Usually we do this on the non-WoT board, but most of our new members are hanging out here, so we're going to change the game a little bit. I'll make a list of questions; you copy the form and fill it out. We shall all get to know each other a little better.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland?

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since about 2001. Winter's Heart wasn't yet out in paperback.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I lurk and post at Dragonmount, 13th Depository, rafo.com, and Leigh Butler's re-read on tor.com.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

As soon as I discovered the internet, in 2004.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I have been to JordanCon and DragonCon, both this year. I am unreasonably proud of having won the individual trivia competitions at both.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

I think that TSR and LOC are pretty much tied, and TFOH is close behind them. I must admit that the end is pretty exciting, though. Hard to compare the new books with the older ones.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

My favorite has been Rand until now. I dislike the new Rand; he was much more interesting when he was crazy, and I don't trust SuperRand. Mat is of course awesome, and I even like Perrin more now. The more Egwene-hate I encounter, the more I like her. I'm a rebel like that. I also love the old Cadsuane. She's annoying now.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

None as much as WoT. I have read ASOIAF and Malazan, and they're both good, though both have frustrated me for one reason or another.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Definitely 'Meh'.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I would like to see them written. I definitely agree with Brandon that it should stop there, but I don't really relate to his suggestion that it might be harder to stop after those.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I am a music student, pretending to be a piano performance major. I only listen to Bach and Chopin.

X. When did you join Theoryland?

October 2004, though I didn't join the message board (ezboard, now Yuku) until June 2005.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

I think my favorite one by a long shot is the mystery of what the hell is going on in Rand's head at any given time. I'm also interested in theorizing about his death.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

That Moiraine and Thom will rule Cairhien. I still believe that. That Dragonmount will blow. I still hope it destroys Tar Valon; that would rock. Though Aviendha's vision of the future seems to speak against it.

Usually we do this on the non-WoT board, but most of our new members are hanging out here, so we're going to change the game a little bit. I'll make a list of questions; you copy the form and fill it out. We shall all get to know each other a little better.

1. How long have you been reading WoT? 10 years

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones? 13th, DM, Tor

3. When did you discover the online fandom? 2000

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have! Just a few lol I've written up signing reports on them which can be found on Yuku and on this board. I was also a Storm Leader at the 2009 NYC signing.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all. TDR

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
fav: Perrin, Moiraine
least fav: Valan Luca, Elaida

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More? Not more than WOT, but yes. Too many to list them all. Currently reading (or waiting for new books) by Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Joe Abercrombie, and Peter Brett.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'? Meh, knew it all along, the presentation was somewhat of a whimper, I need more details dammit!

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light? If he waits a few years so the new novels will be fresh, then yes.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.) In general, I think it is good to not take yourself too seriously :)

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland? 2002

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
Will the Shadow or the Light ever use common sense?
Will people ever finally stop believing in Tainendred?
What does Shaidar Haran do in his spare time?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
Ishydin is/was a ta'veren.
Beslan is a darkfriend.
So is Bashere.
Rand is linked to the Creator.

I can't remember the last time I filled one of these out...

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since '91 iirc.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I lurk at them all.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

1997

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

A few...but I think most know all about them. For noobs, DragonCon '05 was epic.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

I ranked them recently in my review; I love books 4-6.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favorite
Mat
Min
Lanfear
Verin

Least
Cadsuane
Berelain
Gawyn
Egwene

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Death Gate Cycle by Weis and Hickman

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Something like, "******* ridiculous"...and then, "it's over, what a relief" :)

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I would like to see the world continue to expand, and I believe with his experience, Brandon is the best person to do so.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Since starting Theoryland I've had three kids (although my wife did all of the tough work.) My eldest is now ten years old and just asked me when he could start reading the Wheel of Time.

X. When did you join Theoryland?

Hah! Um, 1998. :)

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

From those that remain?

Verin - what don't we know? I'd love to learn more.

Lanfear - why she has made it this far and what she will mean to the end, if anything?

Demandred - I'll be terribly disappointed if this isn't something fantastic.

Fain - How will he change the end of this Turning?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?[/QUOTE]

You've heard them all.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since November 1994.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Nope.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

April/May 2001

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

One with RJ in 2003. Is was awesome, I totally had a pet theory that got completed crushed by a single statement.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TDR is probably still my favorite. TSR, TFoH and LoC are up there too and ToM is growing on me.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Mat and Perrin (to a lesser extent prior to ToM) are my favorites. I think Rand was best in the first 6 books, after that I increasingly wanted to punch him in the face for not realizing what he was doing, but he did make for a very interesting character. I like the new Rand, probably for the same reason Terez doesn't, I don't trust him 100% and worry about the concequences of his TP usage and link with Moridin. Least liked, total tie between Egwene and Elayne.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

The Name of the Wind might possible be the single best book I have read (you know, right behind "There's a Wocket in My Pocket"). I look forward to the rest of the books in the Kingkiller Chronicles, and the same with the Stormlight Archive.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Figured.....lame.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Nope, I want this to end with AMoL.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

There's a Wocket in My Pocket is in fact one of the greatest books of all time. I got a brand new copy of it for my 18th birthday and have the book memorized. I read it to my kids from time to time and I can not wait to get them their own copy.

X. When did you join Theoryland?

May/June 2001

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Verin, Demandred (though its been getting dragged along way too much), Rands TP usage (permission or link).

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

I have this strong gut feeling that Rand's wounds still have a significant role to play, not really a pet theory per se, but something I have thought for a while.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since 1996 - the guy that lent me EotW was a douche, but he gets plenty of credit for that!

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

No

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Back in '99

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I've been to the last two with Brandon in NYC; I stupidly skipped the KD one, and we know what happened after that :(

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TSR; the perfect combination of world-building, character development, and self-contained plots.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Rand, Fain. Least favourite: Egwene atm.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

None as much as WoT, but aSoIaF was good until GRRM lost the plot (literally).

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Total blah.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I think they'd be fine. After all, no-one's forcing me to read them, and they'd hardly destroy the series' legacy. Seeing Moiraine and Lan reach the Two Rivers would be good.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

My handle comes from the stage name I used in a high school death metal band. We played one gig, for a free pint of beer each.

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland?

Late '99. After several years of lone fanaticism, it was a revelation :p

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

The body swap. I first proposed it 10 years ago, and am hoping to see it realized in 2012.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since just after Lord of Chaos hit paperback.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Ocassionally lurk on Dragonmount but dont like the tone and those huge sigs they use hurt my eyes. Dragonmount works better on iPhone though, Theorylands formatting gets messed up on mobile Safari.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Really not until a few months before RJ died.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

'Fraud not.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TDR and TSR because those were the ones I started with. I was so susceptible to Epic Fantasy back then and I remember how real they felt.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

I still search out Rand's chapters because it really is his story but I liked Domon and Pedron Niall for some reason too. Ive got no time for Elaida or Masema though.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I loved Roger Zelanys Amber series and Gene Wolfes Severian books.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Wait, Asmodean is dead?

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I'm not interested in any outriggers. I haven't even read NS yet. I remember getting angry when that came out. Get on with it, I thought!

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I like oil painting, writing short poems and limericks and handmaking greeting cards. My avatar is a card I made but I've made many more, including a corset card. Oh, and I'm a sucker for a bad pun!

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

I'm itching to see what the other flaw on Callandor is just because characters keep bringing it up and dropping it!

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Not really but I am always convinced that anyone who looks a bit llike Demandred IS him. Oh and I thought for a while that Callandor was a Sa'angreal for the TP but I can't back that up at all!

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Hmm... I've been reading WoT for almost 8 years now. I have fond memories of seeing CoT on my dad's bedside table, and eventually I got to reading the books. I never put them down. :D
2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
I used to be a member of wotism.net, but it shut down (which sucks!) and I lurk a bit on Dragonmount and tor.com (anything that has to do with WoT) from time to time.
3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Back in 2005 - I was browsing, and found wotism.net - joined in February 2005. Wow, I can't believe I still remember that!
4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Unfortunately, no - there's nothing close enough to me - which is why I I'm wishing for something to take place in Montreal - or at least somewhere close by (Ottawa's pretty close, too.)
5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
Hmm... difficult... I've never actually thought about it.

From favourite to least favourite (but in no way disliked):
LoC
tEotW
tGH
tSR
ToM
tFoH
tDR
tGS
KoD
aCoS
PoD
NS
CoT (just because this is near the bottom doesn't mean I disliked it - I just liked the others more)
WH

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
I've never particularly liked Elayne, and I hated Elaida; it was only recently that I really began to have a new-found appreciation for Egwene (somewhat) and Nynaeve. And as awesome as Min is, she doesn't play as big a role for me. There are really too many characters that I dislike (to some degree or another) to list.

My relative favourites are:
Mat, Perrin, Rand, Lan, Moiraine, Thom.
7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
I really enjoyed Stephen R. Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series (multiple), and Terry Brooks' Shannara series (original, and Scions of Shannara series, too).
8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
More along the 'That's nice. Next!' lines, cause it really didn't bother me that much - I think the fact that it was discussed so much online influenced my way of viewing the event, but when I finally found out, I found it was extremely anti-climactic.
9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
This one's difficult, cause I would love to see the prequels and outriggers take form, but I don't think Brandon will continue - it's already taken 20 years to get this close to finishing the series. Although, seeing as Brandon has the experience now, if the outriggers and prequels were to take form, he'd be the best to write them.
10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
It's a good thing it isn't Tuesday :D

Let's see... I'm currently enrolled in Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours History: Public History with Internship - it's my first semester in Uni. right now. I'm planning on eventually getting my PhD (I'm thinking far into the future :D) and most likely going into the Canadian Military relatively soon (probably after I get my BA, but after I go away to Germany to work for a year. Yeah, I squeezed that fact in there ;)). AND my passion is Military History of the 20th century, although I mostly concentrate on the Second World War.
I'm a devout Catholic (and proud of it!) and am one of the leaders of a Youth Group in my parish - we're extreme, awesome, and legen-wait for it, and I hope you aren't lactose-intolerant, cause the next word is gonna be DAIRY, we're legendary. True story.
I like to think I'm smart, too. More often than not I'm right, but only before I put anything into writing or into words. :D
Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland?

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
I guess I'm not hardcore enough, eh? No outstanding favourite WoT mysteries do I have.
Z. Do you have any pet theories?
Aside from Elayne giving birth on the rocks of Shayol Ghul, thus fulfilling the "and His blood shall be spilled on the rocks of Shayol Ghul"? Nope, none that I can think of.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Started reading the series right before FoH came out, I was in high school at the time and a friend recommended it. I stopped reading for a few years after I was disappointed with the ending of CoS, but picked it up again after CoT came out.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Occasionally lurk at Dragonmount and 13th Depository but not on a regular basis, I read the Leigh Butler re-read but have never posted a comment on it.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

I remember reading the FAQ in the mid-to-late 90's but never participated in the newsgroup.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Nope.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

I would rank books 1-6, TGS and ToM all about equally.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favorites: I'm interested in Taim and who he is, and like everyone else I like Mat. The gholam was pretty cool too.

Least favorites: Cadsuane, the *Gars for being boring villains, Faile up until ToM

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I love Lord of the Rings and Song of Ice and Fire, would like to read Way of King soon. Love anything by Philip K. Dick too.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Disappointment at how it was revealed and who it was. Lanfear via the wishes would've been more interesting!

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Would love to see him write the prequels and outriggers! He's done an excellent job so far.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I'm a molecular biologist.

X. When did you join Theoryland?

First started reading the theories and boards around the time CoT came out, didn't sign up for an account until later, and didn't post much for several years.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Who is Mazrim Taim?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Taim is an authentic AoL'er, not a 3rd ager.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Nope.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

The Shadow Rising.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Malazan Book of the Fallen.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

RJ is a lying bastard. Again.

Rand will retire to the Two Rivers, burnt out, the world thinking him dead, to live out his days with Min.

Or become a drooling, mindless idiot, to live out his days with Min.

You ask too many damned questions, Terez.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
95 or 96. A teacher loaned me whatever was out at the time. I took a class and then was teachers aid, so I can't remember which time he loaned them to me.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Used to @ Dragonmount. Too many idiots, too much work keeping up. TL has the best thinkers.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
When I discovered the WotFAQ (I miss it so). I think 4/5 books before it stopped updating.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Negative. Too many more important things to do.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
The Gathering Storm. Simply put, I had lost faith in the series. I didn't think it would end, and was not enjoying the books as much. I used to do a full reread before each new book. Not by the end. For CoT and KoD, I did NOT do a reread. I was done, and TGS revitalized me, therefore it is my favorite.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
I think Elayne is painful sometimes, but love them or hate them, I think I'm feeling the emotions the author wants me to feel, so I like them all.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Raymond E. Feist. The Riftwar Saga, specifically. I read all of his stuff through the end of the Serpentwar Saga. Checked Wikipedia, looks like he kept writing, I just stopped reading. I really like RA Salvatore's adventures with Drizzt. I like thrillers, too. Vince Flynn, etc.

