The man changed my views on death through that character. If you imagine having that moment with the Grim Reaper just after your death and know that looking back on it all you'd be satisfied with the choices you made, then your life was a good one. I hope Sir Terry felt that way. He will be missed.

I tend to be superstitious when it comes to deaths coming in threes. That's two blows for geekdom in the space of a week; I hope there is not another one coming.

Someone who would be on level with Sir Terry and mr Nimoy? A comic book artist for the superhero genre since the other two were a sci-fi actor/director and a fantasy writter... Stan Lee isn't going to die right?

Harve Bennett died recently too (same week as Nimoy actually). He wasn't as big of a "name" but he was pretty much the reason Star Trek became what it was after The Motion Picture bombed. He and Meyer were the writers of Wrath of Khan and he was the guy that produced STII through ST V....pretty big deal really. He also had a wacky idea for ST VI that included rebooting the series and taking them back to the Academy days...he was ridiculed at the time and he left the Franchise as a result. Abrams & Co used his idea/script proposals for their reboot though...he was simply 20 years ahead of his time. To be fair though, Meyer did a great job with ST VI along with Nimoy's writing.

His death got massively overshadowed by Nimoy's though among ST fans.
