Check your receipts, y'all.

I have noticed at a local station that I frequent that they've added stickers to the pumps saying "CASH CREDIT SAME PRICE!" And I was thinking, "What's so special about that?" So I guess some stations probably are doing it around here. I haven't noticed it, though.

Nope not yet...I would imagine its illegal in Vermont...most things that F@*(@# over the consumer are.

I haven't seen it yet, either. I doubt they can do it, here, though.

We have a station here that gives you a lower price if you pay cash, but they advertise it. I imagine it's because of the fees the CC companies charge (sometimes 10-15% of a purchase) to the vendor.

I thought they were only allowed to charge 2%.

I can't say I know about Texas, but its that way in a bunch of places in Wisconsin. Not that big of a jump though. Less than 5 cents, not the 10 (didn't catch exactly how much there) there and they advertise it. Does anyone know if it does the same thing for debit cards?

I love how that NYC reporter was grilling the gas station attendant as if HE controlled pricing... way to go, you hard-nosed journalist, you.

If it isn't already illegal in Texas it is one lawsuit away from it. The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act patently bars this type of behavior.

I know if you use your debit card there is usually a charge, $.45 for me today when I filled up but the charge is the same whether you get $1 or $10, or the way things are going $70 ;). I haven't used my credit card for gas so I don't know if there is a separate charge or a price change