But... WoT is the only series I own in Hardback, and the majority are first runs. So, I guess nothing I like quite as much. Maybe Harry Potter? *ducks*

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
I'm glad that's over.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
I think the outriggers/prequels can be done right if handled with care. Think the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
My life changed completely with the birth of my daughter. I read the last two Harry Potter books in one sitting, on release day(night). TGS, I read fairly quickly, after I got it from the library. ToM took me over a week. Sure, I could make more time to read, I just don't WANT to. I'd rather spend it with my family.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
I've been reading WoT since the summer of 2005, right before my 15th birthday, I got through the first three books in under a month, I couldn't put them down. Since then I've read the series twice over, excluding TofM as I just finished it.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
I sometimes browse on Dragonmount and sometimes on Brandon's website. Theoryland is the only one I actually have an account on and post on (not very often though)

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Almost immediately after I finished the third book. I was on a roadtrip while reading books 1-3 (my obsession with them really detracted from the sightseeing lol). As soon as I got back home I found encyclopaedia-wot and Dragonmount. I didn't stumble upon Theoryland for a couple of years.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Never have; Tor doesn't seem to like to send those fellas up Canada way, leastways not in the last 5 years. I'll always regret never making it to an RJ signing before he died. Kinda like I never got to see George Carlin live before he died. I plan to get to one of Brandon's signings for A Memory of Light, no matter where it is.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
1 - The Shadow Rising
2 - The Great Hunt
3 - The Gathering Storm
4 - Towers of Midnight (this is a VERY close 3 and 4)
5 - The Eye of the World
6 - The Fires of Heaven
7 - Knife of Dreams
8 - Lord of Chaos
9 - The Dragon Reborn
10 - Winter's Heart
11 - A Crown of Swords
12 - The Path of Daggers
13 - Crossroads of Twilight

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
I LOVE Rand. He is by far my favourite, although I love all the Wonderboys. Concerning the Wondergirls, I used to hate all of them, but recently as I'm growing older I have a lot more respect for Egwene and Nynaeve. Still can't stand Elayne though. I love Min and Aviendha. Among other characters I really like: Moiraine, Lan, Berelain, Siuan, Lanfear, Talmanes.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
I really love all that Brandon has written, Mistborn and Way of Kings are some of my favourite novels outside of WoT. I really dig Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, although it's no WoT. I also really love His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman nd A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. Also, Lord of the Rings, but I think that's a given for every WoTmaniac isn't it?

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
Disappointed. I thought it was too easy to attribute it to that character. Plus, there really wasn't any huge revelation, it was just like "oh yeah, btw, this character killed Asmodean. Move on you stupid readers..."

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
I don't know, to be honest. I'd rather just have WoT finished after AMoL; not to have to worry about what the next book has, although I do love the anticipation, it will be weird not to be constantly wondering about the next in the series. The prospect of an outrigger novel is enticing though, WoT has been a huge part of my life and I don't think I would be particularly opposed if Brandon/Harriet/Tor decided to expand the canon a little bit.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
Since I was 12 years old, whenever I read a book I set a cast of actors and actresses to play the major characters (and minor ones too). It's just a thing I do, and I can't get through a book unless I have a very clear picture of the actor I want as the character. Sometimes it will cause me no end of grief if I get hung up on a certain character (Gareth Byrne for instance, until I decided George Clooney with a beard would do). Also, maybe it's just easier for me to do this, or maybe it's a testament to my selfishness but I always seem to play the main character in my head. So yes, for the past 13 books Rand al'Thor has been played by me, and I doubt I would be very happy if they made a film of WoT without yours truly in the main role. As for other actors who appear in my head: Johnny Depp as Mazrim Taim, Ralph Fiennes as Demandred, Daniel Cudmore as Perrin, Nick Stahl as Mat, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Siuan Sanche and Kate Beckinsale as Berelain.

X. When did you join Theoryland?
Off the top of my head, two or three months ago.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
I loved Asmodean until they (in my opinion) copped out on who the killer was. I love the Snakes and Foxes and how they're never fully explained to the public, and I loved how Brandon gave us such an in depth exploration into their 'species' in ToM. I loved guessing Verin Sedai's motives until she was killed off last year. Currently my favourite mystery has to be what will become of Lanfear (Rand in the epilogue of ToM) and what is going on in the Black Tower (although it's pretty clear). Also, Nakomi is a big thing too.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
Off the top of my head, nope!

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
About 6 years. Discovered it while in high school, been hooked ever since.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
This is the first.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Never really gave it to much thought until recently.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
No, wish that I had, but no.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
Probably Shadow Rising or Knife of Dreams. Both are my favorite.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Mat and Rand as my favorites. Mat because he's awesome and hasn't had ANY power tripping, and Rand because it is interesting to see his personality change over the course of the series.

My least favorite: Egwene who has a Feminazi look on life where she thinks only women are competant at the important things, and Elayne who's foolish recklessness has gotten hundreds killed.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
The "Dragon's Wild" series and the "Temeraire" series rank right up there. Especially the "Temeraire" series, because it tells of the Napoleonic Wars, except dragons of various breeds and sizes are included.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
I wondered about it, but really wasn't bothered that it was Graendal.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
I would hope he would right outrigger and prequel novels, as I would like a few more backstories and I would like to know what happens after TG.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
21 years old, college student, born and raised in South East Wyoming, big Wyoming Cowboys fan, don't really care for pro-sports, enjoy watching anime, NCIS, and paranormal shows (Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth), and enjoy reading fiction/fantasy books with the occasional scf-fi thrown in there. Also a huge history nut, and more oriented towards military history than other parts.

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland?
A few days ago.

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries? How will the Last Battle be fought? Will Rand live (either comes back alive or just plain lives through) through TG? What happens to the main characters after TG? Does Mat finally give in to being a Lord?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
Olver has some unknown importance in the series. Egwene get's that stick out of her *** (long shot, I know). Tuon will disband slavery and leashing of channelers will the help/being convinced by Mat. The Two Rivers becomes it's own country.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
I first started reading WoT almost a decade ago. The first 100 pages of The Eye of the World were quite boring to me so it took me forever to finally finish the first book. After that, I pretty much burned through the available series which I think was book 9 at the time.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I've only lurked here, but I come every few years so it looks different every time it seems; I remember everything (forum backgrounds, front page, etc...) were green. I come after every new book to read others thoughts and theories.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

After I read book 9, and was waiting for book 10. It was interesting reading the theories, especially when they came true too.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Nope.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

That's a tough one, but I'd have to say books 3 through 6 were the best and I'd rank those pretty evenly.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

My favorate is probably Matt and Tuon, least favoriate would be Perrin but his story was much better in book 13 and 14.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I enjoy the series A Song of Fire and Ice by George RR Martin, but I'm getting rather disappointed at his pace, i.e. non existant. Other than ASoFaI and WOT, I don't really read fantasy books.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Eh, I thought it was pretty dumb learning it from the glossary.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I wouldn't mind a more expanded series whether it be from Brandon or anyone else. I think the WoT series is quite good, and more books/lore would be interesting.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I used to hate reading due to the subjects I had to read in highschool. When I picked up this series, of which I still disliked reading but I just had surgury so I was bed ridden for 6 months, it still took me around 2 months to read the first 100 pages since I found them boring. It picked up, I probably read all 9 books at the time in a few months, and now I love to read books.

1. Since 1996, a weird college prof. turned me on to it.

2. I lurked on Dragonmount for awhile, but you guys are much more interesting.

3. Online fandom discovery would coincide with my join date here.

4. No. Wish I could.

5. Favorite is TSR (as with many). The sequence in the columnns is by far my favorite.

6. Favorite: Moiraine, Verin, Lan

Least Favorite; (only because of the excritiatingly long story arc) Perrin and Faile. Much better in last 2 books though.

7. I love ASOIAF, but if GRRM thinks he can keep a fan base with 5-6-7 years between books, I think he needs his head examined. Codex Alera was very good, but nowhere close to WoT.

8. I actually cared about this and then the reveal was like...meh...

9. If anyone writes them, it should be Brandon. No Star Wars crap with a dozen different authors doing it. I love to stick to a series, so if he writes them, I'll get them and enjoy them. After all, I am one of two people I know who loved the Star Wars prequel movies...

10. I'm not nearly as much of an asshole as it seems reading posts, emails, texts. I sincerely believe in the necessity of tone, body language and inflection to accurately convey a thought.

Pet theories? Nothing original. I like the idea of one of the Forsaken being turned back, but...

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
started lurking here around 1999ish didnt post for a couple years however.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
yes

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
The Dragon Reborn

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Lan and Rand favs
Elayne and Egwene least favs

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
I enjoy many series, none more than WoT however.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
who cares

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
no. i dont particularly like sanderson writing wot as it is. I deliberately held off reading any of his series till after TGS to not be biased. After TGS i read his stuff and I think his own books are garbage. hell even salvatore writes better imo.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since summer 2003. Or it might have been 2004, I forget.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I used to lurk at Wotmania and I usually lurk at dragonmount around release dates.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

February 2005.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I have not.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TEOTW, TGH and LOC are my top three. Then all the rest, then COT (though I haven't actually read COT in a long time, and probably haven't read it more than twice, the same number of times I've read TOM, so I might be being a bit unfair on it)

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favourite: Perrin, Lan, late-series/post-marriage Nynaeve, Egwene before TOM/when I can forget that the series isn't about the White Tower, Moridin

Least favourite: I like Mat a lot less than everyone else seems to. I really did not like Egwene in TOM.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

ASOIAF is very good (though George Martin not finishing it pisses me off), Discworld is excellent for the most part but I think it's past its best

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I'm glad it wasn't one of the stupider answers. I don't really care that much, though, and never did once it became obvious that who killed him was ridiculously irrelevant.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I would rather he stopped at AMOL, though if anyone is going to do write the others, I would prefer it to be him.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I just like it when my post count goes up.

X. When did you join Theoryland?

14th of February 2005 for the main site, the mssage boards would be about a month after that

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

I can't think of anything at the minute that won't be a plot point in the last book, like How Will Rand Win Tarmon Gaidon? and What Will Nynaeve Tug Until Her Braid Grows Back?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Whatever Rand is going to do, he'll do it from within TAR. Lan will die and Nynaeve will pull a whatever that queen's name from way back when was (actually this is quite unlikely but I like mad theories because it's fun when they're right). There's a Creator version of the True Power (TOM suggests thius might be the Pattern itself; also this may have been ruled out by interview quotes, I haven't kept up with those in the last year or two and it occurs to me I could look this up before I post, but no.) And one I haven't really looked into but mean to when I have some time: Ishamael/Moridin had his own reintegration/memory-recall moment.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Over half my life. It was summer of 1995, I think.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I post more at Dragonmount than here.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

In 1996 I found #two.rivers on the efnet (IRC). I started out as Aviendha but they made me change it. For a while I used Sorilea or Mouse, but eventually I switched to Jalani because she was 16, and my 16th birthday was coming up.

I also joined the second most well-known email group at the time, and rose quickly through the ranks of their trivia rankings.

After I bored of those, I found myself a good WoT RP MUD, A Moment in Tyme, and started playing as the wolfsister named Lironah. After most of the WoT MUDs went kerflop, I didn't do much until I heard about the Storm Leaders. Been doing the forum thing off and on since then, but twitter more frequently.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I was a Storm Leader at the midnight release last year, and I went again this year to say hi to the Tower Guards. Never made it to one before then - RJ came within about an hour's drive of me once but I was busy that weekend.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

I think The Gathering Storm is my current favorite. I also really like The Shadow Rising.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

My favorite changes a lot. List has included Aviendha, Nynaeve, Perrin, and Faile. Faile used to be my least favorite character, but then Perrin on Tyme asked me to play her since I already had a Hunter for the Horn character. After that I softened on her.

I can't really say who's my favorite now. Probably Egwene, with Perrin a very close second.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I like The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of the Lensman, Watership Down, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Book of Mormon. Um...I guess those are all about wars. So, probably anything about war and tactics works for me, but the WoT will always be my favorite.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I already knew who killed him. It was nice to have my formal vindication though.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I want to see Tam's story and more about the War of Power. Both war stories. You know me.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Good thing it's Wednesday. Um. I like to swordfight, and have studied several martial and sword arts. I also draw, write, sing, play the mandolin, and code in CSS and PHP. Now if only I could pick one of those and stick with it, I might have an actual career going on.

I also DMed the WoT RPG.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Whichever one I haven't figured out yet. There was Verin, and Mesaana, and Taim, but I've been pretty firm on all of them for the last year or two, so I wouldn't call them mysteries anymore. I guess the only one left is how Rand's going to seal the Bore, and I'm already formulating a theory on that one.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Mazridin. You know it's true.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Since 1993. Sometime in the months before TSR came out in paperback.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Nope. I only ever hang out here or at Malazanempire, but I never post about WoT there.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
A friend told me about RAWSFRJ (the newsgroup) in 1994 or 1995, but I didn't get engaged in online fandom till 1999.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Nope. Too lazy to do it, and I hate bothering people.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TSR, followed closely by EotW and TGH.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

My favorite was Perrin, but I'm not sure if I like him better or worse than Loial or Narishma (for some reason).

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Malazan (same or slightly less than WoT); Thomas Covenant (less)...I don't remember.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I hate to say it, but...meh.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Yes, I would like to see him write the other books. :)

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I'm tired, have a stomach-ache, and feeling slightly crazy today (in the bad way). What? You asked...

