View Full Version : Recent interviews

Things have been kind of hectic lately so I'm worried I've missed a lot of interviews. I got the Goodreads one, and the NPR ones with Brandon and Harriet, and the Nethspace one. Which ones have I missed? Any help would be appreciated. I should be able to keep up with them better in the days to come; this is the first release for which we've had the new database, which makes it a lot easier to keep up. (I need to finish entering the Goodreads one; haven't started on the others but I might transcribe the NPR ones today.)

ETA by Marie: Here's a full list of the audio/video interviews that still need to be transcribed. If anyone would like to help out, post to let us know which interview you're working on. Thanks!

Also included in the second part of the list are print/online interviews (new and old) that we've recently found that are yet to be entered in the Interview Database.

SFX magazine posted an interview with Brandon (http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/01/04/interview-how-brandon-sanderson-ended-the-wheel-of-time/).

Thanks. That one has already been entered in the database (http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=861). If you notice any others, though, please let us know.

The ones that I know of that aren't entered yet (besides the ones that Terez listed above) are:

1. Tor/Forge newsletter comments by Brandon on the last scene (http://torforge.wordpress.com/2013/01/07/reading-the-final-scene-of-the-wheel-of-time/) (entered)

2. Tor/Forge newsletter comments by Harriet about computers (http://torforge.wordpress.com/2013/01/07/computers-made-it-easier/) (entered)

3. Literate Liquors interview with Brandon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi7DuSZcK9c) (from LibertyCon, but only recently posted)

Also, here are a couple of neat stories (with some brief comments by Harriet) about donation of RJ's collection of notes and other items to the College of Charleston:

Charleston City Paper: (entered)

BeachCarolina.com: (entered)

Some of the items can be viewed on the blog that has been set up to detail the processing and cataloging of the materials here: http://blogs.cofc.edu/thetruesource/

I particularly liked Padan Fain's dagger (no ruby, though), and the TEotW floppy discs. :)

Also, the AMoL signing in Charleston tomorrow will be held at the College of Charleston library, and the attendees will be able to view some of the items from the collection. Wish I could go!

You've probably already discovered this, but in case you didn't, that site also had an old interview with RJ (http://www.ekultura.hu/olvasnivalo/egyeb/cikk/2007-09-19%2000:00:00/xxi-szazadi-mesemondo-interju-robert-jordannal-2003-aprilis).

There's also this Q&A with fans (http://lfg.hu/8408/hirek/robert-jordan-interju/), which sounded interesting when I ran it through Google Translate. Hope we can find a translator for it.

You've probably already discovered this...
I hadn't. See, this is why you get research props, because you're inclined to look for things like this. :D

Hope we can find a translator for it.
The only Hungarian WoT fan I know is csarmi, and I'm still trying to talk him into translating that other RJ interview you found from 2003. I told him I will try to do it with Google and send it to him for cleaning up. He finds it hard to write in English.

01-26-2013, 05:12 AM
The chat with RJ and fans was a bad translation of the Budapest Q&A, which was in English. (Had a conversation with csarmi about it.)

01-26-2013, 08:36 AM
I reached the same conclusion, but only because some of the user names matched. Sorry I made you and Csarmi waste time on it. :( The Google Translate version was different enough from the Budapest transcript that it seemed like a completely different interview.

I just added the user names. :) (Still have to add a few more, and that link.) And no worries on time-wasting; you are awesome.

FYI, all the interviews listed in this thread along with the ones from the old thread (http://www.theoryland.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=5956) that still need to be transcribed and/or entered in the Database are now listed in the first post. We'll update that first post as things are transcribed and entered.

Updated the list in the original post of audio/video interviews that need to be transcribed...

All the print interviews that were listed are now entered, though I found another recent one tonight that needs to be entered.
