something.

I think that when a kid has an at bat and doesn't get a hit...that also hurts his feelings. They should just allow all kids to get hits...but then that would hurt the pitcher's feelings therefore they shouldn't have a pitcher...just use a ball machine to toss pitches to the snowflakes...honestly when will it end?

I think this is a good thing. I know when I wasn't picked for my All-Star game, it started a long cycle of resentment and competition with my former friends which ended up with me cutting the heads off my sister's dolls in my basement...