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Since summer of í95, waiting in Atlanta airport, just finished the latest fiest, checkin to make sure he didnít release one without me knowing it (what did we do with out the internet?) I was 12.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Scan dragonmount, used to wait for the FAQ to get updatedÖ

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Early 2000ís with the WoT FAQ. Still an awesome resourse even if it is 3 books out of date

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
I have been to two RJ signing, both for KoD, and I have been to three sanderson signings

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
Lord of Chaos then KoD

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Favorite: Mat
Least fav: post ebu dar elayne, she was fine till then

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Nothing more then WoT, but other series that come close are mistborn and Enderís

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
So it was herÖ

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Honestly im torn by this one, mainly cause I love brandons stand alone work. Maybe take a break for a few years, let harriet have some closure, finish the encyclopedia, let Brandon get stormlight going and finish the second mistborn trilogyÖ

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
When I found out Brandon was taking over the series I kinda did a quick web stalking to see who was taking over my beloved series. Found out he gave all his groomsmen swords as a groomsman present. Later that month I proposed to my now wife, and told her of my intention to buy all my groomsmen swords. She ended up buying me a sword for the wedding, custom made to look like the one Brandon took from RJís collection. Just after my wedding, when either the prologue or chapter 1 was released of The Gathering Storm, I shit a brick. Randís new sword, justice, had the same description as my wedding sword! I cut my cake with justice! (my user pic is the sword resting on top of the ones I bought for my groomsmen)

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
Verin, best mystery with the best payoff

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
The bore is not going to be sealed, but rather the pattern stitched back together over the bore.
Callandor was a darkside saíangreal, it can magnify TP usage as well as OP thatís why the buffer had to be taken off.
I like that aviís quadruplets wont be hers, but rather elayne and mins. The baby snatch theory I guess. I picture it as so: elaynei s dying, and thinking that this cant possibly happen to her, she would be safe because her babies would be born safe! Blood pools around her, breath burns like fire each time to breaths, avi comes over, says she is sorry, but she does not have the necisary skill with healing to save her, but perhapsÖ and blamo she uses the a modified version of the sister weave to fetus snatch!

Usually we do this on the non-WoT board, but most of our new members are hanging out here, so we're going to change the game a little bit. I'll make a list of questions; you copy the form and fill it out. We shall all get to know each other a little better.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since 1995

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Used to hang around Wotmania and post every so often. Have made a few posts at RAFO and 13th depository (which is a great site - kudos to Linda).

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Early '00s but mostly to read rather than post for a long while.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Met RJ once when he came to the UK to Forbidden Planet in London. I got Crown of Swords signed. I was second in the queue. The middle-aged lady ahead of me took a book to be signed for her son. When I asked RJ to dedicate my book to Sam (which is short for Samantha) he asked if it was for my boyfriend and looked a bit bemused at crazy English people. I had to explain that it was for me and we laughed a bit and I completely failed to ask any relevant questions.

He is actually the most famous person to have got confused gender expectations from my name. It happens a lot at work, and now I come to think of it that makes it pretty cool.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TSR no doubt. I am geeky enough to have devised a complex scoring system recently to try and untangle my feelings about ToM. At the moment, I rate them like this:

TSR, FOH & KOD, TDR & COS, LOC & TGS & EOTW, WH & NS, POD & TGS, COT, TOM.

(The scoring system is based on all kinds of factors - and all the Moments of Awesome in TOM couldn't outweigh the problems with writing, themes, timelines and and characterisation to me - sad or what?)

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favourite are Mat, Nynaeve and Rand. Least favourite is Elaida and the way BS writes Mat

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Lots that are up there with WoT for me. I love Gene Wolfe, Robert Holdstock, Neal Stephenson and (as of this year) Daniel Abraham.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Meh. I wish it had been one of the more exciting theories.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

No. He should stop.

(I realise my comments sound pretty negative about BS and I don't actually feel that way at all. He is doing the best that could be done and I am cheering him along for that. He should do his own stuff and develop his own depth instead)

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I used to be a medieval legal historian. Random enough?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

In brief:
Egwene will somehow convince Tuon to do things the right way and free the damane.

And the Aiel men will meet their toh by singing to save Randland from starvation. Rand will have to let the Maidens die defending them from trolloc attack.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
I picked up TEotW the spring of 2005. Tore through the series in time to pick up KoD at release.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Dragonmount some. Screen name Naffy.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
About 2 months after I picked up TEotW. Found Tar Valon.net. Didn't like it much, too "roleplayey". Gave up online sites until I finished TGS.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Nope.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
In order of fave and grouped:
ACoS
TFoH
LoC

WH
TSR
ToM
TGH
TDR
TEotW
TGS

KoD
CoT

TPoD - Barely bearable

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Favorite: Mat and Nynaeve
Least Favorite: Egwene. Perrin used to be here but just finished ToM and can't find the hate anymore.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
I enjoyed Tairy's series. Should I be embarrased? Enjoyed Mistborn. None can touch WoT. Going to read TWoK now.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
Yawn. I've known for a long time due to leaked data.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Keep the WoT content coming. I don't want to lose my literary buddies.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
I wake up in the morning and piss excellence. People know me. I'm kind of a big deal.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
I am intrigued by the connection between Rand and Moridin and the resulting sickness/visions.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
None more than half baked. I still buy into the body swap theory, hence why Min said Aviendah's kids will be "strange".

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Not very long, since August 2009, so I read from August through January 2010 to get from start to finish of the series.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Here and Dragonmount.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
In December right before reading the Gathering Storm I discovered Dragonmount, and I came to theoryland from Brandon's Great Hunt.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
Shadow Rising
6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Favorites:
Rand
Perrin/Faile (except Lord of Chaos/Crown of Sword Faile)
Mat
Elayne (pre knife of dreams)
Logain
Min
Rhurac
Dislike:
Tuon
Egwene
Post Knife of Dreams Elayne
Borderland Monarch's
Taim
Bryar
Bornhold (both)
Valda

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I like Terry Brook's Genesis of Shannara and Heritage of Shannara series, and
8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Didn't really care, but I had expected Lanfear or Moridin.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I'd like to see both. The prequals are fairly easy as we know what will happen, so Brandon won't have to make up as much, and will have a good guideline for what he does. Outriggers sound interesting, and I want them, but I think they're less likely and will be slightly harder.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
Where is Demordread? How did Ishameal not get fully sealed? What's in Verrin's letters to Alanna and Galad??? Taim is either a New Forsaken or an AoL forsaken in a Stasis box.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Mat will end up bonded to either Teslyn, Tuon, Moraine, Joline, or his sister, Bode.

A non channeler (Mat, Perrin, Galad, Gawyn, Lan, Brigette or Faile) kill's Shadar Haran.

Mat and Perrin will kill a Forsaken. Perrin in the dream world, Mat will probably get his because he won't be the main focus of the Forsaken, they'll casually attack him while focused on someone else, and Mat will take them down.

Mat/Perrin will somehow be important in sealing the bore/killing the dark one/whatever Rand's doing.

Demadred has done something with the Isle of Madmen and now has plenty of Dreadlords to bring to battle.

Also, the random fact about me: When I was born, (1992) the Wheel of time series already had multiple books out.

Just FYI, RJ left a lot of notes for both the prequels and outriggers, so Brandon wouldn't be winging it entirely.

Also, if a non-channeler is to kill Shaidar Haran, it should be Fain. All he has to do is touch him.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Since late 2002.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Occasionally I'll read comments in Tor threads and Dragonmount, though I rarely post on either.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Shortly after I started reading the series.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Nope.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
The Shadow Rising
4-6-5-[2/13/11]-[3/12/7]-9-8-10. I leave EotW off because though I thoroughly enjoyed it when I started reading the series, it's near impossible for me to re-read at length any more.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Mat is probably my favorite. I think I like Elayne/Faile/Berelain more than most, and would really like to say the same about Egwene, but ToM makes that last quite difficult.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Codex Alera, Song of Ice and Fire, Symphony of Ages, Dune franchise (especially the original 6), Malazan Book of the Fallen, various Forgotten Realms series/novels, Sanderson's non-WoT stuff. That's off the top of my head - I read a lot, especially Fantasy, Sci-Fi, History, and historical fiction.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
That's nice. Next. I've never really cared about it, though if I was probably in the Graendal camp more than any other character.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Undecided. I'd like to see the prequels and outriggers, but I also want conclusion to WoT. It would probably hinge on whether Jordan left any notes/outline for the prequels/outriggers. Even if we didn't get those books, though, I'd like a short blurb/summary of what Jordan had in mind, if he left it behind.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
I'm a Classics major with 4 years of high school Latin and a complete progression at my college. A lot of the history I read relates to ancient Rome, Hellenic Greece, or Macedon under Phillip and Alexander.

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
I suppose Thom's knives in EotW, Kari al'Thor, the exact circumstances of Tam in the Companions, and Nakomi. Maybe some others that I can't think of right now.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
Well, after reading ToM I'm completely convinced that Men Dream Here fulfills Min's viewing re: Perrin and Rand, though people disagreed with me when I brought it up a few weeks ago.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Since 2001 or so.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Yes, I actually spend a lot of time on Dragonmount posting there and getting on people nerves (sometimes :))

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Sometime around 2005-2006 but I never posted until 2009

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
No, but I almost went to the last ToM signing. I didn't because I still didn't finish audiobook so I didn't want any spoilers.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
tSR
DR
EotW

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
MAT, MAT, MAT!!!

Egwene - hate her more with every book!

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Enjoy as much - No. Enjoy more - HELL NO!!!(what's wrong with you people?!)

I like Shannara, Ender's Universe, Dark Elf Trilogy (others are ok)

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

That's nice. Next!

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

YES!!!
About MAT and Olver!!! Maybe Tolmenes

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Considering that today is Wednesday I'm ok, though I'll still try to keep it short.
I've actually started reading the serise in Russian...starting with The Shadow Rising! That's all I wanted to say. Thanks for listening :D

Oh, and I consider myself somewhat of a MAT expert (I literary listen and read his parts at least 15-20 times. Maybe more. I know, a little bit to much (now you sound like my wife!), but oh well...

How the hell did LTT created DM? I mean did he have the Ring of Tamyrlin with him or something? I just don't get it. And where the hell is the ring?

Also, was it the creator or the DO at the end of tEofW?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Let's see, Alanna is black (though it might not be qualified as my pet theory)

DO and the Creator is on and the same.

HoV was created during the creation itself.

Moridin is wrong and it only take light to win once to sustain existence (there is too much to it to explain it here).

Here, roll. Heeeeeeere, roll.

(Yes, I did that because you were looking at me.)

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Probably early 1993 - I know I read the first four books all at once, and I remember seeing the fifth one come out at the bookstore, which was in October of '93.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
I've been at wotmania/RAFO (http://www.readandfindout.com) as long as I've been here, though I stopped discussing WoT stuff there years ago.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
When I went off to college in '99.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Still haven't managed that trick. Did get to see Pratchett once, though.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
For some reason, I've always had a soft spot for The Dragon Reborn, though The Fires of Heaven would probably run a close second. I think I tend to rank the books based on how epic I find the endings, now that I think about it.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Always been a fan of Mat and Loial, and Taim intrigues me. Tuon doesn't interest me all that much, and while I don't mind the character of Elayne, I find her storylines dreadfully dull.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Hoo boy, let's see. Love the Discworld series, Tales of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, Otherland, Mistborn and most of Sanderson's other books, Miťville's Bas-Lag books, of course the Lord of the Rings and other Middle-Earth books, Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, most anything by Neil Gaiman... I could go on.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
See icon.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
I think this series has run its course. And, having seen his ten-year schedule, I'm not sure where he'd fit 'em in anyways...

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
I like strudel.

X. When did you join Theoryland?
September of '99. And before he says it - about five hours after Gonzo.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
Other than "how will Rand die and live again," I don't think there's any other major mysteries in which I tend to embroil myself. I tend to go for the more esoteric topics, like the Nature of the Pattern, and the Nature of the Stedding, and Cool Things To Do With The One Power.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
I still have a suspicion that Agelmar Jagad is a Darkfriend. Oh yeah, and Moridin = Beidomon.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since the summer of 1994.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I mainly post on Theoryland because I truly believe it's the best but I do lurk and occasionally post on Dragonmount.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

I think roughly 10 years ago or so but I have only become active recently now that we are hitting the end of the series.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No, unfortunately.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

1. TSR . . . 2. TFoH . . . 3. TGH . . . 4. TDR . . . 5. TEotW . . . 6. LoC . . . 7. ToM . . . 8. ACoS . . . 9. KoD . . . 10. CoT . . . 11. TGS . . . 12. PoD . . . 13. WH

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favorite:

1. Lanfear . . . 2. Lanfear . . . 3. Lanfear . . . 4. Pre-LoC Rand . . . 5. Aludra . . . 6. Moiraine . . . 7. Moghedien . . . 8. Mat . . . 9. Berelain/Faile . . . 10. Alviarin . . . 11. Tsutama Rath . . . 12. Perrin . . . 13. Elaida/Graendal . . . 14. Morgase . . . 15. Alanna . . . 16. Tarna . . . 17. Semirhage . . . 18. Rodel Ituralde . . . 19. Nynaeve . . . 20. Siuan Sanche . . . 21. Samitsu/Corele/Sashalle/Merise/Kiruna/Myrelle/Adelorna/Saerin/Sarene/Joline . . . 22. Asmodean . . . 23. Tuon . . . 24. Mesaana . . . 25. Liandrin . . . 26. Valan Luca/Chel Vanin/Sebban Balwer . . . 27 Suroth. . . . 28. Gaul . . . 29. Mazrim Taim . . . 30. Flinn/Narishma

Well . . . I really overdid it. If there are slashes, I couldn't decide who I liked more.

Least Favorite:

1. Elayne . . . 2. Elayne . . . 3. Elayne . . . 4. Egwene/Post-LoC and Pre-ToM Rand . . . 5. Fain/Moridin (in all of their incarnations)

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

There are a lot of individual books I love, some a lot more than any of the WoT books, but in terms of a fantasy/science fiction series? It's the best I have ever read.

That being said, I'm starting to pick up some critically acclaimed series I have never touched before to see how they compare. ASoIaF is great so far but I just don't love enough of the characters to put it in near WoT. Tried Malazan and kind of gave up even though I almost finished the first book; will probably come back to it. I just feel that the writer leaves too much un-described, which is odd in a fantasy series. Will soon delve into Brandon's new series and the Prince of Nothing also. More than willing to take suggestions.

