Beautiful and deadly cold place :) I get a little homesick just thinking about it.

Thankfully it's christmas soon so I can go back there.

When I become a 1%er I'm going to come to Sweden and visit you and I want to go there...in the winter.

And you'll be welcome! You won't even have to be a 1%er :)

Facebook is only catering to ugly mugs! :D

Regardless of my personal feelings towards facebook I think server farming in the Scandinavia is a good thing. Lots of empty factory facilities lying around.

If I could start a vote I would start one that asks how many is NOT in facebook aka ansiktbok. For some reason I have never felt any need to sign up. Especially after companies started using it as a marketing avenue. Somehow feels very artificial. Like any company is your "friend" :)

Having been to Jukkasjarvi in the depths of winter (that spelling is soooo wrong), I can confirm that you don't know cold until you've been to the frozen north.

Here is an artist's conception of what Facebook's new serverfarm will look like:

LMAO

It's a very clever idea and quite awesome, actually. I wonder how many other massive server farms will start following in Zuckerberg's footsteps.

Haha! Didn't think of that. Good one.

They apparently save a buttload of power for the cooling with the cold weather. Also nice for the region to get some cool stuff.

They are not using unused facilities, they are building new ones. It's going to be friggin huuuge.

If they're all Putin, does that mean they are all Demandred? That fits in with the current theory.

The old man was older than old; he made Cenn Buie look like a child in the bloom of health. The skin of his face was like crazed parchment drawn tight over a skull, then pulled tighter still. Wispy tufts of brittle hair stood at odd places on his scabrous scalp. His ears were withered bits like scraps of ancient leather; his eyes sunken, peering out of his head as if from the ends of tunnels.

Since that is obviously a description of George W Bush, this lends strong weight to the Putindred theory.

Um, did anyone read the Cracked article about how Putin was a better superhero than most? It was hysterical.

Mark is a copy-cat. Google already opened it's server farm in Southern Finland. It's located in old paper mill that got closed. Huge halls practically for free and power supply ain't a problem since the facilities former status, plus a nuclear plant is quite near it. I need to dig up specifics.

And the more recent article tying together the fb and google farms. Apparently google uses seawater to cool those servers. Btw what a load of bollocks. There are no polar bears in Sweden :D

LOL, well, I didn't know that about Google. But, the fact that they both did that, that's awesome.
