I think I may have mentioned it before but while Rand has many parallels (Arthur, the big JC amongst others). And Mat, Perrin, Egwene and so many more have direct, indirect and alluded mythical parallels.

What about Moridin, okay, Ishamael has its biblical and quranic comparisons. But Moridin?

I will tell you who RJ based him upon: Stephen Patrick Morrissey.

Think about it.

Moridin/Morrissey.
Panic in the streets of London/Panic in the streets of Bandar Eban.
Both are miserable.
Both have quiffs (allegedly).
Both are asexual but a bit gay.
Both did their best work years ago.
One is a darkfriend, the other sits in dark rooms.

What more can I say? RJ was known as a physicist, soldier and lover of myths and legends. And miserabilist 1980s UK Indie Music.

Do I win $5?

For being judgemental and offensive?

And there's nothing wrong with being offensive:

Does the theory hold up?

Of all the things in the world one could designate as 'a bit gay' without being too offensive, surely Morrissey is one of them?

Daekyras, are you Morrissey? Is it really you?

Sure, his parents are from Kildare, are they not?

Applicable songs that come to mind:

What Difference Does It Make?
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
Girlfriend in a Mindtrap
We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful

Strange Ways Here We Come

And of course he should've given heed to

There is a Light That Never Goes Out

Question: Which queen is dead?

Being a young male in the 21st century, I have heard 'gay' used in many contexts. Literally dozens.

'Gay as in tragic' is a new one for me.

I object to your use of the word 'lame.' It insults the physically impaired.

That's only dangerous if you happen to be a model who is the girlfriend of one of those physically impaired people, though.

I got sick jokes about that texted to me within an hour of it being reported on the news.

My favourites were:

'Apparently, Pistorius is thought to be a Serial killer, they found pages of names he is supposed to have killed.

They called it Shinless list'.

'What's got two legs and murders women?

The Pistorius brothers'.

'Apparently Pistorius is pleading guilty to all charges, his lawyer reckons he hasn't got a leg to stand on'.