In terms of non-science fiction/fantasy reading, I really like Haruki Murakami, James Joyce, Natsuo Kirino, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jane Austen, John Updike, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Cormac McCarthy, Jonathan Franzen, Thomas Pynchon, and Salman Rushdie. There are much more but that's enough to be going on with.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

As expected and disappointed; would have been rad if I didn't know the answer 10 years ago.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

The more WoT, the better. I'm actually personally angry that Brandon's trilogy is going to add up to something like 1,000,000 words instead of 1,300,000 words. Each of his books should have been as long as TSR; there is more than enough material.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I live a double life as a law student. I was born in Mexico City but am 100% ethnically German since both my parents were second generation immigrants from Germany and their parents were all from Germany. Even so, I speak perfect Spanish. I'm now a U.S. citizen and have lived most of my life in Los Angeles (so basically, I'm really used to earthquakes; I won't leave my bed for anything less than a 5.5).

X. When did you join Theoryland?

I started lurking around the time TGS came out, although, I might have run across it way back.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Any involving Lanfear.

Also, this is so general but all the minor ones. Basically, not those involving Rand per say (unless they also involve Lanfear) or Perrin, Mat, Egwene, Nyaneve or what have you. More like, what does Min's vision of Carlinya mean? (Although, that one ended up sucking.)

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

That Lanfear would end up as the ying to Rand's yang in order to seal up the Bore. I doubt this will happen now but I was all into it in the 1990s.

I'm also pretty certain that Rand will die but Nynaeve will bring him back using the Moghedien trick.

I mostly lurk at Theoryland but do check Dragonmount and The 13th depository once in a while

Donít remember the exact year, but I lurked on WOTmania for a long time - can you tell I'm mainly a lurker?

Wish I could have, but thereís never been one near me

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
TSR still is the best one in my opinion

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Favorites: Nynaeve, Mat (now but not in the beginning), Tam, Leane, Verin, Talmanes
Least Favorite: Elayne, Gawyn, Morgase, Faile (until ToM), Cadsuane, Tuon

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Not as much as WoT.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
I lost interest a long time ago.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Not sure. I hate to think of it ending and not knowing what happens to the main characters but then again, maybe itís better off if we leave it as it is.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Um, 16 years, so since 1994. (ETA: Fixed, yo uhappy? :p)

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Not at all. I found TL, and have been hanging out ever since!

3. When did you discover the online fandom?I would say...1999 or 2000?
Again, found WoT FAQ and found it so damn frustrating that I googled WoT Theories and here I am!

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon?
So, this one time, I called BS a dork in front of Harriet (I dind't see her!), and then Taer and Aly got BS to write in my book "from one dork to another". So, basically, I have a well developed case of foot in mouth disease.

5. What is your favorite WoT book?
4-6! Classic, rollicking, tear-jerking, gasping, laughing out loud awesome.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Fave: Aviendha, Verin, and Gareth

Least fave: Berelain. Chit. And you can't call me a prude. See the sig. ;)

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
GGK, no doubt. But it's a different kind of love. His characters pay a price and die. A lot.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
Well, first I realized that I probably owe JWB a kick in the pants and a beer, in that order. Then, I went back to not getting it. And then back to m'eh.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Prequels and then Outriggers, all the way baby, but only if Harriet approves.

10. Tell us something about yourself.
Um, recently engaged, brand spanking new home owner, and long-distance commuter. Also, Canadian.

X. When did you join Theoryland?I guess that would be about 1999/2000. I honestly wish I could remember. After the "old guard" and before Zae and Dav and JWB, and WSB.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
Lanfear. Why? How? On purpose? So many questions!!

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
I adopted SDog's Lanfear Enhancement and agree that it is superior to the truth. I still fell like *something* happened there...I just don't know what!

I became aware of the existence of an online fandom around 1998 or so, but I never participated in anything until about 2006.
4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
No
5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
The Great Hunt
6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Favorite: Nynaeve
Least Favorite: Cadsuane
7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Yes. No. No.

I wouldn't mind some prequels and outriggers, but I'm not going to wait for them. I'll read them once they're all published.
10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
I have a wife and two small children: 2 years old and 9 months old. All 3 make me tired, but happy.

1. I only just “discovered” WoT a few weeks before ToM came out. I had known about it for years but always thought of it as just another series. I was very pleasantly surprised.
2. Don’t go to any other forums. I felt them all out a bit before I started posting here and found this to be the best.
3. I didn’t look for the online fandom until I finished ToM. I kind of marathon read the series and specifically didn’t want to stumble onto any spoilers.
4. Never been to a WoT signing.
5. I read them so quickly, literally one after another, that sometimes I have a hard time differentiating them, although participating on here has helped a lot. I guess I would have to say either TSR or TFoH are what got me really “hooked.”
6. I really love all of the main characters, even Egewene. I guess sometimes I got bored with Elayne’s parts. Out of the secondary characters, I guess I hate Tuon the most, because of everything she stands for. There were times when I was annoyed terribly by Faile as well.
7. There are tons of books and series I enjoy; reading is my main activity. I guess favorite authors are Tom Robbins, Hunter S. Thompson, and Herman Hesse, as I have enjoyed basically everything they’ve written. In terms of fantasy, of course Tolkien was a favorite early and often, and I was enamored with Feist for a few years. I still read his books even the series has gotten bad. For SF, The Dune series (even the outriggers) has always been a favorite of mine, along with The Sprawl Trilogy by William Gibson. I don’t think I really like a series more than WoT, except maybe the first 4 Dune novels. I probably enjoy some individual novels more though, such as At Swim Two-Birds by Flann O’Brien.
8. I pretty much didn’t care who killed Asmodean, but then again I didn’t have to wait several years to find out.
9. I definitely want Brandon to continue with the prequels and outriggers.
10. I love comedy. I was in an improv troupe for a few years that eventually evolved into performing written sketches. I also write stand-up sporadically perform open mics or open up for improv troupes I still keep in contact with. I also play guitar, bass, ukulele, a little banjo, and keyboard instruments, although I haven't been in a band in a few years. I'm currently in the market for a psaltery.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

I was introduced to the series by a friend in the late 90s, but didn't actually pick up and read the books with TEotW until something like 1999.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I was semi-active posting on the rasfwrj newsgroup and I'm credited in the FAQ for something that I've since forgotten, but haven't read any WoT-specific forums until leading up to the ToM release. I participate in the WoT thread on SA.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Almost immediately, with rasfwrj.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Nope.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TSR, then probably TGS as a close second. As far as a full ranking it's probably fairly standard.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

That's not really a fair question. I think as far as being characters 99.9% of them are really good. It's really just twisted that the majority of you seem to conflate "good characters" with "people I would have a beer with".

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Star Wars, spottily, then I pretty much ditched following the franchise with the EU post-NJO.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

This got built up as such a huge mystery when it never really deserved that. Ok fine, Rand's mentor character is gone, here's how he's going to deal. Who actually killed Asmodean was always a question in the back of my mind but never a big thing.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I'd like to see the prequels and outriggers, preferably with Brandon, and so long as KJA isn't involved. I'd actually say give Matt Stover a shot at the Tam one.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I work nights and I maintain a reef aquarium as a hobby.

What's remaining? Whatever's going on in the Blight. What the Eye of the World was actually meant for.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

For me, I think everything is up in the air now, I don't have any particular leaning as to how things will land in the last book.

1. 14 years

2. I have been a lurk at a few other forums such as Dragonmount and the Thirteenth Depository.

3. Don't really recall..probably around 6 or 7 years ago.

4. I have. I went to a Robert Jordan signing in NYC for Crossroads of Twilight. It was pretty incredible.

5. This is so tough for me...I really view them all as one continuous arc. I never had a problem with books 8-10 like some other do. I love all the minutiae and all the political machinations. If pressed I would say that the Shadow Rising is my favorite book. I just remember being blown away during the fight between Nynaeve and Moghedien. Don't have a least favorite.

6. Favorite characters: Mat, Egwene, Nynaeve, Moiraine, Rhuarc

Least favorite: earlier on it was was Faile and Elaida. Now its pretty much any Seanchan. I find them to be fascinating, but I'm frustrated by Tuon's and many of the other's clinging to their prejudices in the face of so many new ideas.

7. Oh man...many series that I love!! Very few on the same level of this one, however. The only one that comes close is A Song of Ice and Fire. I also love Dune, Ender's Game, Malazan Book of the Fallen, I did enjoy the Way of Kings quite a bit, The Thousandfold Though, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss, Empire in Black and Gold, the 100,000 Kingdoms, etc...

8. I wasn't surprised at all. I was surprised at its inclusion in the glossary however.

9. I would love for Brandon to do whatever makes him happy. I will always read anything he writes, as I think he is fantastic, although I do wish we could have heard Jordan's voice all the way to the end. No criticism to Brandon there; I think he is doing a fantastic job!

10. So I am the oboe professor at the University of Iowa. It's a wonderful job which I love immensely even with (or maybe because of) its many challenges. My predecessor committed suicide, so I came in to the job with strange circumstances that created a complex dynamic. I'm happy with how it's been going thus far (this is my second year). The Wheel of Time has been one of the most wonderful and influential forces in my life. I have read it many times and have a deep love for it. I'm also a gay man and am looking forward to the day that anyone can get married to anyone that they love.

I've read many many posts on this site and I have to say that I really enjoy what pretty much everyone has to say. even if I disagree with many of the viewpoints (I happen to think Egwene is fantastic, although I feel like her bull-headedness was a touch over the top in this last book). I really appreciate that everyone has a passion for the books in the same way I do. I don't mind the opposing views; they are a testament to the power of this unbelievable series!

Hey fellow Chicagolander ... I should clarify that I don't work 3rd shift, I work 2nd, although nowadays it does feel like a night shift.

I like where I'm at, decent pay, good benefits, in-stone annual raises, so I'm sticking with it and trying to switch to a daytime position ASAP.

My shift isn't a technical 3rd shift either. I work 6 pm to 6 am Thursday through Sunday. That is my shift form March/April through November. It sucks because I am on the opposite schedule of everyone in my life and I'm by myself the whole time so I feel like I'm going insane. I'll probably seek a position with lower pay to get onto a normal schedule once the job market is better.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since 1994. I read first five books then had to wait three months for LOC. Pure torture. Little did I know, that was right about the time that the real waiting games began.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Eh, I lurk a bit on dragonmount, and have posted there occasionally, but not often.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

I originally found the FAQ and the old #tworivers IRC room back sometime around 1999 or 2000, don't remember precisely. I just remember that I loved to use the name "Mazrim_Taim," but eventually, some jackhole banned me from the server because his girlfriend had recently broken up with someone who had also used "Mazrim Taim", and she found the name disturbing. Lame.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No :(

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

Typically, LoC is hands-down my favorite, but every now and then on a re-read, TSR is.

1. LoC/TSR
2. FoH
3. TDR
4. WH (Yeah, I'm one of the weirdos that really likes this book)
5. ACoS (See above)
6. TGS
7. ToM
8. TGH
9. KoD
10. tEotW
11. PoD
12. CoT
13. NS

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favs (a lot) - I have always liked Rand, even through his rough times. Mat's hard not to like. I like Perrin and Nynaeve, Moraine, Lan, and Aviendha as well, and most of the time, Min. Siuan comes next.

Least Favs - Gawyn and Egwene. They're a frakkin match made in heaven.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, by Tad Williams, is hands-down my favorite series. The Vlad Taltos series is very high up on the list as well.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Meh.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I don't think I would want him to, just because I think it's time for him to focus on his own things again. I don't need those stories (though I wouldn't mind reading them), and would like to see Brandon develop and flesh out his own worlds now. Maybe Harriet should pick some new authors to write more WoT books if needed?

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I'm a musician first and foremost. I play piano in a jazz combo locally, write my own music, and also play drums for a couple bands, and give piano lessons to supplement. My wife is on the fast track to become the CEO of a major company here in town. We spend our free time visiting her father and sailing at a small lake, or visiting my parents in the mountains.

I am also a web designer on the side - I have made several local bands' web sites, and have also been working on a social networking site that I hope will make me ridiculous amounts of money someday.

Finally, I'm a bit of an amateur writer. I have 360 notebook pages (and counting) of a story I've been working on for about 9 months now. I do not presume to be an author, but will definitely try to get the book published when I'm done.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

I read an interview with RJ when I was first waiting for LoC to come out. He mentioned the whole, "I've had the final scene written since the beginning thing." That's it. I want to know how it ends. No offense to BS, but I really hope the ending we read is pure RJ.

Two other mysteries that I'm very interested: Logain's Glory, and "The One Who Folows After."

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

The only real theory I have is completely meta - I have not even a shadow of doubt in my mind that the whole Seanchan slavery issue is going to be taken care of. I know, not really a real theory, but hey, it's a prediction about the future of the series, I guess it counts.

One I didn't write, but absolutely love (but seems much less likely to happen now, as of ToM) is Moraine's purpose in the pattern being to balefire the crap out of Rand to keep him from being turned to the Shadow.

Edit: This is kinda in relation to a question, but not really. I totally sent RJ a letter (c/o Tor) after I finished the Fires of Heaven (the backs of the books used to even suggest that, don't know if they still do), telling him what I thought about him, and asking several questions. Here is the letter and his real responses (you'll see from the second question/answer that this was apparently before he went crazy with the whole RAFO thing).

Dear Mr. Jordan,
I am a huge fan of the series. I have read the first five books in the last several months, after being introduced to them by my brother, and I just wanted to tell you how awesome you are. I am so sad that Moraine has died (please don't let her be dead!). I have three questions for you:

1 - Are we going to ever see any of the other thirteen Forsaken?

2 - Will we get to see Mat and/or Perrin be supremely awesome soon?

3 - Can I please have your autograph?

