Mat. He is just THICK in this chapter. Awful.

Oh, and Thom is a little of to me aswell in the book.

Much better effort than tGS though.

My thought when I read that scene was, "you've got to be f*cking kidding me."

Brandon has no subtlety. He has taken WoT with all it's subtle hintings and such and now spells everything out, hits the reader in the face with it. It is tragic, but much better than no more WoT.

Mat, Perrin at times, are totally 1D characters now. Many minor characters as well. Oh well.

I think it's made worse because about 3 chapters later he uses incredible thinking process to figure out how to escape *finnland.

Seriously, that was a sweet scene.
