So I just finished up the wheel of time series and noticed that at the end of the book while Rand is walking away, it says that rand has lost the ability to touch the one power, but goes on to say that he wanted his pipe lit, and it was lit.

By fighting the dark one has rand essentially become the creator? or at least been granted his powers or just be his representative on earth?

I could be reading too much into that but I think it would be a pretty cool ending to the entire series.

It is also possible that either Elayne or Aviendha lit it for him.

Its also possible that the entire sequence from Rand meeting Narg until the end of aMoL was a brief fever dream that occurred while Rand was dying with Narg's sword in his gut. That would explain the inconsistencies in the final couple books as things often don't match up in a dream state. Rand was a perpetual daydreamer anyway...it's why he loved Farstrider's books so much. Honestly, as a sheepherder, there's not much to do anyway. Sheep don't really need much tending...they basically just hang out and graze all day. Not surprising in the least that Rand would dream of a more interesting life and for adventures where he meets a beautiful princess and has crazy powers that allow him to do anything he wants...all the bad things are very simple to explain too. As the poison from the blade spread, it gave him horrible dreams that made it feel like he was going mad and hearing voices...it made it feel as if there was a horrible pain in his side (aka the sword wound from Narg) and that he had lost a hand (Narg likely gnawed it off as he lay dying...Trollocs are notoriously hungry for human flesh) Finally, death started to overtake his brain so a feeling of peace overspread him (his dreams from Dragonmount on) and he left peacefully. The pipe lighting was merely the final few electrons firing in the brain of a dead 18 year old boy from the Two Rivers who was killed in a random trolloc attack.

No more, no less. It was not the ending but it was an ending.

Most of that makes sense, but it doesn't explain why he hadn't ditched Egwene long ago. Having him forced to hook up with her by the Pattern is one thing, having him just randomly do it is quite something else.

That goes along with the whole poison seeping through his body part...

Doesn't explain why he didn't ditch her 3 years before he met Narg.

He didn't really have an option there...he was promised to her...also, the only other girls that showed any interest in him had wool and kept telling him he was Baahhhdddd every time he made a pass at them.