Sincerely,
XXXXX

Here is his verbatim response (I have always, and will always, assumed that he actually typed this out himself):

Dear XXXXX,
Thank you for your letter. I am humbled that you have enjoyed these books so far, and hope you will enjoy Lord of Chaos, coming out in one month (as of the writing of this letter). I'm sure I miss Moraine just as much as you do, but have faith that she has served the Pattern well. In answer to your questions:

1 - Yes.

2 - Perrin and Mat will both be "supremely awesome" in the upcoming book.

3 - Yes.

Yours,
Robert Jordan
(signature)

So yeah, I have always thought that was really cool, and have kept the letter all these years. I like to think that the reason he put some reassurances about Moraine into book 7 (since 6 was already written at this time) was solely for the purpose of easing my mind. :)

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

I have been reading WoT for about 10 years now - I first picked up the books when I was 11 years old and my grandfather passed TEotW and TGH onto me. My addiction by age 12 was such that my mother actually confiscated my collection and hid it from me, so, when I found where she had hidden them at age 17 (during a move), I had already purchased extra copies of many of the books...

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I lurk, but not much else, at TV and DM. I'm also quite active in the deviantART WoT community.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

I found DM first, in about 2007, when I got to the barely-censored wonderland of university internet. TV I joined a few months back. dA I joined about 2 or so years back.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I'm an Aussie... we don't get many opportunities.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

Golly. I'd rather go by how battered my copies are relative to their issuing dates.
ToM is getting pretty battered, as is TGS, but TSR and FoH have lost their covers. TDR is about to. I used to love WH, but I think that was because it was "new", although CoT didn't get that honeymoon period. I still get the same nostalgic joy from TEotW that I used to. NS is very, very useful for WT fanart... I have made images of the Acc-AS testing room and the AS dining hall from its descriptions. TGH, ACoS, and TPoD are all... their own class, not brilliant, not bad. TPoD I like for the battles and the Weiramon tidbit (I always think it is in that book; is that correct?)

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

I love Ishydin, Moi, Min, Nyn, Avi, and Amys, but my favourite would have to be Verin. She was awesome from the very beginning, and ToM/TGS just added to her awesome.
Least favourite? Errr. I wish we knew more about Taim.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

None I like better, but Robin Hobb and Pratchett generally come close.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I got to say I Told You So! HA. But I would love to learn specifics - was the killer the "maid" in the hallway?

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Depends on the level of notes left. Ultimately, FANGURL WANT MOAR, but if it's crap...
It's interesting, but if you read some of BS's other works, he writes a lot like RJ did in the Fallon books, but with a bloody lot less sex!

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I have a weakness for Murray Gold. ;)

1. How long have you been reading WoT? Fifteen years or so.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones? Not much. RAFO's thread-based format is irritating; Dragonmount has too many people who can't spell. I argue about WOT at Westeros, though.

3. When did you discover the online fandom? A long time ago. Didn't participate until recently, though.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? No.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all. The Shadow Rising. Full ranking here. (http://www.theoryland.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=128069&postcount=4)

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Nynaeve, Mat, Elayne, and Tuon. I liked Asmodean while he was still around. Moghedien when she pops up. Alviarin deserves more scenes. Least favorite? Egwene do Avriny al'Vere and Gawyn Trakand. Perrin and Rand were up there until recently.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More? Yes.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? OK. Makes no sense, but I didn't really care that much.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light? I'll hold off on that until I see AMOL. His quality of writing has improved somewhat between TGS and TOM, but his characterization is still weak. For the Seanchan outrigger, his Tuon is abominable and I still have residual doubts about his ability to do Mat if most of his scenes in TOM were RJ's.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. I have a cough at the moment.

1.How long have you been reading WoT? - since 2002.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Yes, I joined Dragonmount a few months ago and lurk occasionaly on RAFO.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
A few months after a finish my first read of the series. The main board I posted on during that time (2003-2005 mostly) was the WoT Book Forum at the Infogrames (later Atari message boards) as Demandred Z (later just Demandred).

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon?
No.

5. What is your favorite WoT book?
1. TSR
2. TDR
3. TFOH
4. TGS
5. TGH
6. LOC
7. TOM
8. ACOS
9. EOTW
10. PoD
11. KoD
12. WH
13. CoT

[B]6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? - Of the main six, Elayne and Mat. Among the others - Verin, Siuan, Rhuarc, Talmanes, Ituralde.

Least favorite? Egwene, Sevanna, Gawyn, Perrin of books 7-12, all Sea Folk characters except those in Book 4.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More? - Let's put it that way - there are a lot which I think are better objectively, but none which I have spent nearly as much time reading or discussing as I have done with WoT.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean?
"Finally!". And a bit of surprise the theory I supported was the right one. A lot of relief it wasn't Slayer, I really dislike this theory.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
I am not sure really. Depends on how the things are resolved in AMOL. Right now I am leaning towards yes.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. - I've spent way too much time on this board and reading the WoT books lately. ;)

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
Once upon a time, I really loved disproving the Taimandred theory. Demandred's identity has always intrigued me. Verin's plans, of course.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
Weiramondred from way back. ;) Now it's "Demandred is gathering a huge army in Shara".

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

It was the summer before CoT came out. 2002ish?

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I occasionally read the DM forums and used to post here and there on wotmania back in the day.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Pretty much right after I finished Crossroads I found Leigh's old FAQ and wotmania. Early 2003 I'd guess.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

The only book signing I've ever attended was when I got to meet Rothfuss earlier this year. He read a snippet from WMF and it was awesome. I hope to get to JordanCon this year.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

That's a hard one. Either TSR or TFOH, though TGH holds a special place for me because of the "Worlds That Might Be." Pretty much any writing like that where the characters are living things that aren't necessarily real qualify as my favorite WoT scenes (Accepted/AS testings, Rhuidean column walk, etc). I like the gateway it gives to the characters' inner fears and the fortitude they find to conquer them.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Really the only main character I genuinely dislike is Elayne. I like nearly all the others that people love to hate (e.g. Egwene, Cadsuane), but I'd put Mat and Nynaeve as my two favorites.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Matt Stover saved me from reading mindless tripe for the rest of my life. My first exposure to him was his entry in the New Jedi Order series. It was unlike anything I'd ever read in the genre, and I immediately picked up his Caine novels, which were a big bag of awesome soaked in awesome sauce. In the back of one of them was an interview where he cited Heinlein and Zelazny as some big influences on him, so I had to give them a try. So, in a nutshell, Matt Stover has enriched my life more than your average author.

Scott Lynch and GRRM are great too. Their output is slow, but Brandon is really spoiling us there. Also, I can't get enough of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan novels, or pretty much any Cold War era thrillers for that matter. Guilty pleasures, those.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I confess, my biggest worry was that it wouldn't be revealed organically in a way that made sense, especially this late in the series. I really liked the reveal in "Writings" because of its subtlety. I think this was a tribute to Jordan, because it's the kind of thing he would have done, probably laughing at us the whole time. I was disappointed in the killer's glossary entry though; I can't believe that made it through the editing process. As far as the actual identity of the killer, I'm glad we know, but I have no strong feelings one way or another.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I get the impression that there are a good deal of notes on the prequels, not outlines per se, but at least backstory notes that Jordan had when he was originally writing EotW. So, a resounding yes to the prequels.

If you'd asked me a year ago, I'd have said no to the outriggers. That was before Aviendha went to Rhuidean. Now I don't know what to think. I think it depends on if the story was plotted, even vaguely, by Jordan, or if Brandon and Team Jordan had to write them based on the premise he left. A lot hangs on AMoL. I need to know that it's all been worth it.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I was a trombone major in college, though you were more likely to find me reading a fantasy novel than in a practice room. Also, I've got a whole shelf full of Heinlein novels that I'm inordinately proud of.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

I was resigned to Fain = Gollum, but now that Brandon has dispelled that in a recent interview, I have no idea what to expect, but I know it'll be great.

Verin was a favorite of mine that was wrapped up quite nicely. I doubt we'll get much more of her though; it would detract from her mystique.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

I'm still holding out hope for Stasis Box Taim. Also, I've been a fan of Terez's Padan Fain Stealing Shadowspawn theory since before she codified it into dissertation length.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

A: About damn time...knew the truth for years.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

A: Depends on what Harriet wants...I certainly wont be upset if she decides to have him do it.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

A: At least once a week, I eat takeout Sushi for lunch.

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland?

A: Sep 03 for the main boards, Jan 04 for the message boards...I never was a Youngling though (went straight from no rank to Elder)

10. So I am the oboe professor at the University of Iowa. It's a wonderful job which I love immensely even with (or maybe because of) its many challenges.
Awesome. I could have sworn I knew at least one person on the music faculty there, but I just looked at the faculty page and didn't see anyone except for a violin prof whom I believe is married to our ex-clarinet prof. Also, you might have gone to Eastman with one of our ex-piano profs, and I have a theory prof who did his doc at Yale but I think it was before your time, lol. You look pretty young. :D

We are losing our oboe prof (http://www.usm.edu/music/index.php/faculty/pennington/) at the end of this semester, which is sad, because she is awesome. But I don't think they have hired anyone yet, if you know anyone who is looking. ;)

I was a trombone major in college, though you were more likely to find me reading a fantasy novel than in a practice room.
I was the same way when I was a trumpet major. Now that I'm a piano major, I actually practice. I think brass players hate practicing more than any other instrumentalists. Something unpleasant about bashing your lips between your teeth and a huge chunk of metal.

I've been a fan of Terez's Padan Fain Stealing Shadowspawn theory since before she codified it into dissertation length.Yay! Now I need to re-write it with new info in mind. I no longer think he is the most likely candidate to have sent the attack on Ebou Dar, for instance - Graendal's comment about the Shadowspawn she was given to create chaos changes the stakes a bit. Also, the Shadow doesn't fear Machin Shin as much as I'd presumed. But the Mashadar element makes Fain posing as Sammael much more solid.

@Terez

I'm not sure what kept me out of the practice rooms. Escapism maybe. I think I realized that making my hobby my job was making me grow to dislike it. Eventually I put down the horn for 2 years. We're cool now though. Truthfully, the piano is my first musical love. Unfortunately I couldn't bring my piano with me from Ohio to Wisconsin. Stupid small apartments with noise regulations and stupid small moving van.

There are a lot of musicians here (well, several anyhow); I like that. Also, I use the word "also", semicolons and parenthises more than is normal.

Yes. I got to meet RJ in Lexington, Ky (He explained "Easing the Badger" to me) (my pic with him used to be on the main TL page...might still be but I haven't been there in a while) and I met Brandon at Jordancon last year

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

The Fires of Heaven

I haven't read that far yet, so no reaction.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

It wouldn't matter to me even a little bit. I think he would do a good job though.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I just got a new pistol. Haven't even shot it yet. I carried a pistol all during J-con last year and nobody seemed to notice, so i guess my hidey holster works.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since around 1997.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

No

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Around -98 when I joined pre-theoryland.com when it was hosted on insidetheweb.com

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

At this point I can't say which one is the best, I think there are like three-four books after each other that ranks equally good. I certainly can't rank them all perfectly.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Been overall Mat.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Keeping to fantasy, I'd say The Dresden Files, A Song of Ice and Fire are high up on the list. I just wished that ASoIF would be completed anytime this century.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Was expected. Lousy way of telling us.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Leaning towards No. Depends on how much material there is to go from. If none it's basically fan fiction...

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Here's what he told me, and I'm paraphrasing quite a bit.

In Eastern Europe they have a badger called a honey Badger. It likes to break into honeybee hives and get the honey. People figured out that the Badger would get stung so many times it would basically go into a coma for a little while and then wake up and start eating the honey. If you were lucky enough to be around when he went into his comatose state, then you could ease him out of the way and steal the honey for yourself.

Now, how much of that is true, I couldn't tell you, but that's his explanation for the name. I wish I had gotten the chance to ask him about a nine horse hitch.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since July 2003

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

www.readandfindout.com

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

July 2003. After Moiraine disappeared I *had* to find out if she came back. Sadly she hadn't yet :p

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I saw Brandon in Lincoln. It's fun being around people who are nerdier than me :D

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

The Shadow Rising
Lord of Chaos
The Dragon Reborn
Knife of Dreams
The Gathering Storm

Tie: Crown of Swords/Eye of the World/The Great Hunt/Fires of Heaven/Towers of Midnight/Winter's Heart

Path of Daggers
Crossroads of Twilight

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favorite: Mat, Moiraine, and Tuon (pre-ToM *crosses fingers for her in AMoL*)

Least: Perrin - he improved in ToM but I think I will still groan in AMoL every time I see that it's his PoV again.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Farseer trilogy (it's the only thing that comes close to WoT for me)

8. I cared so little I'm deleting the question.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I change my mind about this a lot. I guess I'd like to see the Moiraine prequel but I'd be worried about her character not being right.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
i started when the teotw came out in massmarket paperback. bought it from a local bookstore (pj's) and tgh was in trade paperback. i was still in college so around '91 or '92, i'm not sure but close to twenty years now.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
i've been lurking for a bit now...here and dragonmount and tor and the 13th. not long, though. i am a lurker by nature.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
i have probably read tsr the most, so i guess i would fall in line with the norm and say that is my favorite, but i am partial to tgh. fain and lanfear and falme and ingtar and the seanchan and sheathing the sword and the white rod.

tgh, tsr, loc, foh, tgs, tom, teotw, tdr, cos, cot, kod, wh...

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
favorites--min, avi, mat, thom, loial, lanfear, rand, moraine, lan, nynaeve(lately), brigitte, and logain. and of course--perrin with his b.a. hammer.
least--any of the lame forsaken, sevanna, couladin, berelain, and faile(of course)

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
love tad williams, hp, the sandman graphic novels, and david brin's uplift series...

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
didn't really give a flying f*** one way or another. figured there was about fitty folk who wanted him dead.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
i like bs' stuff. please write the outriggers at the very least.

