Too much dead space on the covers.

I like the Sweet covers.

I like the Sweet covers.

That seems to be the consensus so far.

I suppose they thought to have them like the ebook covers would be unoriginal?
Besides, what i love about the ebook covers is the fact you can zoom in and see the awesome little bits in each one.

Not sure why the cover art is letterboxed that way... I actually have a pb of The Hobbit, with a DKS cover, that has the same compressed art. I will probably buy the editions that I don't have a hard cover of, or the ones with my favorite art (TFOH, TGS).

This is news to me.

I like the new covers. But I also like so-called 'dead space'.

BTW, I meant to start a thread about this a while back, but will we see a Google Experiment from Lupusdeusest (or any other tlander) anytime soon? I like all the stuff I've seen from lupus. Still can't figure out how to create bubbles with a deterministic process that isn't just bubbles.

Que? (in an attemt to make "huh" sound in any way couth)

Also - I meant about the deadspace... although i will still likely buy these; I have an intention to collect as many covers as I can. I'm not sure where the money for that is going to come from.

These:

I just can't figure out what equations produce both those bubbles and the other effects.

From memory, that one has Linear and Bubble - although there may be a little Spherical too.

There's a full listing and explanation here (PDF download) http://flam3.com/flame.pdf - warning, fairly large file - which will give you a general overview of how it works.

EDIT: Yes, definitely some spherical - there is some Noise and some Gaussian as well.
