Welcome to WoT for Beginners

We thought we'd give this kind of forum a shot as new users and new readers seek out a place to discuss the Wheel of Time at their own pace. The moderators will come around soon to post some rules and I'm sure we'll figure out what works best as we go.

A suggestion: to make this work for yourself and every other new WoT fan, use a generic title that won't spoil anything. You could use the name of the book and chapter, for example. I'm sure a more exact set of rules and suggestions will show up soon.

To give some idea of the meaning of soon here, and also to give a possible format for quoting bits from the books, I think it is useful to refer to the following time scale:

Still, it is possible that rules would turn up quicker, if there is an actual need for them.

As an aside: should I have put the quote in spoiler tags, or can it be assumed that someone who comes here has started reading already?

I think that in order for this to work it would be best to put the book and chapter in the title of the thread. That way old-timers are less likely to get confused when new posts show up in this forum, since we're used to regular WoT discussion being on top. The book-chapter thread titles will be another way to remind us that we should be on spoiler alert.

It may be difficult to get new people to follow the rules, but mods can always change the thread titles if necessary.