Poor asmo..

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since mid 2001

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Strangely, it didn't occur to me to go looking until recently.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Recently.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No :(

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

Either Lord of Chaos or Knife of Dreams

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

#1 absolute favorite - Verin. Logain is a close second.

Least favorite? Faile. With Perrin a close second until ToM. Never thought I'd find Perrin interesting...

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

No specific books, but anything by Robert Anton Wilson, Thomas Pynchon or Clive Barker usually does it for me.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Meh

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

If he can do them proper justice, I'd like to read them.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Don't get me started on Tuesdays. No, really. I really, really hate Tuesdays. That's a pretty random detail.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Most of them have been resolved. Mostly I just want to know where Demandred is. Also now, Logain. Wondering what Verin was up to spun my head for years.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

I keep thinking Rand is going to seal the bore with the TP, but I have no idea why I think that.

I've been meaning to add the following to the database since about May or June. Delving into the catacombs of rasfwr-j, I actually found a signing report about Easing the Badger (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan/browse_thread/thread/6462f5f6b2b78e00/1e93bcea261d71bd?q=easing+badger&lnk=nl&&pli=1):

Well, he didn't give a "within-WoT" story explanation. But "Easing the Badger" and the picture of the dancing badger and the man with a golden (not silver, like in his book) shovel came out of a history book RJ had read. (His wife remembered the name, but I forgot it, along with the historical period.) There was a group in England who used that name and had that iconography on a banner. He didn't know anything about the group other than that, but his wife speculated that "Easing the Badger" could be something like the "Upping of the Swans", which was the annual count of the swans living in the royal gardens.

For what it's worth, when he signed my book, he wrote "You're too young to know what 'Easing the Badger' means!"

Do a search on google books for "easing the badger" and see what shows up. Mostly snippet views, but if you're interested enough, you could chase down the books they're from.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

since late '90s, I forget when exactly. There was a long gap between reading the Eye of the World and the rest of the books though, due to English-language bookstore unavailability where I lived.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

No. TL is my first and only online community. I don't even have a MyFace account.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

2003

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

no, haven't been

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

LOC. I just love the combination of build-up, intrigue, politics, scheming and action in that book.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Egwene has been a favourite of mine since book 1 and she just keeps getting better and better. The rest of the characters fluctuate and change. I used to find Faile annoying (but apparently not nearly as much as some others I've talked to). The only exceptions that I consistently dislike are Mat and Elaida

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

There are too many to list... The favourites that have stayed with me are the Pern universe by McCaffrey, the worlds of Robin Hobb, ASOIAF (even though it looks like it'll never be finished), Otherland by Tad Williams, Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, LotR and The Hobbit... and Harry Potter.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

meh

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

stop. At least for a while. The guy deserves to write his own things. If he decides to go on with the prequels RJ had already outlined, then that's ok I guess - I'll definitely read them. But I think that once WoT as a whole is done, then it's done.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

meh. I was born in the USSR, raised in the (independent again, yay!) Republic of Estonia, now live in The Netherlands. There are a few buttons that you can press to get me fuming but overall I like to think I'm a mellow kind of poster. I have a BA in History, work in IT consultancy (it's even more boring than most people think History is), I like to paint even though sometimes I frustrate myself so much when I can't get it right... and for relaxation, I like to knit.

X. When did you join Theoryland?

ezboard times... I joined the main site in late 2003, the forums in early 2004

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
it's way out there but my theory goes that LTT had a third someone in his life. Ilyena was blonde, Lanfear a brunette, where is the redhead? symmetry, it's all about symmetry.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

1991ish.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Not anymore. Way back in the mists of time I was at a place called pacific pages wot bbs and the newsgroup. The first morphed into Pages of Prophecy and then The Portalstone. After those sites all died I was out of fandom until Tam told me to come to theoryland at Jordancon 09.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

1996-1997

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I saw RJ on the Winter's Heart tour. It was an interesting situation because I gave up the chance to become a Black Belt to go see RJ. My master never forgave me for skipping testing lmao.

At the signing what really struck me was how abysmal the casual wot fan is. People were mystified about Moridin's true identity and it was scary. I was too tongue tied to talk to RJ much. He was a personal hero to me since I started reading the books when I was like 11. Only thing I managed to get out to ask him was about population levels (Tar Valon 650,000, Andor 10M, Caemlyn and other "great cities" 400-500k) The bookstore had a 2 or 3 book limit but that wasn't a problem I just went out to my car got another 2 or 3 books and got back into line like 3 or 4 times.

I was at Jordancon 2009. I won the WoT trivia contest there. I think I was disgusting people with how fast I was hitting the buzzer. I would be honored to be defeated by Terez in battle. ;)

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

"They will pay, Lews Therin growled. I am the Lord of the Morning."

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

favorite- Rand, LTT, Mat, Ishamael, Demandred, Moggy, Lanfear, Moiraine, Bela, Ilyena, Nalesean, Talmanes, Thom, Lan, Birgitte, Asmo, Alivia, Min, Avi

Least favorite: Egwene in all her incarnations, gawyn, elayne, Taim ( i love reading about him just hates him), Caddyshack.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

That would be blasphemy. Series I read and enjoy though are: Sword of Shadow by J.V. Jones, Wars of Light and Shadow by Janny Wurts, everything by Tad Williams, Farseer and Tawny Man by Robin Hobb, Mickey Zucker Reichert, Dave Duncan, Terry Prachett

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I enjoyed Tam's "what's said at the table stays at the table" Asmo moment more. I wasn't really surprised by the outcome though.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I don't know but I'll read them if they happen. I won't be able to help myself.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Finnish Vodka, Nokias, WoT, and girls are some of life's pleasures. My oldest daughter is named Min Alivia. I think divorce happened when I mentioned James Oliver Rigney for the boy. That's what you get for waking up in vegas - or at least for dating a non-wot fan.

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland?

April 2009, but I've always been a HCFF at heart.

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

The mystery of the missing second half of the manuscript for tPoD (Tor had it in their hidden super secret warehouse, and were in the process of moving it when LTT appeared. "Eat balefire pirates, Ilyennnnaaa NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." No more manuscript.)

I wonder about a lot of things in the series which will never be explained. My favorite area is Age of Legends. What ended the first age? Is the channeling gene a genetic mutation? How long did the age last? How did Mierin and LTT meet? Also I'm interested in the true nature of the Bore, of the DO and the Pattern itself, Portal Stones, et cetera.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

I was hoping Aginor and Balthamel would be transmigrated a second time (three strikes and you're out) and their final deaths would be congruent with their lives in the AoL. Balthamel would die by way of a falling bookcase and Aggy would have a tragic encounter with a bunsen burner.

I think Perrin and Mat have to be at SG in relation to Min's firefly vision. Rand is the champion of the Pattern and Wheel, the Creator takes no part. Lanfear will help seal the Bore. Bela is more important than we think.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No, I don't live in the US

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

1. TSR, TGH, LoC
4. ToM, TGS, TFoH, WH, TDR
9. TEoTW, ACoS, KoD
12. TPoD, CoT

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Fav: The three ta'veren, Lanfear, the Aiel, Loial, Nynaeve, Logain, Elayne

Least fav: Egwene, Egwene, Egwene, Gawyn, Egwene, Sevanna, Elaida, Egwene and um... Egwene

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

There are so many of them

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Couldn't care less actually. This is one of the WoT mysteries that never got me. The glossary could have written "Bela killed Asmodean" and I would have just said "oh, ok"

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Depends on how the series will finish. But the more Mat - the better :)

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
Very close between tGH, TSR and tFoH. Damn, just thinking about them makes me want to re-read

Fav- Mat of the mains, Flinn of the minors. Hate- Sevannah/Elaida/Gawyn. So unbelievably stupid.

Ok, right, here goes:

1. How long have you been reading WoT? I picked up the eye of the world on a total whim in 2000, I liked the cover. This was back when DKSweet's covers were used in the UK. How ironic is that?

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
I am macaroni, or something similar on Dragonmount, Tarvalon and with the cool kids on Westeros lol

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
When I got as far as I could by about 2001, I started thinking 'it can't just be me that all these mysterious threads are affecting.' The fact that WoT was a best-selling series intuitively led me to think there was fansites out there. I was not disappointed. This was my first fansite and I originally created a persona called potatoman after some time of lurking. I miss the old white theoryland - am I the only one?

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Nope, RJ never did leave your fine country very often, did he ever come to the UK? I did go to an GRRM signing once, I remember vividly being the only person there in a suit as I had just finished work! If BS comes to the UK, I will go to a signing, this I swear!

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
LoC. I prefer not to rank them, I'll just say that CoT was by a country-mile the worst book in the series. I remember finishing the book and thinking 'Is THAT IT?' After reading subsequent books, I get the impression that RJ made an error in plotting to appease the fans. Maybe I am wrong?

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
I've always like Faile, Nynaeve and Egwene. Worst is Elayne. Mat/Perrin/Rand are slightly clichť'ed for my tastes. Still like them though.

Out of the secondary characters, I'd say Talmanes is my favourite, I feel he has improved under BS's stewardship.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
I read all sorts of genres and I love historical fiction such as sharpe or conn iggulden's books. In the fantasy area, GRRM is a brilliant if frustratingly slow writer - I suppose you learn patience when reading a fantasy series. Love Malazan but feel it's lost its way a little - if you think RJ was guilty of overweaning prose, you should read Steven Erikson! Favourite new writer is Bakker - the prince of nothing series is nothing short of fantastic!

Currently reading the millenium series, if ever the term Mary-Sue was invented, it was for Lisbeth Salander.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
I was in the 'meh' camp. After ten years, it lost its relevance to me. I thought it was Lanfear - heyho.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Yes, but after a few years. I think he deserves to make his name with the TWOK series. I do agree there's a series risk of the WoT series being sullied by interminable prequels and follow-on books. Look at Tolkien and these outrigger novels...have you read any of them? Don't.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)
I went to the same school as Tolkien. My cousins are working on the new game of thrones TV series in Belfast. Macaroni is actually my real nickname, family members call me it. My missus hates WoT, the word she used was 'twee'.

X. When did you join Theoryland? Under potatoman...god knows. you tell me. probably 03 or 04?

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries? Probably Demandred. It's the only big one left, surely?

Z. Do you have any pet theories? Fain is the buffer between saidan/saidar and the dark one's bore.

I guess it's similar for Canadians? :D

No offense to anybody, but I feel much safer anywhere in Canada than in the States, because of the fact that we don't have the right to bear arms, like in the States.

Unless it's recently changed without my knowledge. Then I feel extremely unsafe. *hides under bed*

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since early-mid 2005.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Nope.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Several years ago, but I never joined any forums.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Unfortunately not. :(

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

All of them! Seriously, this is a really ahrd question to answer. I tend to read the series all of the way through in quick succession so I never quite remember exactly what happens in which book. I'll try to make a top 3...

Lord of Chaos
Fires of Heaven
Knife of Dreams

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

I like different characters more/less during each read-through, so this is another toughy. Aviendha and most of the Aiel have always been favorites. I also really like the minor characters that we see a lot such as Nalesean, Dobraine, etc.

My least favorites would be Elaida, Sevanna, Melaine, Sammael, etc.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I read a lot and, indeed, there are many great books out there, but nothing compares to WoT, IMO. You can find my long list of books HERE (http://evcitadel.com/home/showthread.php?14648-Books!&p=202547&viewfull=1#post202547).

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

'That's nice. Next!' I was never as intrigued by Asmodean's death as all of the crazy theorizers.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I'd love to see the prequels be written, but I can't see the Outriggers being justified.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I'm 22, married, and work in tech support. My favorite is probably pizza and favorite beverage is water. When not working, with my wife, or reading, I spend a lot of time with my gaming-guild, Eternal Vigilance (http://evcitadel.com/home/index.php). My all-time favorite video games include (but are not limited to) Suikoden III, Legend of Dragoon, Age of Empires II, Romance of the Three Kingdoms VII, and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since about 1999-2000. Got them much earlier as a present, but I was pretty young at the time, read the first 50-100 pages and gave up (ironically, stopped just before the book actually started).

Picked tEoTW back up, and ripped through it, at a friend's request. Passed my friend in about 2 weeks. Finished up the rest in a few months.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I used to visit wotmania. I typically stick to the Theories, and ignored the forums.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Less than a year after I started. Mid 2000s, I believe.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Nope :-(

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

That's a hard question to answer, since there are so many factors. Foreshadowing, hidden clues, character development, plot development, mysteries, etc....

Probably Lord of Chaos or Path of Daggers.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favourite is probably Fain.

Least favourite is hard, since all characters have their attraction. I found Elayne pretty obnoxious, and didn't want to read her sections after a while.

I also like Faile *ducks*

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I like Mercedes Lackey, George RR Martin, a few others. None as much as WoT. I will say that I like my philosophy (Ancient Greecian, Kant, Voltaire) about as much, but in a COMPLETELY different way.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

It was more like, "Finally!" Then I mentioned it to my friend, who had completely missed it.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

This is a tough one, for me. I like the world and want to see it further developed. I'd like to learn more about everything and how it all wors. However, I don't like the idea of there being more Canon.

I'd kind of prefer that it just be left to unofficial fan fiction for development.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

Hrmmm... I've introduced two girlfriends to the series. One gave up about halfway through TGH. The other is just starting tEOtW now. Much more hopeful now.

Also, I'm very detail oriented, very rational and logical. I'm a bit of a perfectionist (OCD and OCPD). Luckily, that means that I'm great at developing and analyzing theories.

X. When did you join Theoryland?

Around 2000. I came on here, made a few theories and posts, then went back into lurking for a while. After CoT, I left all the sites for a while, waiting for the next books. Only just got back.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Mostly related to Cosmology. The way that the DO, the Creator, the OP, the TP, the Pattern, etc.... all work. Basically, the mysteries that are never going to be solved (hence, they're the best mysteries).

