The are only actually six houses in the entire UK, including both Houses of Parliament, hence why they go off the market so quickly. The Houses of Parliament haven't even been on the market for yonks.

And another House was exported to the Americas, thus further decreasing the supply side, thus driving up the prices even further.

I have a question about the yonk: is that an Anglo-Saxon time unit, or does it have an even older origin?

I think it was first introduced by the Romans to replace the Ancient Briton yarglfardd, a much less accurate measure of time.
