View Full Version : Lyrical connections

I'll start with a song lyric. The next poster gives me the artist and song, then comes up with another lyric that is somehow connected to mine. The proceeding posters then give artist, song, connection, and a new lyric (connected to the previous one). Bonus points if you can give a song/lyric with more than one connection. Try not to be so obscure that only one other poster knows what the hell you're talking about.
Example:
Me: "Pulled into Nazareth, I was feelin' 'bout half past dead."
Answer: "The Weight," by The Band.
New lyric: "Jesus blows up balloons all day."
(Next answer will be Elton John, "Levon" -- Levon Helm was the drummer for The Band; also Jesus C. was from Nazareth.)
So, here goes.
Lyric:
"Lemon yellow sun, arms raised in a 'V'. And the dead lay in pools of maroon below."

Pearl Jam, Jeremy.
"I rode a tank, held a general's rank, when the Blitzkrieg raged, and the bodies stank"
I know the song, but I don't know the connection to the previous song, unless it's Total F#cking Darkness?
Also: What is the rule of the connection? Gets pretty stupid if the connection would start out to be that they have the same beginning letter or something :)

The Rolling Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil", connection is...um...dead bodies. What an auspicious start!

Did you get to be a star. "

Hey, at least I tried. I don't listen to Pearl Jam at all so you were lucky I was even able to identify the lyrics. You were also lucky I didn't respond with some lyrics from a heavy metal song too.

Yeah, that's the most apperent connection, but I didn't know what level you put it on, maybe someones cousin played in the other band, what do I know? :)

Hey, I'm the one that posted the first dead bodies, so no worries. Maybe I should have tried to come up with a different connection between the songs...

Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle... connection is... dead bodies? Not the biggest Croce fan.
"Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life "

i don't know what's worse, shiny puppy: the fact that you picked a frickin' Creed song, or the fact that i recognize it. http://planetsmilies.net/vomit-smiley-32.gif
The connection between those last two songs is babies or being wistful about the future or some other warm fuzzy thing. (Does that make up for the dead bodies connection?)
i'm not feeling warm or fuzzy today, so here are my lyrics:
Life planned out before my birth, nothing could i say.
Had no chance to see myself, molded day by day.
Looking back i realize, nothing have i done.
Left to die with only friend, alone i clutch my gun.

Pink Floyd Another brick in the wall
Children, brainwashing.
"See there! A man born -- and we pronounce him fit for peace.
There's a load lifted from his shoulders with the discovery of his disease.
We'll
take the child from him
put it to the test
teach it
to be a wise man
how to fool the rest"
