Just click on the show tag next to spoiler. Hot damn Bakker's writing is far and away the best out in fantasy right now IMO. Can not wait for this book to be released...

Suttree:

I am looking at getting back into the fantasy genre after reading Victorian England novels for the last year or so.

If I'm going to wade into R. Scott Bakker, what is a good starting point?

Which book(s) are your favorites from Bakker?

Wondering this too.

A friend recommended Bakker to me back in July, but haven't really gotten around to checking him out.

The place to start is with the "Prince of Nothing" trilogy.

IMO this is some of the best fantasy out at the moment. Excellant prose and it deals with heady philosophical themes.(Bakker has a PHD in philosophy). It can be pretty dark and brutal however.
