Not quite:
The justices also ruled prosecutors are barred from retrying Low for murder, extreme emotional distress manslaughter, or imperfect self-defense manslaughter. The state could retry Low for other forms of manslaughter or lesser offenses.

Don't see why this is ridiculous. A wedgie is, technically, a form of assault. I remember having a conversation here about bullying a few weeks back... well, a good way to stop a fucking bully is to put a gun in his face and pull the trigger. The rest of them will stop pretty quickly, methinks.

Good for Utah.

Don't you think the nerds should try appeasement, first?

Appeasement never works.

A form of assault that is pretty lame though.

If you get bullied at work/school, just think of how bullied you'd be in jail, I hear they do worse things than wedgies there.

I hope you never have a bad day and a rifle and clocktower nearby, for everyones' sake.

Lol I have more self-control than that. My point was that people are going to take advantage until you make them stop. I don't subscribe to the "children are precious snowflakes" weekly publication, but I think that there needs to be an sterner and more effective system to stop this stuff before it gets out of hand. I think punishment by schools or other public insitutions in cases of bullying is handed out too arbitrarily, and often either when something has gone too far, or when nothing at all has happened, and rarely at a time and a place where some sort of intervention is needed.

I think kids need to learn to fend for themselves, but I also think its important that there is someone there to step in in an effective manner, because I've seen bullying get ridiculously out of hand. All well and good to say "stand up for yourself" but when you have 4 larger kids beating the crap out of you, its tough.

My point with the gun, though, is that at least someone took justice into his own hands.

I'd drop a robber if I thought he was intent on coming into my house...though I would wait till they cross the front door and then take him out.

You know, I have three boys that are small compared to their peers and bullying is a constant worry. How odd, you know, that RS is 6'7" and has never really been messed with much and now the three youngest are the opposite. They're asian, they're small for their age (although the Czar is not as much as the Emporer and the Khan) and kids are mean. 1SG and I talk about this all the time. When we get to EP, my first task is to get them involved in some kind of martial arts - I think Ju-jitsu. My fondest wish is for the Khan (5%ile for height and weight thanks) to be the kid that no one messes with because someone did once and learned it was a bad idea.

Bully: "Give me your lunch money"
Khan: "This is not the lunch money you seek"
Bully: "This is not the lunch money I seek"
Bully 2: No, dude, you don't want that kid's lunch money.

Does that make me a bad parent? You know what, don't tell me because even if it does, I really don't care. I want my kids to be confident and able to defend themselves and their friends against injustices.

My dad gave me one simple rule for fights at school. Don't start it, but make damn sure you finish it if someone else starts it.

I got in one fight and it was a draw. But I was never bullied all through grade school or high school.

I came into HS 5'2" weighing 114 lbs. soaking wet and fully clothed. I never got bothered. I attribute it to my attitude. I didn't go around pushing people, trying to act tough. I simply walked where I was going and didn't back off of the moron doing the pushing. My friends attributed it to my Varsity Letterman's Jacket for Wrestling that I had as a measly, tiny, skinny ass Freshman. tomato tomahto. ;)

Tanaww that doesn't make you a bad parent at all. When I have children and they reach that age I intend to do the same thing. martial art of their choice and wrestling too. you'd be surprised how cooperative they can be once you've put them in the banana splits or a double chicken wing ;)

Sarge likes to use joint locks and control holds. My preference is the pressure point. That even still works on the gargantuan one ;)
