It was after midnight when this (http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2008/index.jsp) was over. I got all into it and then couldn't go to bed until it was over. I'm a sucker. It was a great game though...even with all of Ugglas errors.

Yeah, when I said good night to Marie it was in the 15th inning. *yawn* At least I assume that's what you're talking about...too lazy to click the link. :D

It was after one where I am till it was over. It was a good game, though I'm ticked the NL didn't pull it off. My man McLouth almost hit a HR, and he played well, so I was happy. First ever outfielder to throw out the winning run at home in extra innings in the all star game. Yep. :D

Hee hee Spammer- that is definitely a sports statistic. They always sound something like "First 3rd baseman to throw an underhanded pass to 1st base while a butterfly flew from home plate to the pitcher's mound on a partly cloudy day."

And I say it with affection- hockey is just as bad.

Hey, my team hasn't had a winning season while I've been alive, I'll celebrate the small victories every time. :D

I never watch the All Star game...its so meaningless. I had a chance to go to the 2001 AS Game in Seattle for $100 a ticket and I turned it down...Absolutely no interest despite being willing to pay $50 for an average Mariners game.

I'm just happy no Phillies or Red Sox got injured.

but its not meaningless any more...hence the 15 innings. Its nice to have Home Field avatage in the WS don't you think?

One more inning and we may have seen Drew pitch LOL

I think the whole Home field thing is stupid and wrong...it should be based off the teams respective records not an exhibition game.

Well, wait... the AL won, right?

Soo... the Sox, the Cards, the Astros... they don't get anything out of it then.

Zaela Sedai

The Sox do....we're AL

And Dav it doesn't matter, the AL always has the better team in the WS anyways LOL (pretend the Tigers didnt go to the 06 WS)

Um... I thought the Sox were in the same league as the Astros.

Hmmm.... No, Gil. Sorry. For Future Reference: The National League is

San Diego Padres
Colorado Rockies
San Francisco Giants
Arizona Diamondbacks
Milwaukee Brewers
Chicago Cubs
St. Louis Cardinals
Houston Astros
Cincinnati Reds
Philadelphia Phillies
New York Mets
Atlanta Braves
Florida Marlins
Pittsburgh Pirates

(I gave it a shot from memory...)

Thanks for clarifying. It got a bit confusing because the Astros played both the Yankees and the Red Sox this year.

We never EVER play the Astros (well we did this year in interleague), we come to town for the Rangers. We're in the AL East...with the Yankees....but thats ok, you're forgiven.

Like I said, I was expecting only one interleague game and some how we got three (Rangers, Sox, and Yankees).

But it does make the All Star game worth something, which logically leads to better play.

The absolute best thing about last night's game was the pregame introductions of all the Hall of Famers...it was very cool. :) You don't often get to see almost 50 of them present for one event, except maybe for induction weekend.

I agree that the All-Star game shouldn't be the deciding factor for home field advantage in the World Series - that's just another dumb thing that Bud Selig thought up. If you listen to the players from the 60s and 70s, they always played hard in the All-Star game and it didn't mean anything. That may not be the case any more if the game doesn't count for anything, but I'd rather have it be a meaningless exhibition than have an impact on the Series, even though so far the home field advantage hasn't been that big a deal. No World Series has gone seven games since the All-Star home field advantage was instituted - three have been sweeps by the AL (so two games at each park), and two have been won by the NL even though they didn't have home field advantage.

PHHHHTTTT!!!!

Just the thought of that ignorance ruins the whole All-Star theme. Although I will say this was undoubtably the best game I've seen in a long time in All-Star play. The pitchers were throwing aspirin tablets up there and the hitters for the most part looked like they were trying to hit them with unstrung tennis rackets. In spite of Uggla's bad luck the game was a continuously pressure filled pleasure to watch. I for one never missed a pitch the whole game and I can't say that about regular season games. So, it was a great game to watch and seeing the Hall of Famers was a wonderful treat as well. Yogi Berra was a laugh a second in the announcers booth.

Also, Davian you missed the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Washington Nationals....shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm no Selig fan that's for sure. But I've got nothing against interleague play. I just with more NL teams would get a shot at beating the Yanks ;)

That was me, Pops, not Dav. I apologize for the Dodgers, but the Nationals are a AA team masquerading as worthwile. For them I have no apology.

Yeah...I wouldn't have missed any of the teams...I could probalby name half the minor league teams too. :)

I call bullshit, sir. In big red shiny letters.

To restore my dignity: The Superior Circuit

New York Yankees
Baltimore Orioles
Toronto Blue Jays
Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays
Chicago White Sox
Minnesota Twins
Detroit Tigers
Cleveland Indians
Kansas City Royals
Seattle Mariners
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (or vice versa - it's a stupid concept)
Texas Rangers
Oakland Athletics
Some jumped up minor league team in Boston, unworthy of naming ;)

Davian93

I believe the LAA dropped the "of Anaheim" before the start of this season...;)

That makes it... what? 24 behind on the all-time world championship count, Zae?

Call me when you're closer.