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

I had a couple theories that I really liked. Real Dragons was a good one. For Aludra's riddle, I was FIRMLY of the belief that it was a trick. What could SHE use a bellfounder for? Bells! I was very let down when it turned out to be the obvious choice. *cries*

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
I lurk at Dragonmount, 13th Depository and a few random others

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
2005 - I joined wotmania, but wasn't really active

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
nope :(

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

My favorite is TGS, since I was sure it would never be written

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favorites vary, but Tuon annoys me more than most.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
I love sharing Anne McCaffrey, Elizabeth Moon, and Robin McKinley books with my older kids, love the Valdemar series, and still love Eddings. I haven't read many newer authors, but plan on it one of these days....
8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
Wasn't a big surprise. But I can't believe I waited to read the glossary, and was so disappointed when I realized that was the spoiler in it.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Sure, the more WOT the merrier

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I'm an unemployed (by choice) Health Inspector. I don't enjoy eating at restaurants anymore. I have five kids (18, 17, 13, 1 year and 2 months) and am questioning my sanity at starting motherhood over again. Two kids in diapers at the same time still sucks. I'm trying to get my husband to read WOT, and he's trying to get me to build a character on WOW.

As my family is from Belfast, I can definitely testify that there were plenty of guns about. Not so much now.

I've come to the conclusion that the whole gun thing is best left to Americans, it's an important part of their history and part of the whole libertarian/frontier idealism that pervades. I can't help but feel the whole 'we keep them to keep the government from overreaching themselves' is a bit sinister, though. Doesn't feel very democratic to me. Heyho, what do I know?

For those European folk (I think I'm one of them), I think per capita, the Swiss have more gun owners than the States. But then, I think they do it for different reasons, they have all the money...wouldn't you want to protect it! gawd bless the gnomes of Zurich!

IMO they are equally justified because apparently there is an equal amount of notes for both, and RJ was planning on doing the outriggers first.

Even with an equal amount of notes, you know whereabouts the prequels need to end in order to fit within the existing lore. I didn't know he planned to write the Outriggers before the other prequels, however...

Also, I disagree with some people that posted after me. Sevanna's character always seemed a little off to me.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
3 years-ish. Been reading it nonstop since then.

Edit: Just remembered that I read Eye of the World once 13 years ago, but didn't have access to the rest of the series.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Dragonmount, the SomethingAwful thread, and tarvalon somewhat. I generally only lurk, though, since I have people in real life to talk to about the Wheel of Time.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Pretty much right after I finished Knife of Dreams. Don't ask me when that was. I have no sense of time.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
No, but if there were one reasonably close, I would go.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
Eye of the World.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
My favorite character is Ishamael. My least favorite is that minor Aes Sedai character who thinks she's better than everyone else.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Chronicles of Amber. It's not better than WoT, though.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
She was the most likely suspect. It was underwhelming.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
I enjoy the debating the metaphysics, if that counts.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
Plenty. Mostly I believe that the Final Battle will involve the real world merging with Tel'aran'rhiod, also that the Dark One is not real and is going to be a mass nightmare that was elaborately planned by Ishamael.

Lurk somewhat at Dragonmount, read along with WOT re-read also.

Raccoons can be total dicks. Every once in a while they get into the eves of my house and we have to get Freddy the Trapmaster to come get them out. I also had a neighbor who was schizophrenic and allowed her house to fall into disrepair. After she moved out the new family found the upper floors of her house to be totally infested with raccoons, they had the hardest time getting rid of them. 1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Circa 1995 - after Lord of Chaos was released but before A Crown of Swords. Not 100% sure of the date.

1. 2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I lurk on various sites, most notably Dragonmount. Theoryland is the only forum I read regularly though.

1. 3. When did you discover the online fandom?

I've been aware of the FAQ for a loonngg time. A few years in the case of Theoryland and Dragonmount.

1. 4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Yes - RJ, promoting A Crown of Swords here in the UK. It was at the old Forbidden Planet in London.

1. 5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

Lord of Chaos.

1. 6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

I have a fondness for Mat, Nynaeve and Min (quel surprise) but am less keen on Gawyn, Egwene and Elaine.

1. 7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Steven Erikson's Malazan books, CJ Cherryh's Alliance-Union and Atevi series, anything by Robin Hobb or Kate Elliot, George Martin's Game of Thrones/ASoIaF (if he ever finishes it ...)

1. 8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Apathy - was never one of the mysteries that particularly engaged me.

1. 9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I'm in two minds - I'd like to see more story, but I'd hate to see terrible continuations like have been churned out for Dune. From what I've seen of Brandon's work, I'm happy that wouldn't be the case.

1. 10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

For my novel, I had the same publisher (in Germany) as GRR Martin. I'm not a novelist by trade though - I've had a sideline in the RPG industry that occasionally involves fiction.

1. Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Where's Demandred, who is Taim and what is he up to, unravelling prophecies, why hasn't Bela stepped up to face the Dark One directly :)

1. Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Taimadin - Taim is Taim, but he's also Moridin (Ishy's soul had to be put somewhere, so why not in the body of a strong current-age channeler).

"You carry it because you were chosen, Master Jasin Natael." Asmodean gave a start and looked around, though everyone else was too far away, and too busy, to be listening. None but they two would have understood, anyway. "What do you know about those ruins up near the snow line? They must come from the Age of Legends."
Asmodean did not even glance up the mountain. "This world is very changed from the world I... went to sleep in." He sounded weary, and he shivered slightly. "What I know of what lies where, I have learned since waking." The mournful sounds of "The March of Death" rose from his harp. "That could be what is left of the city where I was born, for all I know. Shorelle was a port."

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

lurk on dragonmount, occasionally

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

nope :(

after my first read through it was LoC, haven't made it quite that far on my second read through so I'll stick with that for now

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Mat

Thom
Egwene (at least until ToM where she's annoying as hell)

least:
Fain
Lanfear

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Orson Scott Card's Ender series books, but probably not any more than WoT

I was never very intrigued by the mystery so... "meh"

I'd really like to see the outriggers with Mat and Tuon. don't really care about the prequels. I think their worry about letting it go too far is a little silly, especially in light of something like delaying the ebook release of ToM.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
I lurk at them all, but reserve all posting for theoryland

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
1999

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
nope

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
I love them all equally, for different reasons

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Favorite is Mat, least favorite is Elayne

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Dark Tower series by stephen king, lots of others...Dark Tower is the only one on the same level as WoT for me though...

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
it was "God I love being right!"

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Prequel, no. Outriggers, Yes...in his own voice, none of this attempting to duplicate RJ's writing style and failing nonsense.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since about 2004

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I occasionally post at readandfindout, and very often at the Thirteenth Depository.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Right after I discovered the series.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Nope.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

I'll go with Winter's Heart as my favorite - bizarre, I know.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Nynaeve is my absolute favorite main character. A few others include Perrin, Berelain, Lanfear, Graendal, Damer Flinn, Rodel Ituralde, Siuan, Loial, Cadsuane, Corele, Samitsu, Setalle, Thom, Verin, Tam. Previously, Rand was my least favorite, though the last two books have changed that. Now I'd say Mat is my least favorite.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Series, no. Individual books, yes.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I was somewhat disappointed. I instinctively assumed it was Slayer - I never read many of the theories on his death. Wasn't that important, yet being wrong isn't fun.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Almost 20 years now, started somewhere between EotW and tGH

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Here is about it. I lurk DM but they hurt my head too much.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Hmm, lurked some back in the usenet days, early 90's sometime.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
Three with Sanderson so far but only two of them while he was working on WoT. He likes Portland it seems.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
The Shadow Rising but basically any of the first seven books are right up there too.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Most:
Rand (both ultimate pit fighter and Jesus versions)
Mat, Lan and of course Big Mo
Least:
Perrin&Fail, I wish they would be hit by a meteor.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson (the first 3 books)
Hyperion by Dan Simmons (the first 3)
The Foundation series by Asimov
Larry Niven's Ringworld series
Any series by Gene Wolfe with sun in the title
I liked all these better then the second half of Wot and none of them more than the first half of WoT.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
That's nice.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
No. The series is getting to be like a prize fighter just past his prime. Still respected but not far from becoming its own caricature of its own past glory.

Hello, I havent read anyone elses responses, and I dont care right now!

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Just before winters heart came out so... 8 years?

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
No, I pretty much found my level of nerdiness instantly at TL

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
I believe around 2003/4. Whenever I actually signed up for TL

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
No. As far as I know. Australia doesnt have many things happening. The things that do happen happen too far away.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
rDR. Rand takes a backseat, and the other TV get a chance to shine.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Most:
Logain: Takes what he gets, does what he has to do, but isn't afraid to voice what he thinks is the right path.
Least:
Nynaeve: Admit you arent always right, and die in a fire you horrid bitch.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? I read many series, some complete, some incomplete. I don't think it is fair to compare complete stories to incomplete stories, but WoT is the first series to inspire the type of behaviour I display for WoT.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
It was 'Great, now people might shut up about it.'

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
Stop writing. The outriggers would be nice, but they aren't BS' story. I would read them if they were there, but he needs to write his own stuff.

I used to belong to Wotmania, lurked at Dragonmount, 13th Depository, joined here once before but forgot the username.:o

3. When did you discover the online fandom? 2000 or so.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Have either ever been to Australia?

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

My favourite is Fires of Heaven; Nynaeve's awesomeness started to shine in this one. I won't rank the others, as they have all contributed to enjoyment of the saga.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Nynaeve, her love for her folk is awesome, as well of her doing amazing things while remaining HERSELF unlike others who let their environment dictate how they behave.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Katerine Kerr's Deverry series ranks equally with WOT, because her magical system so closely resembles the Western Mystery Tradition of Dion Fortune and the Golden Dawn. Stephen Donaldson's Gap series was pretty great, Isobel Carmody started the Darksong Trilogy, but it's been about 7 years I've been waiting for the 3rd book, so I'm losing hope for that one. Also Terry Pratchett is the greatest writer of all time, he surpasses Shakespeare.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

The mystery was made greater than it should have been, did anyone really care anymore?

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I would like to see them written, by Brandon or someone else. Seeker comes to mind....

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I live on 70 acres of rainforest. I am a carer in a nursing home and love it.

Where is Demandred (of course), how will the LB be fought, will we see Verin when the Horn is blown, what has Moghedien been up to, can Aviendha save the Aiel? Will Elayne stop trying to get herself killed?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Not really, I've always found an open mind gets the best surprises.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Don't recall the year. The paperback version of tDR had just been published. I bought every hardcover from that point on.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Very rarely and mostly on DM.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Back in the 90's when I stumbled across the usenet group rec.arts.something.something.blah.blah

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

I've never been to any signing or had any interest in doing anything like that

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

Knife of Dreams. RJ was finely back in form, but unfortunately a swan song.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favs=Mat, Moiraine, Verin, Aviendha, Tuon, Dobraine and Teslyn.

Knaves=Gawyn, Cadsuane, Katerine...eh...the list is long, so I'll stop here.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Too many to list

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I never cared and still don't.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Stop. No seriously, just stop.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I prefer logic.

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

What's up with Alanna?

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Tuon will be collared by someone and it needs to be done publicly. The damane will never accept their freedom otherwise. When the Empress is exposed it will make as much of an impact on Seanchan society as the revelation that the 'true' Aiel were dedicated to the "Way of the Leaf".

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Since 2003.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Nope. TL was the first one I found and the only one I check. I poked around Dragonmount a bit when RJ's blog was there, but other than that, no.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
2004.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon?
No. If the Cambridge one had been a week later this year I could have made it, but no luck.

5. What is your favorite WoT book?
I have a weird fondness for CoS because I like when Nynaeve breaks her block. But on the whole, probably TSR.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favorites: Nynaeve, Moiraine, Egwene
Least favorite: PERRIN. I also fall asleep during the Rodel Ituralde stuff.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
There are a lot of books that I like more than WoT, but in terms of fantasy, WoT's the only one I still read, with rare exceptions.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
I thought that the way it was confirmed was weak and annoying, but I've never cared much about that particular debate. I genuinely didn't give it a second thought before I discovered TL.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?
I'm more comfortable with the idea of prequels, though I'd rather know the content of the outriggers. I feel bad for Brandon, though. He has too much on his plate all the time.

10. Tell us something about yourself.
Last year of college studying English and Italian. No idea what the eff I'm doing.

X. When did you join Theoryland?
2004, when I was still a wee lad.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?
Lanfear's the top one. Not so much a mystery, but the mythological allusions and the way he wove them together are the most fascinating part of the series for me.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?
No.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

I've been reading WOT since grade 6 so its been almost 3-4 years.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Just occasionally at Dragonmount.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

Almost a year ago and was lurking from them till just a week ago.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

He never comes to Canada that often, so no.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

My favorite is the Dragon Reborn.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

My favorite has to be Mat, although Perrin did get a lot better in TOM.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

As much as WOT not really.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

It was a pretty big let down, I was hoping for some huge reveal and instead there were some offhanded comments and a glossary entry.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

While I do think Brandon is a good writer in many respects, I'd rather they at least look to see if there is anyone else who can do the job better.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I b-boy dance.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

A friend put me on to it in the ninth grade - that would have been 1994. The first book I had to wait for was Crown of Swords.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

I am a member of Dragonmount as well, and have posted there.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

I started lurking around a few years ago, usually when a new book was becoming due and I wanted to refresh some of my knowledge without doing a re-read. I only started to actively engage in online fandom this year however.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No. I don't think there have ever been any in Australia.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

I like whatever is the most recent book to have come out. I love the world and the story, so any addition or advancement to these things is great. For me, the earlier books feel less developed, no doubt because the author was still building the fundamentals of the world.
For me, although EoTW is a great read, it feels like the pilot episode of a new tv series, whereas the later books, especially WH onwards, have really developed and enriched my sense of immersion as a reader.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

All the boys, but Perrin is probably my favourite, and has always been. I think his personal development has been the most profound and believable over the course of the books, although at times it was a little frustrating. I like Faile too, for the record :)
I like Egwene, because in many ways what she has achieved is just as extraordinary as the three boys, and she is not Ta'veren - just a very determined and talented person.
Fain is awesome too, just awesomely creepy, and I like the Aiel for their sense of humour.

