Closed beta starts this Friday 16th of December. Next will be open beta. I am really hoping that we will be able to get into OB and not by some random chance.
I believe OB will start in 3 to 4 months.

That's good news. I'd like to get in to the open beta as well, although that sounds like it's going to be right in the middle of finals with all those oh, so wonderful exams & final projects due.

I hope that they're going to be able to keep us up to date with the info, but I've got a feeling that there's going to be NDA involved everywhere.

How long did it take GW1 to go from beta to full release? Can that be used to guess a timeline for the full version?

Hummm, I wonder if they'd sync the release. If you were ANet, would you launch GW2 on April 28th 2012, 7 years to the day after the release of Prophecies?

I highly doubt they will do GW2 what they did with GW1 concerning open beta. GW1 open beta lasted 6 months and you could only play one weekend each month.
I think those that pre-order will have access to open beta. At least that is what I would do.
If they had a choice and were ready for a full release I think that on their 7th anniversary would be awesome. An open beta on that date would also be awesome.
