Semi being as strong as Lanfear is interesting. Maybe that's why she had that clothing competition with Lanfear.

Couple of questions:
- Since men are on average stronger than women, do we know how many levels ahead of a woman a man is - for the same level? For example, how much stronger is Ishamael compared to Lanfear. The highest level in a woman would correspond to which level in the male scale?

Also, do we have a way of quantifying the difference between two levels? Are they the same for all?

I remember RJ said something about a bell curve or so. Poor memory here though.

7. There are 6 male levels above Lanfear. 72 levels altogether.

As Terez said, in terms of raw strength, Lanfear, the highest among women (with Semirhage and Alivia) corresponds to level 7 for men. Ishamael is 6 levels above her. But functionally, she is as capable as Ishamael, and their levels are equal. Also, the actualy volume of power he can draw more than her is not all that much.

Yes, those differences persist all through the strength scale. Any woman will be functionally as strong as a man six levels above her.

We can't exactly quantify it, but the Companion says it wasn't a large amount.

Cadsuane's ornaments:

1) Bird that looked a little like a shrike. An angreal, not very powerful, that catapulted her to top male strength, thus considerably more than any unaided woman.

2) Double crescent moons facing one another and overlapping. Worked like Mat's foxhead to dissipate flows directed at the wearer, and also warn that someone nearby had embraced the source. Couldn't distinguish saidin and saidar, though it works on both.

3) Hummingbird. This was the well. Small but significant amount of the Power can be stored. Described as a battery, it needs periodic recharging if used, but it wouldn't deplete between charges if it wasn't used.

4) Eight pointed star: detect a man with ability to channel even if he wasn't embracing the source. Worked up to a distance of thirty or forty paces, but wouldn't identify which man was channeling.

5) A bird, appears like a swallow. Points to direction of pure saidin or saidar use. Cannot detect mixed use because it was designed at a time when that had stopped happening.

6) Six pointed star. When triggered, the wearer got a thin layer of armor against their skin. This distributed the strength of any blow directed at them, and also protected against the blow of a knife, sword or mace. It was invisible except to the wearer.

7) Sleek fish with sharp fins. This enabled the wearer to pull someone into an involuntary circle with her in charge of guiding the flows. Only works if the other has embraced saidar or seized saidin (implying it lets a woman control a one man one woman circle).

8) A shadowed moon. It was a full disk, but with work which left a burnished crescent. Use unknown.

9) A leaping fish, looks like a fat trout. Use unknown.

10) A carp. Use unknown.

Except for the involuntary circle ter'angreal, I cannot see which one would have allowed Cadsuane to interfere with Semrihage's illusion. Yet RJ said there was one such in her collection. Further, if she knew the use of this one (the text says she knew the use of 6 of the 9), it mystifies me that she didn't use it way more often. She could have just forced Smeirhage into a circle, and Rand would't have been injured. And she could have done the same to Graendal in the Last Battle. Seems a rather overpowered ter'angreal, honestly.

Maybe with number 7 there is the additional problem that the one being pulled can put up some resistance. If true, then that would make it a lot less powerful than it seems right now.

Would this ter'angreal have helped Cadsuane when she first met Rand? Rand and all his ashaman?

Possibly. Though she might have gotten a bad (albeit short) surprise if one of them had drawn a sword and lopped her head off. Channelling is useful, but if you rely on it too much you can run into trouble.

She had another ter'angreal to help with that, though.

Didn't work fast enough when Fain stabbed his knife into Rand, did it?
I don't think it would have protected Cadsuane either, if she had been Fain's target then.

I meant her ter'angreal, not something she could extend to Rand.