Dislike? Elaida was horrible, and I don't like Fortuona much at the moment, probably for the same reason I didn't like Elaida. They are both just too convinced of their own righteousness, which makes them blind to other points of view. That is the worst kind of ignorance imo.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Yes and no. I read a lot, and a lot of different things, and love a lot of what I read. For example, Cormac McCarthy is one of my favourite authors, and I can't imagine anything much further from the WoT than his stark novels. Neil Gaiman is another favourite, as is China Meiville. However, for sheer involvement, the only worlds that come close to WoT for me are Discworld and Middle Earth.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

I was a little underwhelmed. I guess I'd kind of built it up as this Agatha Christie-type murder mystery in my head (Miss Marple gathering everyone in the throne room at Caemlyn and picking apart the conundrum with unassuming inexorability "So you see, it can't have been Rand, as he was in the drawing room talking to the Vicar at the time, but that begs the question - who was that he heard clipping the hedgerow outside the window and whistling?").

For it to just be kind of "yeah, it was Graendal all along" left me a little....unsatisfied.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I would definitely like some outriggers. Yes please.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I teach fifth and sixth grade.

Er...okay I'm a little late to this party. It's been busy here recently...

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Only since spring of 2004. I've been reading science fiction and fantasy for a long time, but for some reason didn't give WoT a try until a colleague recommended it to me.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Yeah, I occasionally lurk at some of them. I don't usually post on any forums other than Theoryland, though.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

I started lurking at Theoryland in early 2006 after having checked out the other sites.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

Yeah, but only recent ones - JordanCon, DragonCon, and a TWoK signing this year. I am sad that I never got to go to one of RJ's signings. :(

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

I'm not really into ranking stuff all that much. I guess, if I was threatened with torture using pink ribbons, I would select TSR as my favorite. TFoH is up there, too, as is TGS. And I have to throw in NS as one of my favorites...I love the Moiraine/Siuan/White Tower stuff in that book.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favorites: Hatch, of course. :p

Again, not really into ranking... I enjoy almost all of the characters at various times. I probably would have said that Moraine was my favorite if she hadn't gone missing from so many books. I have enjoyed Egwene in the last few books, though, and I also sometimes really enjoy those characters we are supposed to dislike, such as Elaida.

Least favorites...Fain.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

None as much as WoT, now. But there are many others that I enjoy.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

My reaction was *YAWN*. . . that was it?

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

I'm all for the prequels and outriggers, particularly since they would be based on RJ's notes.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I love carbenes. And sulfur.

As an aside, did anyone notice that BS (and RJ before him) uses the British spelling of sulfur, i.e., 'sulphur' and 'sulphurous'?

Also, if you joined any time in the last couple of years, you don't have to answer this one. We can see your join date. If you joined on Yuku or some other board lost in the mists of time:

X. When did you join Theoryland?

I joined Theoryland in October 2006.

And these are also optional - perhaps only for the most hard core:

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Er...there are lots. Some:

- What will be the resolution of the Egwene/Seanchan woman dream?

- What other Darkfriends are lurking near the main characters?

- What is the deal with the roughly 1/3 of Aes Sedai who stood aside during the Tower split?

- I am very interested in how all the parallels with myths and legends, particularly the Arthurian ones, play out.

- Also, I'd like to learn even more about portal stones, parallel worlds, mirror worlds, TAR, GOI, etc.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Here are a few that come to mind:

The Caemlyn Waygate has finally been used to invade Andor. I am surprised (and considered this before TOM came out) that the Waygate at Tar Valon hasn't been used in the same way. Perhaps in AMoL it will be used to throw the White Tower into chaos, with (nearly) simultaneous attacks from both the Shadow (via Waygate) and the Seanchan (via Traveling).

Ta'veren are the equivalent of strange attractors in the Pattern.

Thom and Gareth will get killed off in the Last Battle, and Moiraine and Siuan finally will be able to get back together (without having to wait for Thom and Gareth to kick the bucket due to old age). :)

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

Since autumn 2007.

I picked it up from the library on a whim and then promptly left it alone for a week or so. When I did finally start reading it, I found it the first couple of chapters hard to get into, but after the Trolloc attack I found it hard to put down.

The only problem after that was I couldn't pronounce half the names. Even in my head there was little consistency to how they sounded (I think I settled on Nina Eve for Nynaeve). Then I finished the book, found the glossary and felt like an idiot. To be honest I still struggle with how some things are meant to be said (trollocs will always rhyme with bollocks).

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?

Dragonmount, 13th Deppo & tor.com. You can probably tell from my post count here that I mainly lurk.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?

About 5 minutes after finishing KOD.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

The Dragon Reborn. That's not to say that I necessarily think it's the best of the books, but it's probably the one I enjoy most on rereads.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Favourite: Mat, Nynaeve, Logain, Ituralde, Siuan & Birgitte.

Least favourite: Egwene, Cadsuane & Gawyn.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

Plenty I enjoy, but none as much as WoT.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

It was nothing unexpected, but I found it hilarious that it was revealed in the glossary.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Definitely would like Brandon to continue.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I have a terrible sense of direction and can manage to get lost in the (not particularly large) town I've lived in my whole life.

Y. What are your favorite WoT mysteries?

Verin & Demandred. I'd also like to know what happened to the fat man angreal, but it's probably not important.

Z. Do you have any pet theories?

Not really.

Is this Gonzo's cool new nickname?

not quite. the Dutch G sounds like (http://web.me.com/schuffelen/Site/DutchPronunciation.html) emitting phlegm:

G (= CH) "A sound like you clear your throat." There is no sound like it in English, but it is found in Hebrew and Arabic.
ga - gal 2 - ge - eg - geel 2 3 - god - glad - grijs 2 - graag 2 - boog - genoeg
dag 2 - dagen 2 - weg - wegen - brug - bruggen - erg - begin - gaas - gas
heg - trog 2 - degen - zegen - zeggen - gezegde - allergie - allergisch 2 - ginnegappen
giechelen 2 - verslaggever 2 - doorslaggevend 2 - gevechtsvliegtuig - grootgrutter - gigantisch 2
geld en goed - god noch gebod - grijs en grauw - grillen en grollen - grote grutten! 2
G and CH are pronounced somewhat differently in Belgium and in the South of Holland: 'soft' G.

1. How long have you been reading WoT?

-Dunno if answering this would reveal my age but originally when I started reading WoT, I thought it was a trilogy... then TSR came out.

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
TOR- been annoying folks for what seems like years on that site. I am enjoying Leigh Butler's reread and chime in on occasion. Okay, often. Okay, daily. Also hang out on Dragonmount from time to time. No lurking tho'- I'm not really shy about weighing in with my opinion.

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
After RJ's death. wah!

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!
I live in a tree. By the time I find out about stuff, it has already happened. And for me, living up here, going to a signing usually involves a 5+ hour plane ride.

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.
11, 6,5... then the lines start to blur.

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?

Lan. Hopper-wah! Loial. I like the supporting cast. Many of these people are stepping up without any gifts or special powers. Just a normal people rising to the task at hand- something I can identify with. Edit- can't believe it but I forgot Bela. I heart Bela too.

Least? Gawyn, Faile, Suffa.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?

I read other genres. Folks would probably look at me like I'm crazy but my other favorite authors are Dick Francais and Louis L'amour. The Bible is a good read too.

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?

Always baffled me why this became a big deal in the first place. He's dead, move on, there are bigger fish to fry.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Yes. Can't remember a time in my life living without anticipation of the next book. Not ready for that.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

That would be freaking awesome. It'd put to rest that sizable minority of fans that seems to think that "pillow-friends" didnt mean what it really means in their case...that they were just 'close' friends.

A pillow-friend like James Franco in 30 Rock?

1. How long have you been reading WoT?
Since late 1990's

2. Do you lurk and/or post at other WoT forums? Which ones?
Dragonmount, WoT ReRead

3. When did you discover the online fandom?
Early 2000s.

4. Have you ever been to a WoT signing, with either RJ or Brandon? Tell us about it if you have!

No

5. What is your favorite WoT book? If you would rather, rank them all.

TSR, TGH, TFoH, TDR,LoC, TGS, ToM, ACoS, WH, KoD, CoT, TPoD

6. Who are your favorite WoT characters? Least favorite?
Rand, Mat, and Nynaeve are my favorites. Least favorite would be Sea Folk and the Seanchan.

7. Are there any other books or series that you enjoy? As much as WoT? More?
Unfortunately I got introduced to fantasy with SoT. I then realized how crappy it was after reading more and more Fantasy.

My favorites beside WoT would have to be ASoIaF, Dresden Files, Any David Gemmell. Enjoy Modesitt Jr. (sometimes kind of dry, but very intelligently written).

8. What was your reaction to learning who killed Asmodean? Was it 'Yay!'? Was it 'You? No!'? Was it 'That's nice. Next!'?
Meh, I've been fascinated by other storylines throughout the series, more.

9. Would you like to see Brandon write the prequels and outriggers? Or would you rather he stopped writing WoT novels after A Memory of Light?

Its a push for me. I don't really feel that BS is able to write the Loveable Scoundrel character all that well. With Mat there is a delicate line between a character that comes across as a rascal, and one that comes across as a buffoon. In TGS and ToM, he has come across more as a buffoon to me. I would love to see them, but I don't think we will.

10. Tell us something about yourself. Anything. It can be a random detail, or a 5-page essay. We are easygoing. (Except on Tuesdays.)

I've lived most of my life in Oklahoma and went to the University of Oklahoma. I was in the Army for the better part of a decade. I enjoy adult beverages and Football season. I love to travel, but haven't gotten to do as much as I want.

For instance, the most I've seen of Amsterdam was the airport, on my way to Iraq. :p

Hi all! :)

I feel for you. I read some of the SoT books... after WoT. The first page of Wizard's First Rule had me crying, and not a good cry, either. I'm happy to see that you no longer read them. :D

It was really the middle books of that series where I really started to hate it, all the Ayn Rand preaching got old. I can't believe I ever finished it, curiosity more than anything else I guess. :p

In regards to alcohol, do some people ever wonder what it would have been like to live in American Prohibition? What a god awful era that would have been to live in.

Glad I don't live in America ;)

And I got only as far as The Pillars of Creation - I didn't even come close to finishing that one - I didn't even reach half-way.

Supposedly Goodkind wrote like the last 80 pages of the last book of the series, "stream of consciousness" and then just sent it off the the publisher. Terry: Even if the story "speaks" to you, that doesn't mean you should always listen. His interviews also crack me up. Like whenever asks hims him about WoT, and he says something like "If you think that, you're obviously not smart enough to comprehend my books."

That guy is definitely dumb enough to be a WoT character.

I could go to taco bell, take a massive dump the next day, shuffle it into a box and mail it to you and it'd probably have more redeeming value than SoT. The Ayn Rand regurgitation is brutal...as is the constant Deus Ex Machina and the massive plagiarism from other series.

Hear hear! And his author's picture makes him look ten times worse. Long hair back in a ponytail, beard, arms crossed, stern look. Not appealing to me. I don't know why I read those books in the first place.

By-the-by, after I finished Wizard's First Rule, I had brought it up north with me and a bunch of friends, and we sat in front of a fire, and read the story out loud, making fun of the characters. I think that's the most redeeming aspect of these books - you can get a good laugh out of them when reading them out loud.

No shot but some powerful muscle relaxants, some more powerful narcotic painkillers and a steroid pack. If that doesnt start to help by Wed, I get a couple shots.

The "edge" is finally off after 2 days of agony.

Lol! It's so true. I must say, I enjoy this very much; bashing Goodkind's SoT series.

I've met and debated several Ayn Rand people that spout crap from The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged.

Debating them is the equivalent of slamming one's head in a steel door for productiveness.

I've never actually met a real Goodkind fan though.

Goodkind books are kind of like candy. You keep eating it because it's candy and sugar is good. But then after you have too much of it you get this terrible taste in your mouth and develop a sore that lasts for several days and you regret your actions.

I have, unfortunately. Somebody my brother goes to school with (I actually went to the same high school, too, but I digress) - I had already caught up at that time in WoT (CoT, by that time, I believe) and I noticed he was reading Wizard's First Rule. Now, by this time, I had already read WFR, and had continued on in the series because I had told myself that I'd finish the series (I was also hoping that it would get better; oh how wrong I was). I recommended WoT to him, telling him that it was infinitely better than SoT. He blew up at me, saying how SoT was his favourite series, and that it was the best series in the world. Or something along those lines. I no longer talk to him, to say the least.

Also, I am sorry to say, my dad used to like Goodkind's books. But then he read WoT and came to his senses - he can't read Goodkind anymore, but, like me, he can't get rid of his books, which is why I came upon them.

So there was a silver lining to this black cloud (DT album!) of a story, in a way - my dad realized the errors of his ways. I'm glad that happened.

And Goodkind keeps on changing the rules of his magic to suit the current situation. And lets not forget his need to lecture his readers for pages on end about morality etc. Then has the male character tortured in every book and the female character raped in every book.

Gahhhh- how did we go so far astray?!
