2010-08-28: According to recent news on Tor.com, the prologue to Towers of Midnight will be available September 21st, less than four weeks away. We will be seeing Lan, Perrin, Galad and the Blight. I have put a link to the download on Amazon.com, although I'm assuming there are other locations for the download.

Towers of Midnight is Done!

2010-08-17: As tweeted by Brandon Sanderson a short while ago, "And the file is off to Tor. Final version crept up to 328,000 words (with the new scenes) and is 57 chapters + a prologue and epilogue." The book is set for a November 2nd release. Be on the look out for news of the prologue and the upcoming tour! Can't wait!

Sneak Peek of The Way of Kings

2010-06-10: As Brandon Sanderson is finishing the Wheel of Time series, we thought you might want to give The Way of Kings, his new epic coming in August, a first look. Tor.com has unveiled the prelude, prologue and first three chapters, which you can find at the link below. Makes us wonder if The Way of Kings will deserve its own land of Theories...

About Brandon's hint about the land of his greatfathers... I thought it might be here in Idaho Falls, since I know his parents and/or grandparents live here, but I checked at the Barnes and Noble, looked through, around and under all his books, even asked the clerks and store manager, no luck.

Never heard of Perun, although it does sound a bit similar to the Estonian Pikker or Pikne (the latter meaning literally "Lightning") which is the other and less used name of the main god known as Taara or Tharapita - again, the latter version some say is actually "Taara, abista!" (Thor, help!). Pikker is usually portrayed as a tall young-ish and rash man, with a temper just like lightning, while Taara is usually old and wise. A third name for the same god is Uku, Uku is usually portrayed as strong and level-headed, a man in his prime.

But then again, I don't know very much about Slavic mythology, particularly the Kiev Slavic, it's too much to the south. adbf might know more.

Link to Q & A (in case you hadn't seen them), so that you can upgrade the quotes database. Good job with your database, by the way.
